Being bad at the game (which he beat) and not liking the design of the dlc is two different things. You’re being emotional about a difference of opinion.
@@Budd631 he beat the game once and u think he Is good at the game ? Maybe u dont undersand what "be good" means, also i have eyes, i saw how he play the game, he suck
@@justinchancellorlegod8057ds1 is by far the easiest, it was my first souls game and I think I beat every boss in 1 to 2 tries, ds2 I actually had some hard bosses like ivory sihn, Elana, fume, smelter, alonne, etc
Exactly. I considered it a lore minigame to see which places I recognized. Like, Kalameet's boss arena later becomes the lake where we fight the hydra. Elizabeth's sanctuary eventually turned into Sif's boss room. The elevator to Artorias later became Alvina's favorite sitting spot And so forth.
The artorias dlc take was weak, the fact that it’s the same place u knew but back in time is why it’s my favorite dlc. Darkroot in modern times is very hard to maneuver and very dark, so it was very pleasing to see the place flooded with life and clarity
the first area of the hunters nightmare doesn't feel rehashed at all. the layout and the interactions are entirely different, and the area that replaces yahar'gul is completely new
I absolutely agree with how the dlcs elevate the base game. DS3 didn't NEED ringed city to be a great game, well at least to most people. It could've honestly just gotten ashes for just friede and it would've been a great game but the fact that it introduced the best dragon boss and the best single fight in the soulsborne series is insanej
it's good and i honestly disagree with aava being a bad fight like he said in the video, he just needs better attack telegraphs. but the enemies especially those fucking hedgehogs are just bad enemy design. the area itself is cool and same with the burnt ivory king but damn is the level design really bad.
Okay, Burnt Ivory King was an amazing boss. He's definitely in my personal top 10 list of favorite FromSoft bosses. Eleum Loyce itself has a pretty good layout. I liked the golems, knights, soldiers, retainers, and ghosts. Plus, Mauldron is an absolute ICON of an invader NPC. I love Mauldron. But Frigid Outskirts (particularly the reindeer), Lud & Zallen, the hedgehogs, and the lackluster weapon rewards were some major downsides. A lot of the weapons in Crown of the Ivory King genuinely sucked. I only enjoy four things about Ivory King. 1) Burnt Ivory King (and related "quests") 2) Mauldron 3) the amazing armor and fashion 4) Eye of the Priestess works in Shaded Woods/Ruins in base game.
While I personally think Old Hunters was the best DLC, I'd say DS3 has the best "DLC content" as a whole. The two dlc's combined are noticeably bigger than the old hunters and have more memorable bosses.
I mean ashes costed 15 usd for one level wtf is that.. I’m pretty sure old hunters was only 20 so it’s pretty stupid to compare two dlcs for 30 vs one for 20
I simply do not agree Love ds3 and its dlcs to death but with the exception of painted world of ariandel i feel like pretty much every area in the ds3 dlcs is shorter than the areas in bloodborne’s dlc, dreg heap and ringed city both ended wayyyyy before i thought they should’ve. Even ds2 dlcs were longer in my experience lol. Can’t comment on the bosses tho that’s like picking between my children.
@samfartson881 so then why does it not bother you that fishing hamlet is quite a small area with a very linear corridor progression, and the hunters nightmare is a reskin?
@@mikhailkalinin6536 fishing hamlet has enough branching paths for me that it never feels extremely linear to me. Saying that hunters nightmare is a reskin is kinda crazy to me, it makes more than enough changes that calling it a reskin is p inaccurate imo.
Dude the rehashing take is bad imo, I guess the magic didn’t work on u but for most people seeing old places in this new completely different light is shockingly good, I’ve had the new area screen a million times in souls, I don’t need something completely new for a dlc, if that were all that mattered then there’d be no difference between a dlc and a main game area
the DS2 boss run backs are hard because they weren’t meant to be done solo. the summoning stones right before the run was the intent but no one ever uses them, especially now as time goes on. they were trying to promote multiplayer gameplay
My DLC ranking would go like this : 7 - Crown of the Sunken King 6 - Crown of the Ivory King 5 - Ashes of Ariandel 4 - Crown of the Old Iron King 3 - Artorias of the Abyss 2 - The Ringed City 1 - The Old Hunters
I disagree that Dark Souls 3 doesn't have any major flaws. It does my favorite thing about the Souls games the worse, and that is exploration. Dark Souls 3 is too linear. It doesn't have those intricate shortcuts or paths that wrap back around to a previous area. Its mostly just a straight shot from beginning to end game, which I kind of hate. I love it when it's possible to get lost in the world of these games and find myself asking "where the hell am I?" I like the sense of adventure and journey, and Dark Souls 3 really doesn’t do this for me. Even Dark Souls 2 does a better job at this. It's less linear, and it has sheer size going for it. There's way more possible instances where the player can be left wondering where the hell they are.
I agree, but I don't think any souls game fromsoft makes will ever truly return to the way you could get lost in ds1 since being able to warp from the start of the game became the norm in ds2. I mean look at ds3, I love it but having the first area you go to after the tutorial only be reachable by warping is kind of ridiculous. The first half of ds1 is really untouchable as far as that goes, unless from switches things up with their next game, but I can imagine they wouldn't want to alienate all the new fans who started with elden ring by taking such a big feature away. demons souls total lack of bonfires between the start and finish of an area gets somewhat close to it, I could really see them returning to that before removing warping for a portion of the game completely
@@Mbrace818 if you're in a dungeon maybe, but the game literally has a map that you can fast travel from. you can definitely get lost trying to find a site of grace but thats the same with finding bonfires in all the games. There has never been a souls game where you could get back to safety as easily as Elden Ring since you don't even need to make your way back to a bonfire, just pull up the map and dip. its like unlimited homeward bones but you have a map to look at so you can get right back to the place you were before without too much trouble.
@whodatismeishe When I say "getting lost" I don't necessarily mean literally getting lost and struggling to get back to some previous more familiar area. I simply mean the sense of stumbling across some obscure area that deviates from some main path and finding myself wondering where the hell I am. Elden Ring is so vast, dense and expansive that it does the best job at this. The underground areas in particular invoke this feeling quite well. Yes, I can just Warp out of there, but the place still left me wondering "wtf is this place? Why is it here? Where does it lead to?"
@@Mbrace818 ah i see, I misunderstood your original comment then, yeah Elden Ring does do a good job at that, there are so many different routes you can take and places to find
I’m pretty sure you didn’t mean it that way, but I feel like there’s no way you actually mean that Sir Allone’s run back is the worst in the series when Reindeer Fuckland exists
Frigid Outskirts does not come with a time limit on top of everything else and since the boss and its loot at the end is completely forgettable you don't miss anything if you skip it.
The fact that you put an entire DLC over both Eleum Loyce and Shulva (both DLCs having so muvh personality and interesting stuff about them) just because of the final boss is kind of insane. Yes, Frida is an amazing boss. Yes, you don't like DS2, but also-, putting the bosses SO over everything else is such a weird thing imo. Same with the Ringed City. Gael is my favorite boss of the franchise, Midir is my favorite dragon fight, the Demon Prince is great too, I like the lore and the Ringed Knights are cool both in design and as enemies But is it really deserving of the first place??? There are 2 swamps in the DLC, both full of annoying enemies which only purpose is to avoid you from exploring the zone (mainly referring to the angels, but the Ringed City archers are just as annoying kill you extremely fast). The Dreg Heap is literally just a corridor that if you want to explore you have to teleport back to the bonfire for every path you take, and the Ringed City is not that much bettee either, while also being full of ganks. It is definitely NOT the best DLC, but people just forget about all the problems of the DLC just because of the boss fights
@@Uncle-Junior 1. It wasn’t mentioned in this video 2. Bunnychi is most certainly referencing this video 3. No one mixes it up with dlc and also thinks it’s the worst
I love old hunters, but I feel like it would have been great if it belonged to the base game and it wasn't a DLC, since it has important lore regarding Lady Maria and Kos... Kos was the final boss for me, I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere, how tragic it was, amazing.
Ashes is by far the worst of the DLCs, with its only redeeming factor being Sister Friede. The runbacks in DS2 Gauntlet areas being "bad" is because those specific optional areas were designed for coop play first and foremost, hence the high enemy density. My favorites are: 7. Ashes 6. Artorias 5. Ivory 4. Iron 2~. Sunken and Ringed 1. Old
the ds3 dlcs were supposed to be one dlc to begin with, but namco bandai said no to that and forced from to split development between the two, i judge them as 1 dlc anyway, and that way it is a much better dlc than old hunters, as much as i love it. better bosses, better areas, better enemies, better more vertical level design etc etc.
Definitely not, the only problem it has is it's size and the npc boss, but everything else is perfect- great level design, weapons, enemies, atmosphere and the incredible final boss
This is not a good list. I get not liking DS2, it's a personal preference although i don't agree. But putting the RInged City at number 1? The DLC has two swamps and the city is just a glorified corridor with enemy spam. The only highlight of the DLC are the 3 great boss fights (demons, Midir and Gael), but even that is brought down by Halflight.
Dude right?? The ringed city die NOT feel like a city, shit was just like the rest of ds3, dissapointing, ans derivative of earlier games without the same special spice that made it work. I like Gael, personally dislike midir, and love demons. The area surrounding them is so subpar tho
@@fejesbalint2749damn and I was about to agree but if u wanna talk boring areas ariendel is the least interesting place to traverse I’ve ever been, it just felt like an extra boring ariamis with a better boss
my friend, you should try fighting Maria without a gun, even her phirst phase can be a maneace. As u said, its usually pretty easy and goes by fast with parries and r1 spam, but if you stay ling enough for her to transform her weapon into the twinblade and you actually have to dodge it, things get messy 😬
I really do agree with the majority of ur list. The only thing I’d change is the third dlc of ds2. Due to the lore of the dlc and old ivory king id rank it two maybe three spots higher. I think it’s better than first dlc of ds2 and 3. But other than that I agree with the list
Cool list and I love Ringed city but it has allot of annoying things, ghosts spamming arrows, angels spamming spells, 2 swamps, a complete unnecessary dragonslayer armour reskin, the skeleton part after Midir and Halflight is beyond bad even Living Failures is miles better. I also cant remenber a single important weapon while Old Hunters has some of the best weapons in the entire game. Also every area in the Old hunters represents extremelly important parts of Bloodborne lore, first area we find Ludwig and Laurence, Second all about Maria story 3rd about Mother kos Maria and Gherman Ds3 is pretty much just Gael. Music - Bloodborne Dlc Weapons - Bloodborne Dlc Lore - Bloodborne Dlc Bosses - Maybe a tie but Blodborne has 1 more boss Areas - Bloodborne Dlc Atmosphere - Bloodborne Dlc I believe though Elden Ring will become their very best. Super high hopes.
Interesting. I'd rank 'em differently, but that's personal taste. Still, for the sake if discussion, here goes: 1) Shadow of the Erdtree 2) Old Hunters 3) Artorias of the Abyss 4) Crown of the Old Iron King 5) Ringed City 6) Crown of the Sunken King 7) Crown of the Ivory King 8) Ashes of Ariandel I simply didn't like DS3 as a whole, on a game mechanic basis, and I won't specify why. This is why those DLCs are, admittedly, lower than where they should be on a purely impartial basis. I know I'm biased against them. I can't say Eleum Loyce was my favorite, but I loved the spectacle of Burnt Ivory King enough that it's above Ashes of Ariandel. Otherwise, despite good level design in Eleum Loyce itself, the Frigid Outskirts and the lackluster weapons were terrible. I loved the quality of Artorias of the Abyss. The level design, art design, and boss design was REALLY good, all the way through. Not a single bad point about it. Conversely to your experience, I also loved the King's Woods, as forested areas tend to be my favorite in most games. The fact that it was similar to the Darkroot Forest was actually a massive plus for me, as it was really neat to see what it was like in the past. Nothing was quite as cool as realizing that Kalameet's arena is where you fought the hydra in Darkroot Basin, or that Elizabeth's stonehenge sanctuary later became Sif's boss room, and so on. It was a good appetizer course in preparation for Oolacile. [HERE ON, BE ELDEN SPOILERS] [HERE ON, BE ELDEN SPOILERS] [HERE ON, BE ELDEN SPOILERS] I loved Shadow of the Erdtree. I only have two gripes: 1) the unexpectedness of "somewhere, a Great Rune shattered" skipping a few NPC quests. I missed Thiollier's and Moore's back and forth, and I didn't realize that answering Moore's question right away would suddenly move him to the end of the DLC. Pro tip, talk to Thiollier ASAP before exploring too far, and don't answer Moore's question until right after Messmer. Speaking of, there's four NPCs whose questline progression must be done before (or for Hornsent, DURING Messmer). I wish the "Great Rune shattering" and Moore's progression was a little bit more explicit/hinted because I thought I was safe to explore every side path before doing legacy dungeons or even meeting every NPC. I was not. 2) the final boss of the DLC genuinely sucked. It's a travesty to have a DLC completely full of absolutely amazing bosses, only for the last one to be a genuinely terrible experience. It leaves on a horribly sour note. Literally every boss was either amazing or at least moderately good, and then we had... and then there was [redacted]. That was a genuinely disgustingly bad fight. 2.5) Further, in regards to lore, NPC quests hinted at the final DLC boss's identity earlier on, even a few times, and to be real, I also wish that it just... wasn't who it ended up being. I wish we finally got to see Godwyn the Golden or the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and we got neither. That also sucked. Fuck, I really wish Miquella had taken more of an interactive NPC role, instead of being basically non-existent until the very end. That sucked too. Genuinely loved everything else about Shadow of the Erdtree. Messmer, Midra, and Metyr might also be my favorite boss fights that FromSoft made. The lore was also pretty darn good, especially for Marika and Messmer - although everything involving Miquella was rather lackluster.
Funny how you put the Hunter's Nightmare as a downside to Old Hunters, since I actually consider it a highlight. For me, seeing this alternate version of Cathedral Ward was incredibly cool and interesting, both from a story and visual perspective. The same also applies to Artorias of the Abyss, though to a much lesser extent there. I really love seeing and comparing the contrast between the two areas and pondering why and how they are different in those ways, not to mention just the nostalgia aspect of seeing a new side of something you're familiar with. I guess most people dislike "reused" things by default, but I never found them to be a problem. Maybe it's just me, but even the many repeated enemies in Elden Ring or Lords of the Fallen were never a negative, and some reuses like these areas in the dlc, Loretta and even Crucible Knights and Pursuers are just a straight positive.
For me DS1 is the best , intrestingly its my 4th souls game and 3rd dlc. The Boss quality is insane especially compared to 2nd part of the game. The way khalameet has to be shot down is really memorable for me. Artorias speaks for its self and manus is really great too. Darkroot basin is one of my fav areas, so im happy with the reskin. The oolicle town just have an atmosphere which i love.
Phew! Brave fella, but I appreciate voicing your opinion. You'll definitely get a lot of chatter with them. Thanks for the video, but i must also politely tell you that The Old Hunters is the greatest DLC ever attached to the greatest game ever.
DS2 haters get so hyper-focused on the issues like we don't also dislike those aspects. Meanwhile DS1 gets a pass on literary everything because it has an iNtErCoNnEcTeD wOrLd. Dont get me wrong I love that about DS1. What are the best DS1 bosses? Artorias, O & S, Manus, Khalameet, and maybe even Sanctuary Guardian. While DS2 has Sir Alonne, Ivory King, Sinh, Darklurker, Fume Knight, and maybe even the Pursuer. Same goes with levels. For as many bad bosses/levels as DS2 has it has even more GOOD bosses/levels than DS1.
These bosses dont compare with artorias kalameet OnS .Ds2 bosses are mediocre at best in terms of overall quality there are like 42 bosses ds2.The world design of ds1 is miles better from ds2 and the lore obviously shouldn't be a debate. The only thing that make me enjoy the game is the unique areas and because it was my first game.Sotfs sucks no debate it ruins the base game and the dlc arent worth playing. There are some good bosses but nothing special
the bosses you listed for ds1 is literally 10 times better and harder than the bosses you listed for ds2. sir alonne's lore is great but he's really easy and maybe even velstadt level easy. fume knight is just delayed 1 shot attacks that's only possible to beat on below 10 tries if you don't wear any armor while using a rapier. if you're a tank build then good luck. sinh when compared to kalameet is piss easy too and darklurker is literally nothing when faced with 100%/90% elemental block shields. pursuer is also really cheeseable with the balistas. atleast if you want to cheese bosses in ds1 it requires some work while ds2 is just looking up a 2 minute video on youtube.
For me, who didn't play Bloodborne Worst to best DS2 Poison dlc DS2 snow DS3 Frieda (I don't like this dlc, Fried is the only good thing) DS2 Iron king DLC Ds1 Artorias Ds3 Ringed city (I judge how much they add to the game, how much its core experience of the game)
I mean, I am a dark souls 2 fan but the few times I went through each of the dlc for the game I hated each of them but I like the base game. Only real positive I would say personally that the dlcs offer is just the addition of more rings but besides that I'm good with just the base game but I would go through artorias of the abyss dlc or the other one in dark souls 1 again. So yeah I gave dark souls 2 some negativity for those that don't like it at least.
@@jamesbell1186 along with Brador and The two fucks after Ludwig but before the research hall. Also whirligig saw, arguably the second best strength weapon
Dark Souls 3 had no major flaws.. We 've heard that. All other games up to that were INNOVATIVE and introduced something TRULY new (even if some of these innovations were not to everyone's liking), while DS3 did none of that. DS3 has the most and more serious flaws: -Uninspired Lore. Everything just a fan service looking back to DS1. -The worst level design. Everything is linear and boring. -The worst atmosphere. Almost every area has the same colour palette with these dark blue filters, and it's full of reused Bloodborne assets (why so many tombstones with no real purpose). -Uninspired gameplay. R1 spam fest everywhere. It can be FUN, especially if this is your first game, because it's faster and feels more fluid, but it is uninspired. - Boring weapons and spells. Everyone agrees that if DS2 did something right was Dueling and the original weapons and spells and NG+. Everything was dumbed down once again. From weapons, to spells, to infusion system, to buffing etc. -Terrible balance. -Boring NG+. Why not keep something like that? The only things that DS3 actually did good was Bosses. The more extended moveset of the weapons was nice, but not in expense of the more interesting weapons, power stance, counter damage modifiers, several weak and strong points on the weapons and generally all the good innovations that DS2 made and had no reason to let go. DS2 did a lot of questionable things. But it introduced also a lot of mechanics and system that were universally embraced as GOOD. I cannot accept that DS3 took a huge step back and simplified the game way too much by disregarding almost everything good. When we were waiting for DS3 to come out with Miyazaki as the lead, we were excited because we truly wanted to see what he can do with all these concepts, and to re introduce them in a more polished manner. But it did none of that. All we got was a faster DS1 with some impressive bosses, but worse at everything else.
one of the things im maddest about is how DS2 is still the only souls game with good backsteps, backsteps in every other fromsoft game are an useless move only used for skip setups and stuff like no left stick, but in DS2 backsteps were super fast, consumed very little stamina and had a couple s, basically being a superior roll in all ways...exept being way tighter in timing, which I don't need to explain why it was amazing, in general I come back to DS2 the most out of the trilogy due to its amazing balance(to this day the only game where poison is trully viable, or miracles, etc), options of traversing, unique movesets and weapon concepts, varied level design, etc, id personally say DS2 has better bosses then DS1, people often forget how simplistic and often times bad DS1 bosses were with the a couple notable exeptions, and when DS1 had bad bosses they were insanely awful and mandatory, DS2 does have stinkers, but all stinkers are completely optional and often give nothing good(lud and zallen literally give nothing of note, bed of chaos is required to beat the game), DS2 imo also has more memorable and unique bosses, DS1 outside the DLC has 4 bosses id consider good, gwyn, queelag, ornstein and smough and four kings. DS3's bosses are phenomenal, by far the best bosses in the trilogy, but the issue is that its just that, areas are so easy to run through while enemies are often very overtuned in areas like irithyl, that playing the game is a worse experience then just running, picking up items needed, and heading to the next boss, its fun to go on a boss killing spree, but idk, it feels like thats all that dS3 is, which is insanely bad when you consider the pricing, DS1 and DS2, with dlc's included, is 40$, and gives a ton more value then DS3, meanwhile DS3 is 90 including dlc, 90 fucking dollars, and is it worth it at all? the bosses are amazing, gael imo being the best boss fight ive ever fought, so yeah, but compared to DS1 and DS2 its teribly overpriced.
-its a a sequel of course itll have a continuation of lore to the first game -it is a bit too linear but there are still a handful of areas you can completely miss because you didnt explore enough -id argue it has a better atmosphere than the first two games, you can sense the doom and gloom that has overset the world and while it is abundant i think calling the atmosphere on its own boring is a bit silly -you control the weapons you use and the buttons you press -i admittedly dont use any spells because i find the gameplay boring but off the top of my head i could name more memorable ds3 weapons than ds2 weapons. ds2 was plagued with a lot of pretty mediocre boring weapons imo -every soulsborne game has bad balance. if youre talking about pve then refer to point 4. if you're talking about pvp them thats pvp. -i agree with you there
Back then I played it right after I finished the platinum so the character was in Ng+3 and underlevelled as hell with bad charms. To this day probably the second hardest thing I ever did in gaming .. Ludwig kicked my ass for several days :D
@@IceMyseri had the exact same experience, ng+3 and underleveled. Ludwig and laurence took me hours each, wayy harder than anything else in the series.
Agreed with most of your takes but I think the arguments made for the first pick aren’t strong. I think the boss quality between Bloodborne and DS3 is comparable (think of weaker bosses like Curse-Rotted Greatwood, Crystal Sage, Wolnir, Yhorm), and I actually think Bloodborne has far more consistent level design quality. But regardless, I disagree with the approach of considering how each DLC “elevates” the base game, since I find it more relevant comparing the DLCs by the actual content they contain. It just kinda felt like you were finding an excuse to elevate it over Old Hunters by not making an argument about the content of the DLCs themselves. Regardless, good video tho, cant argue too much since Ringed City is comparable with Old Hunters, as you mention yourself
DS3 has more top tier bosses in it's base game than BB does . Lets not count the DLCS just the base game . DS3 just has an overall higher boss quality , BB excels more in other areas overall than DS3 but bosses DS3 just wins hands down despite having a few stinkers , every game has some lame bosses . There are 3 bosses for that would be A tier in BB for me - Father Gascoigne , Martyr Logarius and Gehrman . 2 B tier bosses - Ebrietas and Vicar Amelia . Everything else would be C tier or lower , that is BB's biggest weakness in it's base game the bosses . DS3 on the other hand - A tier -Abyss Watchers , Pontiff Sulyvahn , Dancer of the Boreal Valley , Champion Gundyr , Twin Princes , Nameless King , Soul of Cinder , 2 B tier bosses - Aldritch and Dragonslayer Armor , the others are C tier of worse . BB overall as a game is the better and more original experience but the bosses DS3 takes it hands down . The Old Hunters has 3 fantastic bosses , 1 good one and 1 bad one , it makes BB so much better as a game because you get 3 fantastic fights . Ringed City also has 3 fantastic bosses with 1 bad one so it evens it out . Its hard for me to imagine with or without the DLC that BB has better quality bosses as a whole than DS3 as a whole , it just flat out doesn't . This is why DS3 is more fun to replay because of the sheer amount of high quality bosses compared to BB .
Awesome video! Nice list i agree with most of it the only thing i would change is the place of dark souls 1 dlc with the dark souls 2 dlc crown of the old iron king but i agree with your placement as well since the dark souls 2 old iron king dlc is also amazing
18:28 No, we don't. I mean, sure, Micolash, Rom, Witches, Celestials, and One Reborn are hot garbage, but there's also; Cleric Beast Gascoigne Amelia BSB Paarl Shadows of Yharnam Amygdala Ebreitas Logarius Wet Nurse Gherman These are good or great bosses, and they still make up a good majority of the boss roster for the base game. So I don't understand where this baseless point came from.

I didn't even finish The Ringed City too far after the demons fight. It's just annoying, tedious, gimmicky area after annoying, tedious, gimmicky area after annoying, tedious, gimmicky area. I hear Slave Knight Gael is one of the best bosses, but I also hear the middle two bosses are some of the worst so you can't really convince me to give it another chance.
Hard to rank any of the DLCs. I love all of them. Obviously it's tempting to just say Old Hunters is the best, but honestly, I'm not in love with the Hunter's Nightmare as an area. I love fighting the old hunters, but the area is meh. Research Hall is a giant pain in the ass, even if I like the aesthetic. Fishing Hamlet is pretty great, but seriously fck those Sharks, most annoying normal enemy in all the games. More and more, I really dig the Dreg Heap, and I mostly like the Ringed City, even if the swamp area brings it down. I also happen to love Ashes of Ariandel. It's probably a tie between Bloodborne and DS3's dlcs. DS1 and DS2's dlcs are all amazing. Maybe Ivory King is at the bottom of the list, but I still look forward to playing it, except Frigid Outskirts. Please give us a Sekiro dlc or sequel.
4:02 dude idk. I know it’s a totally different genre but Fallout 3 and New Vegas has $10 dlc expansions and those were fire. Well… most were. I think if a consumer is expected to pay extra for content, said content should be “good” despite the price. If you’re making me pay for more game, it needs to be as good or better than the base game IMO.
Sorry, I do not fully understand your comment. Perhaps you didn't know it existed? If that's the case, you can return to that location later in the DLC, and two of them will be in the boss arena. I don't exactly remember when they spawn, but they do, and they're hard. They're very, very hard.
The cringe of seeing somebody say how annoying the runback of Sir Alonne is while not using the phantoms. "oH bUt ThEn..." no, the phantoms are there for a reason. If you can't identify a tool then you are just bad at the game.
now I haven't played ds2 dlc cause everytime I do play ds2 I get frustrated and want to throw the disc out and set it on fire due to how annoying it is and I haven't played ds1 dlc since I'm dreading the last half but the other 3 I have beaten so although it's more of a top 3 it will change whenever I decide to not become a vampire and thrust a stake into my heart imbedded in garlic 3. ashes of ariandel. decent design with only great thing being sister friede(favorite boss in souls) and the other boss while I don't think is great, I also don't think it's bad 2. lost city. oh boy am I gonna get hate for this one. personally, I hate the area of the city, I'd probably like it more if there weren't dozens of arrows coming my way and angels shooting holy arrows (yes i do know you can kill the angels but its more worth just running). then the area is just bland like an unseasoned steak, but bosses are killer. you got twin princes (my favorite lost city boss), midir, and gael, hot take gael overrated and if halflight didn't have that summon he wouldn't be nearly as hated on as he is (still a meh fight with boring dialogue in the beginning). 1. old hunters. just recently beat this and my god is it wonderful. ludwig easily took me over 100 attempts with me being level 50 with a +7 whirligig and going up the tower, while annoying, was disturbing which is why we all love bloodborne. Orphan and maria were also amazing being some of the top bosses in souls (and probably gaming) with maria not taking me as long as orphan (again probably over 100 while also playing with my uncle). then Laurence which was pretty fun, ik a lot of people hate the tantrum attack but for me I just looped in a J formation and it worked fine and not locking on during 1st phase also helped. while this was a basic b list idc because at the end of the day I had fun and loved taking down these bosses and exploring areas and I hope elden ring shadow of the erdtree will take my number one
now that ER dlc is out I gotta say after beating it.... its still not as good as old hunters or ring city imo. The bosses are good in ER DLC but the entire dlc is filled with almost nothing.
and what is filled in ringed city? A whole lot of nothing lmao 3 boss fights doesn’t make it better you guys act like they gave such good rewards in that dlc I swear they haven’t played it in years
@@Stanzbey69 I agree I never thought midir was that sick just annoying its cool you see him multiple times and the arena is cool but the fight is nothing special
"This DLC [Artorias of the Abyss] gives me a reason to not debate quitting when I have gained the ability to warp." Personally, the DLC gives me a reason to play the DLC. In my two most recent DS1 playthroughs, I did the DLC immediately after receiving the Lordvessel, and then stopped. Most of the rest of DS1's second half sucks, and after beating Manus and Kalameet you have already beaten the game's hardest bosses and should have your build mostly complete, so there's really not a whole lot left to do but beat the game.
The ringed city areas are very mid tbh , the old hunters have 3 amazing areas with more memorable moments , better enemies , better lore and bosses are debatable ( I prefer the ringed city ) , I think it's not even a debate old hunters is way better
Showing Lords of the Fallen as a bad example is kinda unfair. Yes the starting class did cost extra, but apart from the necessity to deliver over 30 patches to make it a good game, the delivered the Randomizer mod, new classes, new quests and items and most recently a boss rush mode at absolutely no cost. So everyone how went away from the game, because it was so annoying, go back, you’ll have a totally now experience, then one everybody hoped for
Have the ds3 glazers even replayed ringed city in years? It isn’t even all that the levels are mid just cause it has a cool few bosses doesn’t make it better the level design in shadow keep clears anything in ds3 imo
u gotta keep in mind that dark souls 3 is fairly old.And elden ring is newer and open world where dark souls 3 is linear open world.Tho the erdtree dlc is good but i think overall boss fight quality is better in ringed city and just feel way more satisfying to fight

Shadow of the Erdtree will have the best boss fights in any of these dlc. I would go even farther to say in the entire series. Remember this comment and come back post Shadow of the Erdtree to tell me how right I was about this lol.
I agree, but many will complain about how the bosses have too many delayed attacks, too many combos and barely any openings and then compare them to DS3 bosses 😂😂.

The first area in the Artorias DLC being “familiar” is the whole point of the DLC. You’re going back to Darkroot Garden in the past.
Exactly. I considered it a lore minigame to see which places I recognized.
Like, Kalameet's boss arena later becomes the lake where we fight the hydra.
Elizabeth's sanctuary eventually turned into Sif's boss room.
The elevator to Artorias later became Alvina's favorite sitting spot
And so forth.
The artorias dlc take was weak, the fact that it’s the same place u knew but back in time is why it’s my favorite dlc. Darkroot in modern times is very hard to maneuver and very dark, so it was very pleasing to see the place flooded with life and clarity

Doing this before shadow of the erd tree wasnt really the best idea
My DLC ranking would go like this :
7 - Crown of the Sunken King
6 - Crown of the Ivory King
5 - Ashes of Ariandel
4 - Crown of the Old Iron King
3 - Artorias of the Abyss
2 - The Ringed City
1 - The Old Hunters
@@whodatiscody Umm, Elden Ring? It does the best job by far in providing a world to get lost in.
Just beat osieros in my first playthrough with this video playing in the background 🙏😭
Gael is my favorite boss of the franchise, Midir is my favorite dragon fight, the Demon Prince is great too, I like the lore and the Ringed Knights are cool both in design and as enemies
But is it really deserving of the first place??? There are 2 swamps in the DLC, both full of annoying enemies which only purpose is to avoid you from exploring the zone (mainly referring to the angels, but the Ringed City archers are just as annoying kill you extremely fast). The Dreg Heap is literally just a corridor that if you want to explore you have to teleport back to the bonfire for every path you take, and the Ringed City is not that much bettee either, while also being full of ganks. It is definitely NOT the best DLC, but people just forget about all the problems of the DLC just because of the boss fights

The runbacks in DS2 Gauntlet areas being "bad" is because those specific optional areas were designed for coop play first and foremost, hence the high enemy density.

the ds3 dlcs were supposed to be one dlc to begin with, but namco bandai said no to that and forced from to split development between the two, i judge them as 1 dlc anyway, and that way it is a much better dlc than old hunters, as much as i love it. better bosses, better areas, better enemies, better more vertical level design etc etc.
Definitely not, the only problem it has is it's size and the npc boss, but everything else is perfect- great level design, weapons, enemies, atmosphere and the incredible final boss
I think shadow of the erdtree has dethroned every dlc that ever existed..

I simply didn't like DS3 as a whole, on a game mechanic basis, and I won't specify why.

I loved Shadow of the Erdtree. I only have two gripes:
1) the unexpectedness of "somewhere, a Great Rune shattered" skipping a few NPC quests.

I think Black dragon kalameet is the best dragon fight because there’s no flying bs it is a straight up fight with a dragon no strings attached

Dark Souls 3 had no major flaws.. We 've heard that. All other games up to that were INNOVATIVE and introduced something TRULY new (even if some of these innovations were not to everyone's liking), while DS3 did none of that. DS3 has the most and more serious flaws:
-Uninspired Lore.
And the bosses are all dodge roll simulators
Yeah DS3 is totally the weakest of the trilogy
Lmao we got all the ds2 dickriders here
one of the things im maddest about is how DS2 is still the only souls game with good backsteps, backsteps in every other fromsoft game are an useless move only used for skip setups and stuff like no left stick, but in DS2 backsteps were super fast, consumed very little stamina and had a couple s, basically being a superior roll in all ways...exept being way tighter in timing, which I don't need to explain why it was amazing, in general I come back to DS2 the most out of the trilogy due to its amazing balance(to this day the only game where poison is trully viable, or miracles, etc), options of traversing, unique movesets and weapon concepts, varied level design, etc, id personally say DS2 has better bosses then DS1, people often forget how simplistic and often times bad DS1 bosses were with the a couple notable exeptions, and when DS1 had bad bosses they were insanely awful and mandatory, DS2 does have stinkers, but all stinkers are completely optional and often give nothing good(lud and zallen literally give nothing of note, bed of chaos is required to beat the game), DS2 imo also has more memorable and unique bosses, DS1 outside the DLC has 4 bosses id consider good, gwyn, queelag, ornstein and smough and four kings.
-its a a sequel of course itll have a continuation of lore to the first game
-it is a bit too linear but there are still a handful of areas you can completely miss because you didnt explore enough
-id argue it has a better atmosphere than the first two games, you can sense the doom and gloom that has overset the world and while it is abundant i think calling the atmosphere on its own boring is a bit silly
-you control the weapons you use and the buttons you press
-i admittedly dont use any spells because i find the gameplay boring but off the top of my head i could name more memorable ds3 weapons than ds2 weapons. ds2 was plagued with a lot of pretty mediocre boring weapons imo
-every soulsborne game has bad balance. if youre talking about pve then refer to point 4. if you're talking about pvp them thats pvp.
-i agree with you there
My only problem with Old Hunters and its not the dlc's fault is that i am playing it in ng+
Back then I played it right after I finished the platinum so the character was in Ng+3 and underlevelled as hell with bad charms.
To this day probably the second hardest thing I ever did in gaming .. Ludwig kicked my ass for several days :D
Yeah i'm at Ludwig right now and i cant even get to the Second Phase
Sir alone and Fune Knight high B tier??? Those bosses are sick
Personally Shadow of the Erdtree would rank maybe 5th on this list, it was good but nothing mind blowing.
DS2 fans try not to make themselves look ridiculous challenge impossible difficulty
I prefer the Ringed City to Shadow of The Erdtree, I absolutely adore both, but the latter has some cheap tricks embedded into it
Old hunter dlc will always be the best
Awesome video! Nice list i agree with most of it the only thing i would change is the place of dark souls 1 dlc with the dark souls 2 dlc crown of the old iron king but i agree with your placement as well since the dark souls 2 old iron king dlc is also amazing
1. Ringed city
2. Old hunters
3. Ivory king
4. Oolacile
5. Shulva
6. Brume
7. Ariandel
Bro: casually sl1’s Gravewarden
Me: who beat the final SoTE boss but can’t seam to beat said wolf master ._.
15:59 bruh just in ds1 you have blighttown, demon ruins, new londo, catacombs and tomb of the giants what are you talking about
So, after playing it where would you put shadow of the erdtree? I would put it right behind old hunters.
Behind ringed city it'd number 2 for me
Number 1 for me, It has some issues but Is basically a sequel with a lot of beautiful bossfight and One of the best Legacy dungeon from has ever done.
@@bondrewd5935 for me it was just too quantity over quality
@@mark10291 The quality was still exceptional
@@bondrewd5935 yes, but I would have preferred the quality to be even higher instead of having the vast amount of content
My rank:
1. Old Hunters = Scholar of the First Sin.
2. Artorias of the Abyss.
3. The Ringed City.
All those are great, btw.
18:28 No, we don't. I mean, sure, Micolash, Rom, Witches, Celestials, and One Reborn are hot garbage, but there's also;
Cleric Beast
Gascoigne
Amelia
BSB
Paarl
Shadows of Yharnam
Amygdala
Ebreitas
Logarius
Wet Nurse
Gherman
These are good or great bosses, and they still make up a good majority of the boss roster for the base game.
So I don't understand where this baseless point came from.
Most bosses here are carried by design with shitty mechanics. Wet nurse is unfinished. Only gherman and logarius are truly good
@@Stanzbey69 Just because a boss doesn't fly across the arena with 500 particle effects doesn't mean they're bad. You didn't even give a coherent reason for why they're not good. You almost sound like a child😭. learn what a good boss design is lil bro🙏.
@@INeedBloodborne2 no their mechanics just aren’t engaging.
@@Stanzbey69 you mean they don't juggle in the air while shooting projectiles at you like it's a circus? Sure, lil bro, whatever you say, you probably can't even give good coherent examples of your complaints🤣🙏. (You probably don't even know what engaging is anyway)
@@INeedBloodborne2I was gonna be on ur side but ur clearly just another retarded little fuck who glazes anything Miyazaki. A boss flying everywhere also doesn't mean it's engaging. It's the same with BB bosses for some people. Ur telling u find The One Reborn or Rom "engaging" and "fun"?
Every souls dlc ranked, yes
There's no bad fromsoftware dlc
I didn't even finish The Ringed City too far after the demons fight. It's just annoying, tedious, gimmicky area after annoying, tedious, gimmicky area after annoying, tedious, gimmicky area. I hear Slave Knight Gael is one of the best bosses, but I also hear the middle two bosses are some of the worst so you can't really convince me to give it another chance.
I might be wrong but isnt the whole ash-world including the demon prince boss-fight also part of the Ashes of Ariandel dlc?
No
It’s part of the ringed city
Man, I really wish I enjoyed ds2 like the rest of the people in these comments. I played through once and can’t bring myself to play it again.
DS2 is goated. The hate it gets is stupid.
How would you rank it now that the SOTE is out?
You gonna have to remake this in a few weeks lol
4:02 dude idk. I know it’s a totally different genre but Fallout 3 and New Vegas has $10 dlc expansions and those were fire. Well… most were. I think if a consumer is expected to pay extra for content, said content should be “good” despite the price.
If you’re making me pay for more game, it needs to be as good or better than the base game IMO.
I have not played F3's DLC since I was a kid. But NV DLC was fire.
Why no one is talking about the duplicate sanctuary guardian? Am I missing something?
Sorry, I do not fully understand your comment. Perhaps you didn't know it existed? If that's the case, you can return to that location later in the DLC, and two of them will be in the boss arena. I don't exactly remember when they spawn, but they do, and they're hard. They're very, very hard.
@@CosmicEye597 that is exactly what I am saying. I have finished ds1 multiple times and I just find out this is even a thing.
@@aggelos_skr3083 Well, now you know. They are definitely a challenge.
I wonder where you would rank shadow of the erdetree
1 most likely
It would have to be 1. It’s $40 and it’s worth every penny and then some.
15 days left🙏
how did you manage to survive that friede grab attack? lol
I was shocked when it happened during the fight lol
The cringe of seeing somebody say how annoying the runback of Sir Alonne is while not using the phantoms. "oH bUt ThEn..." no, the phantoms are there for a reason. If you can't identify a tool then you are just bad at the game.
I wish Lotf had dlc..
I'd take old hunters over ringed city any day of the week.
now I haven't played ds2 dlc cause everytime I do play ds2 I get frustrated and want to throw the disc out and set it on fire due to how annoying it is and I haven't played ds1 dlc since I'm dreading the last half but the other 3 I have beaten so although it's more of a top 3 it will change whenever I decide to not become a vampire and thrust a stake into my heart imbedded in garlic
3. ashes of ariandel. decent design with only great thing being sister friede(favorite boss in souls) and the other boss while I don't think is great, I also don't think it's bad
2. lost city. oh boy am I gonna get hate for this one. personally, I hate the area of the city, I'd probably like it more if there weren't dozens of arrows coming my way and angels shooting holy arrows (yes i do know you can kill the angels but its more worth just running). then the area is just bland like an unseasoned steak, but bosses are killer. you got twin princes (my favorite lost city boss), midir, and gael, hot take gael overrated and if halflight didn't have that summon he wouldn't be nearly as hated on as he is (still a meh fight with boring dialogue in the beginning).
1. old hunters. just recently beat this and my god is it wonderful. ludwig easily took me over 100 attempts with me being level 50 with a +7 whirligig and going up the tower, while annoying, was disturbing which is why we all love bloodborne.
Just wrong on your final take lmao.
and what is filled in ringed city? A whole lot of nothing lmao 3 boss fights doesn’t make it better you guys act like they gave such good rewards in that dlc I swear they haven’t played it in years
Wrong
@@Jbswemidir isn’t even good. Anyone who actually knows the fight agrees that he’s very boring
@@Stanzbey69 I agree I never thought midir was that sick just annoying its cool you see him multiple times and the arena is cool but the fight is nothing special
"This DLC [Artorias of the Abyss] gives me a reason to not debate quitting when I have gained the ability to warp."
Personally, the DLC gives me a reason to play the DLC.
I completely disagree with the ds2 dlcs but to each their own.
Ringed City over Old Hunters?? Unsubscibing right now
No one cares ☠️ seriously. Bloodborne is hella overrated
You dont have a playstation, do you? @@Elem3nt-
Showing Lords of the Fallen as a bad example is kinda unfair. Yes the starting class did cost extra, but apart from the necessity to deliver over 30 patches to make it a good game, the delivered the Randomizer mod, new classes, new quests and items and most recently a boss rush mode at absolutely no cost. So everyone how went away from the game, because it was so annoying, go back, you’ll have a totally now experience, then one everybody hoped for
The elden ring dlc wasn't even out and dude put it top 1 crazy glazing
7. Ashes
6. Sunken
5. Abyss
4. Ivory
3. Ringed City
2. Old Hunter
1. Iron King
I hope ashes of ariendel is last place it’s the only one that really qualifies.
@@thatmemeguy2520 you mean Gael is? Who actually likes midir that much i do think demon princes is a better duo boss then anything in Elden ring but there is more to these games then bosses, more then 1/3 of ringed city is swamps and the city streets are very short nothing special. I think messmer is amazing just as good as Gael and bayle is better then midir is most ways the ost is way harder too
@@Jbswe i mean its personal opinion but i think most people ar gonna say erdtree probably becuase it braught in a ton of casuels. And elden ring is probably there 1st souls game tho i do feel like people ar glazing elden ring way to much
@@thatmemeguy2520 elden ring deserves the praise. Dark souls 3 really doesn’t
@@Stanzbey69 dont get me wrong elden ring is a solid game but it has its flaws...
-torrent being painfully slow on the map so imo the game gets pretty boring rather quickly. And open world fatigue
-95% of the bosses genuinely dont feel good to fight. And u dont feel satisfied after beating the bosses
-DLC is a chore to get to pretty much have to get to the end of the game to start it again...
-PVP is not as fun as the older games imo
All imo hurt the longevity of the game and in 1 year time people will probably drop the game due to no more updates. And just return to older games becuase lets be honest open world fatigue is a real thing. No matter how good the map is
The Old Hunters >> Artorias of the Abyss > The Ringed City. Haven't played DS2. The Old Hunters is always gonna be the best DLC oat
Based takes
So when a game like ds2 is actually unforgiving its bad?lol
Shadow of the Erdtree will have the best boss fights in any of these dlc. I would go even farther to say in the entire series. Remember this comment and come back post Shadow of the Erdtree to tell me how right I was about this lol.
I agree, but many will complain about how the bosses have too many delayed attacks, too many combos and barely any openings and then compare them to DS3 bosses 😂😂.
I’m curious if there will be a boss that is better than sword Saint Isshin because right now the only bosses that come close imo are Lady Maria, Gael and Godfrey. I truly hope and believe you will be right
Bloodborne is the best dlc
