Ivy is what happens when you merge Tharja and Camilla but their respective crazy cancels out and resolves into a much more stable individual who clearly just wants to be happy and found that in two places, her family and her faith.
Which is why I like Ivy the most out of the three by far

When Ivy said “I love you.” right out of the blue in the second support I nearly spat out my soda.
I can understand budget limitations when it comes to small cutscenes like these
But oh my god I would KILL to see a fully animated sequence of Alear just spitting out tea at the dining area in the support with the wide eyed expression like in one of the pre-rendered cutscenes

Ivy is best girl, but so is Chloe, and so is Yunaka!! Too many choices. Also, I feel this game basically redid the Nohrian royal family in a better way in both Ivy and Hortensia, and I love it.
In addition, ngl, but Ivy's confession was the funniest shit I'd heard when I heard it. I just love how rushed and awkward it felt, and I just generally love how awkward and clipped Ivy sounds basically all the time.
I like the realization that she feels super nervous and awkward around Alear even though it doesn't really show outwardly.

I like how Ivy and Alear both seem to be making light of the situation in the 3rd support, her asking Alear to be more deity-like and Alear agreeing, basically in jest.
It's kind of amazing, going from how the usual sultry character in FE is to Ivy. She's not crazy, she's not pushing her assets in your face all the time, she's confident, pragmatic, mature and willing to change and fix mistakes, regardless of the cost. I'm genuinely impressed.
Finally, some reasonable and relatable girl for a change.

Ivy felt like a stalker for a brief period before they got even closer. A devout follower of the Divine Dragon who couldn't speak her mind in C rank, which changes in B rank to blossom into love at S rank (none of the English supports have romantic text except very few, but the Japanese ones have some romantic undertones).
The English ones at least distinguish the more romantic ones based on what finger the ring is being worn on (if it’s worn). If it’s the ring finger, it’s implied to be more romantic. If it’s the middle finger (real subtle IS), it’s meant to be more platonic which makes a lot more sense for the significantly younger S supports like Anna in this game.
Well, Ivy was initially a stalker when you first meet her as an enemy.
I S Supported Ivy, and I checked with her dialogue in the Somniel she does say "I love you"

Animation's definitely improved over Three Houses/Hopes, and it's certainly cute, but I still can't get over Toothpaste MC...

@John Miller Erm…Three Hopes is a spin-off of Three Houses that takes place in an alternate timeline where Byleth and Jeralt never were taken to Garreg Mach, and therefore she never had a chance to know and bond with them. It would make sense for her to only value Byleth for their Crest of Flames.
I haven’t played through Crimson Flower yet, but in Three Houses, the impression I get is that while she might have initially valued Byleth and their Crest as a tool, she came to genuinely care about them as a mentor and friend.
They’re not really comparable in my opinion - they’re two different games from different genres, with one exploring a “what if” scenario.

I don't think Awakening, Fates and Three Houses can really be called, "the older games"; they're the most recent games besides this one and the games before them did not have marriage proposals.
