Well done for these 5 years James, great tips right there. Your first video is definitely not a bad one, especially for a beginner at that time. Looking forward for more videos from you my friend 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you Karl, it has definitely been a journey. How many years have you been on YT now? I would guess even longer than me?
"Clean your work bench" is such a great reminder to so many folks who share pictures AND video's! Debris does not add to an interesting subject!!
When you have to zoom in on a picture to see the model car the effect is lost! Thanks for watching bud👍
Congrats on 5 years James. Ben here following from the beginning.👍🏼Amazing channel tips and recommendations for new RUclipsrs and even us veterans. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for your continued support! I really appreciate it 👍
Hey James! I can’t believe it is already 5 years. (My 5 year is in March!) It has been a journey to say the least. You have given me a lot to think about time and again and I appreciate your insight into things as I progress my own skills. Thanks for the shout out! I am looking forward to the growth over the next 5 years sir.
Thanks Spencer for always being there man! It has been quite a journey to say the least. Here’s to another 5 bud🍻
i enjoy watching your build videos James!
That’s Groove, I’ll keep making them because they mean something to me🤓
James, congratulations on five years on RUclips. As a viewers standpoint you hit every point. I find videos that start with a kit unboxing then the next video is of the finished model and not what into the build boring.😀
Hi Jim, that’s a tough one. I applaud the creators who can film 40-50 hours of work and chop it down to a 15 min video start to finish. I cannot, it is too much to ask. I do the unboxing review and the final assembly of the kit videos with a tip or technique video in between them. I will try to do a full start to finish video this year and see how it goes.
Awesome video James, the thumbnail picture to the left looks like you're being charged with a crime🤣🤣😉. The picture to the right, you look more relaxed 😊 5 yrs for me to last November, but haven't been really active due to family life, all the best looking forward to seeing more videos, Cheers KC 🇦🇺🏔🪃🦘🤝🇺🇸🇺🇸🤗👍👌
Haha thanks KC! It’s hard for me to watch my early on camera stuff. I lacked confidence and didn’t edit as much as I should have. I appreciate you Aussie Bud! Thanks for the laugh.
@ScaleModelExperiment you're welcome, and same here, and glad I gave you a laugh 🤣 all the best 🍻🦘🏔🇦🇺👍
James, you are truly one of the most talented model builders I have met and you all ways share your skills. I appreciate all the help I get from watching your channel and having the privilege to know you in other ways. I would not be at the level I am with out you! Thank you sir! Here's to 5 more years!!
Tim you’re too kind bud. Your attention to detail in your builds really shows these days. I’m looking forward to seeing your latest one at the next meeting.
@ScaleModelExperiment in the next 3 or 4 builds, I'm going to add in extra detail like battery cables, carburetor linkage, and better quality fule lines. I'm waiting for supplies to come from model round up. Still need a new airbrush then I'm switching to 2k clear. I'm stepping up my game in 2025!
Sounds like you have a plan my friend! Keep having fun Tim👍
Congrats on your five years! As a viewer only, I find playlist helpful. Especially tips and tutorials.
Gotcha Allen, should I organize my playlists more or are they easy enough to navigate as Is?
Great info and tips. Thank you very much James
Thanks for watching Dirt Road, I really do appreciate you commenting👍
@ScaleModelExperiment it was my pleasure. There was a lot of good info in your video. My channel is still very young but growing well. So I truly appreciate the insight.
Tiffany
Good luck with your channel Tiffany, I am glad to help 👍
Congrats, James. You've come a long way! Great tips too.
Thank you for watching, I appreciate your support Rob👍
Congrats James!!! very cool !!
Thanks so much Bud, thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
Congratulations on the 5 years James good info keep on building 🍻👍🏻
Thanks for watching bud, I appreciate the support 👍
Just watch your video i left a piece of info i left out iam a military model by right i use to build cars a long time ago after years of building tanks and armor vehicles seeing green and tri camo i started reliving building afew cars thats why i had asked about the gluing of painted parts on thinking i mite using the wrong glue thanks for answering my questions
Of course Timothy. My pleasure.
As you know, I'm watching your 3D printing videos for education. However, it was interesting to view your build videos in the past too, so don't de-escalate that too much. A lot of channels have been doing "how-to" videos recently, so I'm one who thinks build videos will grow legs again soon.
Not to be critical of your choices, but I notice in the background you have very few AMT, Revell and Moebius kits on the shelf. Most of us out here buy those brands from our local model shops, Ollie's, Walmart and Hobby Lobby. If you sprinkle in some build videos from these brands, I know I and many others will be more likely to watch. Seeing inside the boxes and how much difficulty there may be in the build helps me decide what kits to buy and which to avoid.
You have a great point there Ray. I do plan to build the AMT Hellcat Charger when it comes out later this year. I also like the John Mueller era of AMT kits. I have a small collection of American kits on another shelving unit not seen in the videos. Is it time for a tour of my hobby room? Thanks again for your support Ray👍
@@ScaleModelExperiment Sounds like you need the new Revell Shelby GT-500, to balance the brands! 😉
Haha, I built that kit back when it was molded in yellow. I have the new Vette from Revell though…
Congrats on 5 years! That’s awesome and thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching Stout, I appreciate the support 👍
Congratulations on five years James ❤😊
Thanks Shawn, I love you man!
@ScaleModelExperiment I love you as well brother and you know I love your builds ❤️
Thanks for the video. I am considering starting a channel. By the way, your videos did get better.
Thanks for watching Gerald! Good luck in your RUclips journey. I wish I had seen this video 5 years ago 😁
Thanks for this great video James! I started my own modeling channel just over a year ago, and this video will be very useful as the channel grows.
Good luck with your channel, I’m happy I could share what I’ve learned with you.
Great Tips James thanks for sharing
Congratulations on your 5 years
Thanks so much for watching and leaving me a comment👍
Great video! Thx James
Thanks so much for watching, I appreciate the support 👍
James I so like watching your 3D printing videos. My wife got me a anycubic M7 pro for Christmas. I haven’t even taken it out of the box yet. I have so much to learn before I attempt to print anything. The hardest thing is not having anyone around that does it. Back to modeling, thanks
Set it up and do some test prints, you’ll enjoy the journey.
I have an anycubic X2. And have been trying to get things working right. The only way is to just try doing it and expect miss prints at first...
@ that was my first printer. I found that slowing it down by adding a pause after the bed raises helps. Just .06 seconds pause. Try it, it may work for you. Also, do your calibration tests to find the sweet spot with exposure settings.
I love Japanese RUclips modelers videos. They don’t talk. Their production values are great and I learn a lot.
I agree, it’s hard to compete for valuable YT viewer time with them. I’ll just do what I do 😎
Talking is fine with me because reading the CC's is more distracting. I have learned a lot watching them, however, and their videos (for the ones I follow) are well done.
@ I’ve learned quite a bit from the Japanese model channels. Even the ones without subtitles. It’s all about technique. They have the best tools and paints and supplies there. We have rubbish.
@@ScaleModelExperiment I enjoy your videos and watch all of them. I’m not a fan of the ones where you talk with 2 other guys for over an hour. American CC’s who are in love with the sound of their voices really turn me off. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the feedback. I told the guys that we need to chop the podcast down to 1 hour. We shall see..
I like the building ones and the printing stuff from the positioning to the slice settings and so on. Would like to see more on how you do the pins for the kits.
Hi Kevin, a friend of mine gave me a file of some m6 bolts in scale. I reduced and enlarged that same file by increments of 25% till I had a good supply of different sized bolts. Now I have plenty to use for a long time.
Very nice video James. Thank you
Thanks for watching, I’ve wanted to do this video for a long time to help out the newer channels.
I enjoyed all the videos you've done whether it a build or tips and hope you'll continue with both
Thank you Ryan, I will continue to make the build videos but won’t get upset when they don’t get noticed.
Brilliant points! What a milestone you've come ; )
Thank you so much, I’ve learned a lot about making videos and still have a lot to work on. Stay tuned for even better stuff coming this year.
Great tips! After a couple years Im still trying to grow my channel. Gona try a couple of your tips. Thanks!
Good luck with your channel StarCity. Getting new people to stop by and take a look takes interesting subject matter, keeping them engaged takes good pace and content. They will come back for more if you entertain or educate.
Dang James, what difference. You can really tell how nervous you were in the first video. Really have grown.
I was so scared back then Terry! For no reason at all.. nobody watched it 🤪 thanks for your support, I appreciate it 👍
Wonderful as always James and appreciate your input and hard work ;) i do not agree with replying to all comments,i see others with serious anxiety about keeping up with them and taking away bench time.
Thanks for watching Tony, it’s not a big deal to answer 50 comments. When it’s 1000 I’ll change my tune.
Thanks for the video James. As a "7 monther", these are great points to keep in mind. Happy New Year!
Congrats on your channel. If you focus solely on the viewer you will succeed.
@@ScaleModelExperiment Thanks! And yes...I agree. (For example, I stopped doing "mail call" videos before the end of 2024 - although I do shop card shoutouts to try to get the word out for other channels.
Thanks again!
@timcarson8146 Shop card shoutouts are fine in my opinion, just remember who you’re talking to. Tell them a good reason to watch the other channel.
Hi James, I think your videos are great I look forward to them. I really like the 3d printing videos as I have one my self.
Thanks for watching, I am glad you enjoy the 3D printing videos, as I enjoy making them.
Thank you for the tips, James.
My pleasure! I should have prefaced the video by saying that I am of the opinion that… but I stand behind my comments.
Hey James ,great video thank you. 👍
Thanks Danny, I appreciate your support 👍
Just bought a saturn 3 ultra so I'll be watchin 3d videos
Big congrats on the milestone
✌️
Congrats on your purchase. I had issues early with the printer but slowed it down a little and it worked better. Only if you have issues with prints pulling off the build plate.
Congratulations on 5 years
Thank you Travis, you have been around since the beginning. I appreciate your support 👍
Supra paint was nice on superbee looked awsome very nice build, 👍keith
Thanks Keith, it seems like a lifetime ago that I made that video 👍
@@ScaleModelExperiment I taut so I just commented back to ur 1st comment I sent and mentioned u looked younger then I swear min I read reply on this comment I said Holy shit I honest to god didn't read reply I mentioned u looked younger that's crazy, 👍
Very good informative video James cool alot good information on how to get a audience thanks for sharing some great all great sponsors great video,,, Keith, 👍
Thanks so much for watching Keith, I really appreciate your support👍
@ScaleModelExperiment iv always watched bro it was comments I couldn't do all time. if I watch on TV I wouldn't be able to comment unless I have phone in front of me or was watching on phone or pc I could comment then. hey 5yrs. I remember u start. I think it was ur 1st giveaway of some decals u had it was just comment on what video you enjoyed on channel I was 1 of the 3 winners u picked do you remember that.? Probably not. cause it was one ur earlyest vids and since I subbed way back then iv always watched sure u looked little younger by couple years on this video at end or it might of been fresh haircut or shave that made u look little younger 😂 I don't know it did look like a younger u that I'd know of from past 5 year on RUclips but great video that superbee looked awsome butterscotch yellow was it.. Looked awsome, 👍keith
@@keithsmodelsandrcs6593 hey Keith, I forgot about the giveaway and that you won. Thanks again for all of your support bud👍
James congrats on the five years...and thanks for all your helpful tips I have learned a bunch. hey what can you tell us about the display cases in the back ground...thanks again
Thanks for watching Befoot👍 the display cases are from Carney Plastics. They hold 21 or 24 cars and cost about $150 each. I’ve had them for many years.
That first video of yours with the part of you going over the build wasn't bad at all. Yeah I agree with the dirty work benches and the camara moving around making me dizzy lol. I do enjoy a well edited video with the builder talking us thru the project. I don't care for the videos with the music and the sped up processes. Then there are some that loose me in the first few minutes.
Thanks for your feedback Brian. Tom at Scale Modeling Channel really kind of set the standard for model building videos with his voiceover walk through a model build. I hate to copy his approach but it seems to be the best.
Congratulations
Thanks for your time Shawn👍
Congratulations on 5 years !
Great tips for content creators !
When does the Monday night show start back up ?
I love the neat 3d prints you've done so far , have you considered printing some of the lesser known not quite top line bodies so people can see not everything is as good as the Bezrodney files ?
Thanks for watching 👍 the Monday night podcasts start back up on January 13th at 8:00. I have showcased Dirty Customs, TunerKits, Olivizzle and 3DVM lately as I enjoy all of their designs. I refuse to promote those designers who scan a hot wheel car and call it ready to print. 😂
Some very good tips in this and some things I need to change for sure. Had just ordered lights the day before and we won't talk about how bad my bench is lol
Hahaha Pappy, we as modelers are detail oriented. Seeing someone’s mess strikes at our OCD🤪
@ScaleModelExperiment everyone that sees my workbench says that lol. For some reason my OCD is for the models only. But I'm working on changing that!
For your first vid was alot better than some I've watched...Congrats on 5yrs I've followed the last two. Your tips are spot on some channels lately I wonder who views. I know people are different in the way they build. Some things should be seen and some shouldn't I'll leave it there lol!! Anyway I've considered starting so this vid has helped, thanks for the advice and knowledge you provide. Oh and BG is a top notch guy met him at ACME he's same in person as on video....
Thanks for supporting me for the last 2 Weasel. It’s been a journey 😁 I put this video out in an effort to help those beginning channels and give them some direction. I hope I didn’t come across as arrogant. It wasn’t the intention. Thanks again 👍
@ScaleModelExperiment James I enjoy your style of vid no BS just good solid content. And I hope to see you at a show sometime. Plan on going to Buckeye, Dayton and Zanesville this year it's about 3 hrs for me
Thanks again, I will attend Buckeye this year but not sure about zanesville. It’ll be nice to meet with you and chat.
You may have already done this James, but I don't remember, but you should do a video on your room/workspace.
I haven’t done a hobby room tour since I moved into this house almost 3 years ago. I’ll put that video on the list. Coming soon. Thanks for your support Groove I appreciate you 😎
@@ScaleModelExperiment cool!
Congratulations on 5 yrs! I have always wondered, sir. Where did you pick up those display cases? You work hard on building a nice kit just to allow them to get all dusty... drives me crazy. The single car display cases bumps the price of the kits up another $20 each. This just takes away from kits I'd like to build. Being now retired, money grows tighter haha
The ones that hold 28 cars behind me are from Carney Plastics in Ohio. They are around $150 each.
🎉
Thanks so much for watching!
Ah, how times have changed huh? :) Mate, that was a really insightful video I must say. Its a shame you don't do build videos anymore - I personally really like them, but I am just one person.
Your first video is not that bad - I've seen a lot worse. I look forward to more content from you!
Thanks Mad Hatter, the wife says she likes the first one better too! I’ll do build videos, I just won’t be disappointed anymore that they don’t do well.👍
👍
Thank you so much Ronny 👍
You need a mic... Touché🎩😎
I do!!! I had one that was Bluetooth but my new iPhone doesn’t support it. Booo, I need another one.
@ScaleModelExperiment 😊. Keep up the great vids.
Thank you!
First congrats on your 5th yr I really like your post but can't understand is iam a subscriber to many I have ask some on things only about modeling sometimes all I would get is crickets or a thumb up it's kinda like I don't have time to answer
Hi Tim, what are your questions? I’d be glad to help. I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel👍
I have one question as of rigth now I've seen some modelers paint the whole car and parts and then glue without scraping the paint off what freaking glue are they using I can't make them stick
Thank for responding
I don’t scrape parts either. I use Tamiya extra thin cement. Just a touch of it in a corner will suffice. These are shelf models and are not RC cars so I don’t worry about holding rock steady.
Watch this one and you’ll see what I mean; ruclips.net/video/UfQXWoZABV4/видео.htmlsi=RDkSgYnx0T3L0IHU
JT!👍🏻congrats on 5 years buddy! You hit the nail on the head! Connecting with the Viewer and acknowledging there comments is very important! Nice to know that our opinions matter! We only have so much time to watch videos! Spot on buddy! I don’t know how yall build and make videos! Especially with the quality content and builds you put out! I have heard that a burn pile helps keep your bench neat and tidy!😬Thanks for being you buddy! 🏆👍🏻🫡🇺🇸
Hey Kevin, I live and breathe YT ❤️. It takes me about a month to build a model so I throw in printer stuff and reviews to fill the time between build videos. You and the rest of my audience are why I do all of this. Thanks again as always bud👍
Keep up the great work 👍🏻
