- Dark Souls Archthrones is a mod that does an incredibly tasteful job of combining elements from Demons Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring to make an experience of its own truly resembling an experience that would be a worthy sequel in the series. I consider this the closest thing to Dark Souls 4 that we have ever received. This is just the Demo covering about 30% of the finished product thats yet to release. This includes 16 bosses, and 5 Major areas setup like the archstones of Demons Souls. For my other youtube channels and platforms checkout the pinned comment below!

i love Heide's boss, he's voiced by Vaati and pulls something no other boss in Dark Souls does: He stops holding back when his health runs out and instakills you.
Archthrones is by far the best overhaul mod to date, with authenticity and atmosphere much more in mind, and its goal being to create a more faithful sequel to DS2/1. By what I've collected, there'll be 10 more areas, including a new Archthrone and subareas.
You're not fooling anyone, dev team.

This mod looks - very much - like a Prequel effort. The lands are still somewhat divided, hence the archstones. But ruin has not set in yet. the winged corvians are white-feathered and more human. The giant knights are untarnished. Lots of details just scream things are younger and more or less 'in their prime'. I suspect this story will be about the building of the firelink shrine rather than re-awakening its use.
That would be a really cool origin story but it seems more like Dark Souls 2 where everything is loosely inspired, feels kind of out of touch - unless that was the intention in which case it's just original.
Their description is a little bit misleading. If it were set before the events of DS3 there would be several discrepancies and overlaps, so it's more like a remake while being set back in the timeline.

I'm not going to lie. Seeing you "struggle" with this has convinced me I have zero, and I mean ZERO chance.
Only a very dark soul would craft a face like that.
I just finished all the content of this mod, and had a great time. Really amazing mod and it was crazy seeing Sekiro assets and move sets in this but they implemented them very well.
I feel many Dark souls like games and mods seem to miss what made the souls games actually work. Especially in this instance, having Sekiro enemies in DS3 is a fundamentally flawed idea simply because the enemies were designed with Sekiro's mechanics in mind. Multiple parries of rapid attacks to eventually break poise and go in for a fatal strike. you can't really do that in DS3 so the fact they have so many Sekiro enemy movesets is not a smart idea. They are far too quick for the intended mechanics. In a way, they're only scary because they are broken for a DS3 engine.
Additionally they seem to think Difficulty for Difficulty sake is the way to go but in reality, the DS games are only hard if you don't know what you're doing.
I mean I agree that Souls copiers do tend to get balancing way wrong. Even Lies of P gets it horribly wrong and is probably the best of the bunch. But with this Mod they get a little leeway because they're intentionally supplying it to a hardcore fanbase, and there is a sense of "what if sekiro bosses in Dark Souls" about it that most people are happy to grapple with.
And let's not pretend FROM don't get it wrong either. Demon of Hatred is literally a Bloodborne dodge paced boss in Sekiro, the parry game. And Elden Ring is full of bosses that feel like they aren't attuned to the stamina base system essentially copied from DS3. A lot of them don't reward you with openings and just keep on going, and you don't have much of a way to stop them in their tracks, beyond stunning them with overpowered jumping attacks.

It's obviously not going to happen. FromSoft is more than capable of doing this themselves, but they need to be mindful of deadlines and not overworking themselves.
tbh i hope these guys get to make their own studios an make their stand alone high quality soulslikes so fromsoft finally has some competition

Nioh 2 is one of the best souls-like games in the library. The number of hours I've put in that game is criminal. Highly recommend a light Ninjitsu build.
I think the writing could be a bit better; some of the names are kinda funky, and I am not really a fan of dual bossfights either, but it's really cool and it shows what is possible and will be possible knowing this project is still in the works.
Awesome mod dude. Thanks for sharing, but it should be easier if you use swords with both hands since you barely used the shield in boss fights.
Mods like this is why I wished I would have a pc or owners of the game would come out and be like “wanna help us bring this to console?”
Funny thing. For a long time now I've dreamt of a convergence project, wishing for what was essentially a remake of DS1 and DS2 that is engineered with DS3s mechanics where coop/pvp multiplayer overlaps and a single character can choose to migrate between Lordran, Drangleic or Lothric after each playthrough to continue finding new gear (fashion) and spells exclusive to those worlds. You can warp back to the worlds where you have already defeated the final boss to clean up anything missed (including progressing it to NG+) but you need to complete the world that you are on to unlock another world of your choosing.
Picture it. One minute you are fighting through the Upper Undead Burg, next you are being summoned as a very otherworldly helper in the Forest of Fallen Giants or the High Wall of Lothric. You can go help the Mirror Knight in DS2 but also continue your duty as a Spear of the Church. The whole thing with parallel universes colliding in this franchise helps it fit.
i would love to try this mod. they put more effort than activision does with code and even more than Blizzard did to Overwatch.
(i just wish it was in elden ring for convenience reasons)

If you want one, youll get one. And you are in luck, Dark Souls games are easy to run so you dont need to go overkill with the specs
I have been able to play every soulslike released by fromsoft on a 1050ti, ryzen 1500x. Nowadays you can get parts better than that for very cheap, so if you're able to scrap together some money for a PC you'll definitely be able to play these games!
As much as I know I'd be terrible at it. Kremmel looks like an awesome fight. I still suck at fighting Radagon so it would take me forever to even see phase 2.

There is one thing I think isn’t always consistent, and it’s the voice acting. Some sound like they came straight from a souls game, and some sound like amateur voice actors that don’t really hold a candle to the voice acting in the souls games

Soulsborne games aren't action-rpgs.
They're rhythm exploration games with jump scares. Each boss has a rhythm you need to figure out in order to beat them, right? Don't follow the rhythm, you get squashed. It's Gothic Parappa the Rapper.

It's crazy how carefully and defensively you play these bosses. On Janara you punished almost no attack and just went for slow and safe, I would have played it so differently

The ds3 faraam helmet model does not fit the character, and is an overall down grade from ds2
I'm actually kind of mad the Archthrones team wasted such a cool and obviously edgy character on a shoddy, goofy voice actor like VaatiVidya. Such a miscast that it doesn't even serve any purpose as a *meme.*
