    The slow, delicate steps it takes, especially with those two front legs is a mix between funny, because it looks like it's slapping the ground as it moves fast, and dainty because when it goes slower it looks very deliberate and careful :)

      I first came across one of these spiders last year when it made it's home in the corner of my ducks pen. I was terrified at first but my grandma assured me it was a friendly spider that she had seen many of in her gardens. I did some research on the spider and was fascinated. I saw it once get scared and sort of 'vibrate' on it's web, it was so cool! And apparently their web is as strong as steel at the same thickness. I gave him a grasshopper and watched him wrap it up and start eating it and from that moment on, I've not been scared of orb weavers. Still wouldn't hold one tho 😅

I even had a HUGE "pet" spider that housed itself in a funnel web by my kitchen table (no, not a funnel web spider; I live in Washington State). I think my cat ate her.....which actually pissed me off. But I've got them all over my place, mostly cellar spiders, but some common house spiders as well; they're my friends and I like having them around.

    Good stuff showing how friendly spiders can be!
    We have Rabid Wolf spiders all over my property and it came to surprise me how actually non-aggressive they are.
    They move fast, but they tend to be very hesitant to bite, even when they really just want to be left alone.
    Don't think that I'll be keeping one as a pet, but if one gets in the house or is at risk of drowning when the rainy season hits, I'll pick them up and take them to safety.
    What you have going on with yours is a great relationship.
    At the end of the day, they're just animals like any other, and the key to safe handling is understanding them and how they think.
    Spiders get a bad rep due to their alien appearance, but at the end of the day, they just want the same things we all want.

    I actually find tarantulas a lot less creepy than spiders like this, because their larger size and thicker legs makes it a lot easier to see them as little animals than little... aliens. This spider looks like something straight out of my nightmares, but tarantulas don’t get to me.

    • @beastkilla4207
      @beastkilla4207 6 лет назад +2

      Cuz the tarantulas are bigger and there less likely to bite you lol
      Small = aggression but can be turned into friendly
      Big = gentle giant more likely to be friendly right off the bat

    • @ItsHaisho
      @ItsHaisho 6 лет назад

      Stickarms99 A lot of species of tarantulas are extremely aggresive though. Not to say you can't have them as pets, but you definitely can't pick them up like you can this one; they're for looking at (although you shouldn't handle spiders too often, any way)
      If you think about it, all insects/arachnids look really weird. Once you get past that though, these guys really are amazing little creatures. I think they look pretty cool actually, but that might just be me lol

    • @ItsHaisho
      @ItsHaisho 6 лет назад

      best in class Not true. Yeah, there are species of tarantula that are gentle, but there are also a lot of species that are extremely aggressive and will try to turn your hand into their next meal if you put it any where near them. Orb weavers are actually a lot less aggressive, generally speaking, so looks don't really mean anything as far as temperament goes.
      Not trying to hate, but I just thought I'd share; a lot of people have the misconception that all tarantulas are friendly, and make better pets than spiders like this little guy, but they're actually quite lovely :)

      @@CornSnakeLance huntsmans cant kill you, but their bite can still pack a mean punch, with black widows there's a bit of a risk because their anti-venom has its own toxicity and rather dangerous side effects, wolf spiders, i had one chase me as a kid so that's why they scare me lol
