      @marks90004 from what i heard from a friend of mine, even under warranty they tend to act up. he got his brand new and after around a year or so it was making a weird rattling noise. not the irritating type just a click or something every few minutes or so type. he took it back to the service center, they say no problem. sound still there. since the drive and handling is not affected he just chalk it up to the car singing him the song of its people and ignores it.

      I AGREE with you that BMWs really do have a FUN, SPORTY, & STYLISH look that make them hard to settle for the other "reliable" cars, such as Toyotas!! Don't get me wrong, I do agree that some of the cars that are called "reliable" are that, yet they are just not as fun & comfortable to drive. I think doing regular maintenance (before the manufacturers required miles, such as doing oil changes before 10k miles) is one of the ways to ensure one's BMW lasts. And it doesn't have expensive repair costs due to going too long without maintenance!!

    Nobody is calling a 4cylinder bmw the ultimate driving machine - at least I hope not. The newer (and cooler) bmws are very reliable. BMW is now ranked 3rd in reliability, much due to their B58 and S58 motors that are being put it the M2 M3 M4 and all the 40is. Regardless, if you want to drive a reliable camry thats 100% totally fine, but the people who buy unreliable cars, buy them because its worth it. Mclarens spend half the year in the shop

    I owned 3 BMWS and 2 Camrys and I learned that the German engineering is you have to do and follow the all manufacture requirements like doing certain maintenance at certain mileage or replace certain part at certain time no matter how expensive it is you have to do all that no matter how expensive it is unlike Japanese engineering it’s designed to benefit the public and how the car still runs in it’s worst conditions ever because you might not be close to home or a repair shop near … but the ride and the performance in bmw is a lot better than Toyota by a lot but of course everything comes with a price .

    I bought an 08 328i for stupid cheap. So far I've replaced plugs, ignition coil packs, non return valves, vanos solenoids, MAF sensor but besides that she's golden... As soon as I replace my abs and speed sensors. I took a clunker that was about to go to salvage and put her in shape again.

      Newer bimmers are better than the older ones in my opinion super fun B48 and B58 and pretty reliable just take care of it. Anytime is any maintenance or anything fixed do it immediately don’t hold off on it

      They didn’t just take the b58 straight from bmw and put it into the Supra, Toyota did testing and modified it to the standard of Toyota which is number 1 in reliability, and the b58 was already known as a good engine maybe there will be buyer’s remorse

    2013 BMW X3, bought with 95k miles, I’ve only ever done preventive stuff, yeah, little expensive, but in terms of reliability, it’s never broken down, never had an issue with weird noises or performance. So instead of paying HUGE corrective maintenance costs, I pay HUGE preventative maintenance costs and never stress about my car breaking down.

      @ECPP  Год назад

      Hi Roberto, it depends which one are you asking about? The earlier M2 with the n55 it is solid and the later M2 Competition and the S55 is the one to get and its a true hotrod. Carbon fouling, and crank hub, higher miles means a bit more leaks from coolant and oil, as well as the dreaded oil filter housing issues. Generally enough fun out of these cars makes them a worthy buy indeed.
