That's complete bollox. So the equality that was the Pensions Act 1995 passed women like your wife by did it? I remember it happening in 1995 and was so pleased (after all women had been retiring earlier than men but living longer) that I mentioned it to a 40 year old woman at work and all she did was shrug and say 'well we wanted equality'. So she knew about it. Why didn't your wife know about it? Ignorance of the law is no excuse. And these so-called WASPI women had their legal case thrown out because the courts ruled that the DWP hadn't been negligent. The Government had done what it had always done - passed a law and made the announcement in Parliament. That information was then disseminated to us through the news media. Lots of us knew about it which means that your wife either wasn't listening or forgot about it. Either way it's her responsibility. Now we have a wet leftie in the form of the Parliamentary Ombudsman saying that the DWP was negligent and there should be a vote in the Commons. Why should the opinion of one wet leftie overrule the opinion of the High Court?! The women who didn't have the wherewithal to know what was going on don't deserve penny.
EVERYBODY paid in, including the men who had to work 5 years longer than women. THEY are the ones who have been robbed yet by arguments on here they would have to pay more in taxes to fund this grafting by Waspi's. Disgusting!
Can I just add I have a basic pension of 800 pound a month ,but because I have just above the means tested amount in the bank I get no help at all my 4 years money that was stolen would come in really handy ,and a correction to the amount was 181 billion pounds stollen
Nothing was stolen. Women were finally made equal to men. It is all the men who had to work 5 years longer than women all those years who deserve a payout.
There is a bit of selective amnesia here. In 2019 Labour was promising a £58 million compensation scheme for WASPI women. This was used as a powerful attack point from the Tories because it disrupted Labour's carefully planned budget for their proposed reforms as it required borrowing, and of course the Tories _never_ borrow (cough - tripled the national debt!). The SNP is currently in the similar position of other peripheral parties, who can make whatever promises and claims they like, because they'll _never_ have to bring them to fruition or account for them. Labour, on the other hand are having to make the kind of tough choices that fall to a party that has to take over after 14 years of Tory misrule. I have no doubt that they will do their best to help the WASPI women, as it has been part of their previous policy. However, Starmer is not going to make the same mistake that Corbyn did and commit the party to borrowing, when the 90% Tory-dominated media are circling like hungry vultures, looking for a gap to dive through.
I think Labour in 2019 was trying to buy votes by offering Waspi women the compensation scheme where you would think every woman who is a Waspi member would be encouraged to vote Labour in their favour. However, Labour's confidence in 2024 is so high that they don't need to offer compensation this time round. I'm not confident of any granted compensation offered, they just don't want to pay as will be stated, information of pension entitlement was all in the newspapers, TV & radio, these women did not take note. But if full compensation is given to Waspi women then so should all men who lost out on their pension one year from aged 65 that wasn't paid until aged 66 be compensated as well. Who's wishing on a star ?
Just seen a headline (cant confirm its validity) that Starmer has just ruled out waspi compensation. If true, what a lying bunch of bastards the Labour party are and people thought the tories were bad.
Irrespective of the fact that we were told that we were being robbed, it still does not make it right. I have had £65k taken. I doubt that we will see any money back when they are now planning on snooping in pensioners bank accounts. They have no shame.
No they ain't,they wanted all this equality shit so they got it,don't moan and groan after when it's not going your way, they ain't moaning when they are getting equal pay are they
Its to do with the inadequet notice they were given of the impostion of state pension age change, nothing to do with any real or perceived sense of equality. Learn some facts, and stop making a fool of yourself, with comments based on nothing in particular.
The government owe us thousands in care cost we looked after parents children all for nothing . Well not for nothing because it took its toll on us. We should not have had to beg for this money that we payed it in relied on it .we cannot retire at the same time as out husbands we have little time together after after a lifetime of dedication to work family and community. It wasnt fair as it wasnt implimented fairly somebody born dec 52 and somebody born six months later in June 53 had to wait another 2.5 years longer total loss of 25k
Lost nothing, never had it in the first place. It is all the men who had to work 5 years longer than women all those years who deserve a payout. Where's my money?
Davidsmith irrelevant considering that was your Contract.if youve an ha'peth of understanding the fact is we were told at 15 in Careers office if we worked and paid in we would recieve our pension at 60, its called a Contract our money Robbed by dwp and Politicians comprehende?270.000+ 50' s women have died waiting including my sister who worked hard all her life.many lost homes businesses thier lives your bleating your case is irrelevant to Fact 4vmillion 50's women have been Robbed of 6 years Pensions (inc bus passes) your being jealous of these brave women is pathetic of you
This is not just about robbing women of their pensions, its also tied in with married men going from a married pension on retirement, to a single mans's pension, that, unless the husband has a decent private pension from long employment service ( and ive seen FIVE companies close i have worked for!), we are forced to carry on working until our wives reach 67 instead of 60 !!! EVERY policy us now aimed AGAINST the act of marriage and family!!!
The government are all the same, and the fact they changed the retirement age and we now have to claim ourselves, I was bringing up young children when I was told the age was going up to 62 I didn’t have time to sort a private pension I brought my kids up but was looking forward to me retiring at 60 I then was my husbands carer but tried to get back to work
How come none of these women know about any of this pension age qualifications, don't anyone read newspapers or listen to the radio, I think they are just " trying it on in hope of free money"
I and every other man who had to work 5 years longer will be seething if these grifters get a pay out. Why should we have to work 5 years longer then pay even more in taxes to give compensation to people who have merely been made equal? I can't believe the front of these scroungers!
I note, with irony, that 'WASPI' includes the word 'inequality' ...... but these women weren't apparently unhappy with the former situation when they were able to draw their pension at the age of 60 whereas men had to wait until they were 65 years old. The inequality of that situation didn't provoke them to any action.
@@doreenhollywood7459 Exactly !!! They had to continue until they were 65 years old - unlike women who received their pension at 60. The women weren't complaining about that inequality then. They weren't saying that they should be made to wait until they were 65 - in order to be equal to the men. They didn't want equality with the men - they were getting preferential treatment. Or, putting it another way, they were happy with inequality when it suited them.
Typical male reaction. It wasn't women that set the pension age it was governments. We had no say in the matter but if men wernt happy then they could have complained to the then governments that consisted of mostly men.....another inequality .Most waspii women started working at 15. I started work at 14. We mostly had to take part time work because men deemed us only worthy of looking after children. There wasnt any child minding services that there are today. This government has not only buggered up our pensions but have now also not paid the top up to our NI contributions when caring for families with a " stay at home " payments. All throughout my career I as woman I was discriminated against when doing the same work as men by not being given equal pay. .What this government should have done is taken the women's age up and bought the mens down to an equal age. As it is if the Tories get in power again then none of us will stay alive long enough to draw a pension. I would also like to add that people like my late mother spent 30 Years at my fathers side During his army career and when they got divorced his new wife got the right to his army pension and my mum got nothing ! I had never ever received any notification from the DWP about changes to my pension but my Tory MP told me that I was a liar......that's a bit rich coming from a govern!ent that has done nothing but lie.
@@catch22again I had to pay 11% of my salary into a superannuation scheme whereas women, doing a similar job only paid 5% for the same pension. I had to work fully rotating shifts covering the 24 hours whereas the women only worked between 0800 - 2200. There was lots of inequality in those days but we got on with it and the women weren't complaining.
Fantastic speech thank you so much very well said
My wife is owed approximately £54,000 … all MPs pension should be stopped immediately to pay these ladies who have been robbed 🇬🇧🏴
