- Опубликовано: 22 июн 2024
- In "Uncle Andy Sound FX Man", Taryl goes over how Snapper's being sneaky when they don't even make their own mowers. What's the deal with that? Why is the belt so expensive? He also shows you how to replace it and walks you through the full process. Prior to, and after the repair, local shop pest Uncle Andy wants to help out again. The thing is he usually always makes things worse! See what happens when Taryl gives him simple tasks and he can't even pull those off in another hilariously informative how-to video from your favorite Grass Rats! And as always... There's Your Dinner!!

A painters scraper is the same thing 😋
@@shangrilaladeda Except it's not!
@@TarylFixesAll okay, I use a power washer to keep my Honda hrx 217 2018 electric start clean
Yes, do the AWD video for putting the belt on. Thank you for such a great show, Taryl!
swap out all the pullies while your there
I told my wife she needed to watch. She said not until he takes that silly disguise off. Then she added I'm not going to watch somebody repair lawn mowers. If our lawn mower breaks I'm not going to fix it you are she told me. 😂
"Wow. That bike runs pretty good" That made me LOL. Out loud.
Well, remember "The Mouse and the Motorcycle"? The better you make the noise, the better it runs!
Good morning Taryl and gang!
You da man. Yes, please do the Husky AWD too. I’d love to see how they operate. Love your videos ! Thanks for the dinner
Yep, let's see the Husky. Great skit👍
I never saw the guts of a 4 wheels drive. That could be, an interesting video.
Man, the flashes of Elkskins face getting closer and closer yelling “Fire it up! Fire it up!” absolutely kill me 😂😂 It’s like being inside Taryl’s head and hearing the voices that haunt him! I think showing folks how to do a Husqvarna AWD belt (and the stupid idler pulleys) would be a great idea. Talk about a drive design that gets full of clippings and debris, they almost need to be cleaned out after every use if you’re not using the bag!
When he was slicing that paper all I could think of was Carl from sling blade 🤣🤣🤣
Taryl, whacha gonna do with that blade?
I just bought the grass buster scraper from you during the Father's Day sale. My Cub Cadet 50" deck was plugged really bad from mowing wet grass. Had no choice but to mow it because it was getting really deep. That scraper is, by far, the best scraper I've ever used on a mower deck. I highly recommend it to everyone.
I never came across a 4 wheel drive push mower so a video would be great .
They are not as great as they sound like they could be
Back in the 1980’s my grandparents had a lawn service business. They used all Snapper equipment, it was quality back then.
Love the motor cycle part!!!
That's a Snapper in name only.
The dreaded SINO!
@@ITOLDUDA I call em the walnapper, that's where you buy em, wal-mart.
I sold mowers for Lowe's in 1988 and then I thought MTD had the best, most logically made lawn tractors. The biggest problem I had was shoulder bolts falling off, and those had to be ordered and they didn't charge the batteries, and would go dead on customers.
Breaks & Scrap ‘em bought Snapper several years ago.
Uncle Andy needs direct supervision!🤣
I want see video on AYP mower, thanks for all your good advice in your videos
Bike scene was epic!
Awesome video God Bless you and your family Amen
Oh how far Snapper has fallen since the days of my Wisconsin 2 stroke 6 speed unit, unstoppable!
Classic Taryl video! 👍👍
yes, yes, please do the video!
Nice to see him enjoying his retirement 😁
I have heard a lot of stupid stuff on sharpening blades. My brother in law, said that your not suppose to sharpen them to a sharp edge. He said you're suppose to have a blunt edge so the edge doesn't fold over when you hit a stick. I sharpen them to a sharp edge and the cut way better than he's blunt edge. Love all your video's!!!!
Dull edges will cost you more money in fuel and will make the top of the grass appear sort of white and dead looking so I’m with you, keep em sharp.
Yeah-but, if they're razor sharp, the blades dull in very short order, so that means you're sharpening your blade A LOT. No lawnmower blade is blunt, like the side of a 2x4, they all have a bevel and that's really all you need. The only mower type that really "cuts" the grass and needs to be razor sharp are the reel type as they do indeed scissor-cut the grass. Rotary lawn mowers are glorified weed wackers.
If it's "too" sharp anything you hit, twigs, stones, plastic Army men, can chip the blade, which is never a good thing. So, sharp but not like a knife.
That Yamaha at the end was my childhood dream in the 70's
I have a Toro self propelled (Red one), it was given to me. I like it because it’s easy start. Like this educational video 👍👍. Keep’m coming.
Update: ((optional add on) Toro part number 144-6377 traction assist handle kit) does fit all new Toro mowers that have the new baby carriage curved shape.
IMO you could make your own Toro's BTAH (Black Traction Assist Handle) from 2 pieces of wood in ((L) shape) and some bolts and washers.
Toro's BTAH converts Toro's PPM (Personal Pace Mowers) (which requires a person to push Toro's heavy mower forward before the self-propelled drive kicks in) to ((easily without effort) controlling Toro's self-propelled drive with just your fingers and hands without moving forward).
This is needed on steep hills where you need the Toro mower to pull you and this powerful mower up the hill without any effort on your part.
The powerful Toro mower can do this only with BTAH and not by Toro's PPM (extra exercise mode).
Without BTAH you end up pushing this heavy Toro mower up the hill.
Thank you for your help and understanding on this Toro (back breaking) mower issue.
Another informative and amusing tale
Well done video start to finish
Hey Taryl! Yes, replace the belt on the HuskyVarmit!
To clarify, (first i am a dealer for over 20 brands of equipment) Husqvarna does not own AYP, AYP is the thing of the past, Husqvarna since 2006 is Husqvarna Outdoor Products (HOP) the factories that made Sears Craftsman, Poulan & Husqvarma have changed names many of times over the years but as of 2006 it's Husqvarna Outdoor Products, started out as Roper, then American Yard Products, then Frigidaire Home Products, Electrolux Home Products and then in 2006 to what it is now due to a spin off, Husqvarna Outdoor Products, also parts are MUCH cheaper is you go through a local dealer or repair shop (you don't pay shipping!) and always support local businesses, i own a shop and my prices are 40-50% less the cost of online places.
Agreed, there has been a lot of flip flop buy outs, I got a call at my shop from the Generac Corp wanting to send me a customer with a dead DR mower to get Briggs and Stratton warranty work,a real mis mash of names on one machine
With John Deere I have found that the local dealer can use JD’s parts lookup to find discontinued or out of stock parts at other dealers nationwide. My local dealer’s parts department doesn’t want to get involved in the actual purchase and shipping but I have found that when I call an out of state dealer they are willing to pack up and ship the part to me. I have definitely found Taryl’s advice about using independent parts warehouses valuable in cases where JD will only sell subassemblies or kits (example: gasket kit for a Kawasaki motor) while you can but the individual gaskets in Kawa factory bags online.
I’m a lawn tractor collector who does his own repairs/restorations. I’d guess that the average person just brings a riding tractor or zero turn in and just says “fix it”. I doubt that any of them ever heard of Taryl or Donyboy or Chickanic anyway.
@@bobjohnston8316 Yea i still have the old Micro fish cards for Briggs and Stratton for pre 2005, used to have Kawasaki, Kohler on Micro Fish, lots of old information there
4 wheel drive would be fun to repair!🎉🎉🎉🎉
It's a shame what Briggs did to Snapper. They were a very good mower, now they are junk. We were a Snapper dealer from 1978 to 2002. I have a good V series aluminum deck and Looking through our NOS Snapper parts. I'm pretty sure I can build me a new Snapper. Going to try it next winter.
Must be why are snapper dealer finally went out of business after being in business a very long time
Very true. Their rear engine riders were beasts.
@@terrywitt5543 A few things happened. First Snapper priced themselves out of business. Their rear engine riders were a good $4-500 higher than the competition for the same size mower. I still have a NOS Snapper 1994 snowblower. In 94 it sold for $1100 when MTD was around $600. Second Snapper started requiring all dealers to buy two mowers of the same model at a time. Third, Snapper had different levels of dealers. bronze, Silver, and Gold. We were a Bronze dealer meaning we had to pay shipping on mowers and parts where the Gold dealers had everything freight free.
My gravely dealer in warren pa is a former snapper dealer still has nos walking mowers and 30 inch riders still in stock
Have a couple of those myself and 1 self-propelled! Those were/still are great mowers!
opens with good comedy and ends with good job and more comedy...
I worked on small engine equipment for 30plus years on the side. Not a certified mechanic like you Taryl, but I know exactly what you are saying. Deceiving exactly. Been that way for years now. But really bad now. Have a good one Taryl!
The old snappers with the friction wheel drive were the best . everything was right there in plain sight to repair ' sometimes you just had to lube the shaft to make it slide good lol
Don't forget to add shipping to the cost of parts!
One place may be higher price for the part but offer free shipping and be cheaper in the long run.
Thank you sir for important information.
Yes please on the huskavanna!!!!
What I want to know is when do I get my grass rats garage small engine repair degree I think I watched long enough to deserve one😂😅🤣❤ thanks guys love the show
I have almost the same exact mower but with a 190cc flat head briggs. It says Snapper but I believe it's made by MTD. I freakin love it. It was manufactured in 2012 and I bought it in 2013. It's truly the best mower I've ever had. I love the mower so much I bought a replacement deck for it. The original deck is starting to deteriorate. Its already been welded once but its still solid for now. When it's done I'll swap the deck out with the new one.
Definitely would like to see 4WD Mower service please.
Thank you for sharing👍
yeah, do a video on the Husky all wheel drive. 😁
Taryl, my man! As soon as you said, that “Snapper” was not really a Snapper, I looked at the mower closely and I have run into this before. That baby is an MTD. I’m not knocking MTD. I used to dislike them to a point but now I find that they are easy to work on and they are homeowner brands so they’re not made to last forever without breaking down.
Good informative video as usual Taryl no games and old school
Its not suprising anymore the stuff they are assembling to keep purchase cost down, and the big companies are selling more whole goods cause home owners are getting flustered trying to get this stuff fixed, thumbs up, great video
Love your stuff!
Could you please do a video on how to replace a belt on a husky 4 wheel drive lawn more.
Thanks
You are the man Taryl! From Sophia, N.C.
Y of course. Thanks for your knowledge.
Taryl, love your new shop! Congratulations!
I would like to see you make a video on the alwheeldrive mower
Similar problems with the blade stop on my Toro. Fortunately, it was just packed with grass, cleaned it up, and there's your dinner. Great video, thanks
Let’s see it my dude 🤙🏻😎
Yes we want to see it😂
Awesome job Terrell keep sending more videos 🤘
HAave exact same mower. Just purchaased thiis yera. Thanks you for another gret video!
When I eat dinner there comes a time a couple hours later that you have to use the restroom. When I finish I tell my toilet "there's your dinner" Thanks guys.
Made my Sunday Taryl now on with the week
Nice job grass rat 👍
Thanks Taryl. I have a 2016 TroyBilt/MTD that looks the same. I couldn't figure out how to remove the drive cover after I mowed today. I haven't cleaned under the cover since I bought it.
After cleaning out old grass or before using a brand new machine, spray the underside of the deck with two coats of rubberized undercoating. Cheap insurance to seeing 10 years beyond the 15years approximately for a lawn mowers life. Moist damp grass is acidic and will cause the deck steel to start to rot. This tip is worth couple Taryl stickers 😊🇨🇦
At the shop I used to work at, we decided that MTD stood for "More Trash for the Dumpster"...
Major Turd Design….
I dont have a self propelled mower, but i found this video interesting and informative. Also, thats a cool idea of putting a metal plate on a forklift so you can have an adjustable work surface. I bet its a good back saver.
Hi,
In my shop, for that procedure, with the mower on the lift, I rotate the handle down to the ground. That exposes the underside of the deck without any fluid leaks.
Ya paid for Snapper.. ya got Sardines ... Arrr Matey!
Mudfish!
I have and use one of those antique craftsman blower/leaf vacuum. It gets heavy after a while without the shoulder strap. Love the videos and the skits. Keep em coming.
Love from valpo skate park!!
I've never balanced my mower blades. I guess I will do that next time I sharpen them.
Thanks for the info awesome!
I saw this exact mower for sale at a pawn store yesterday, they wanted $199 for it!
Show us the AWD HuskieMerna!
GREAT VLOG, DOG!!!
Uncle Andy has a talent that is widely used by the media these days!
Yes please on the husky belt.
I had a Craftsman with a nearly identical drive setup. In over 20 years it never lost a belt. I had to re-power it once, but the drive was never touched, year after year.
Yes. A Husky AWD belt replacement would be nice.
Another great skit :D
I own a Kubota 21" self propelled mower which is (probably) at least 20 years old.
It uses a shaft drive and it and the gear box etc are fully serviceable and those as well as the Kohler engine and the heavy steel deck are absolutely bullet proof.
They most certainly do not make them like they used to..👍
3/8x34 belt according to the old googler . $8.99 tractor supply .
Good stuff…👍👍
Yes pleeeease make a video from the husqvarna ! I got a "Klipper", an interesting swedish lawnmower with the Briggs an Scrap'em mechanical autostart !
Hi Taryl, awesome videos. I think i have watched almost all of them, but i just did the same exact repair on a troy bilt, and I noticed the one you did was missing the axle clips to hold it secure in the plastic mounting assembly. this may be the reason the belt came off. people bang the mower up and down sometimes to get grass out from under the mower and this probably breaks the clips off and the axle gets loose, and the belt comes off. just thought you might like to know.
If Harbor Freight got into the mower business they would smoke these other mower companies. They already have the motors.
Try to get a vertical shaft 3-5HP engine to replace yours
Yes, please do the video on the Huszvarna longer drive belt.
Thanks
Yes, please do a video on the Husqvarna AWD belt.
Sure put the belt on and here’s your dinner always wondered how those things works enjoy your channel
I want to see the four-wheel video. Please sir!
Like your diy fix content Taryl , we have to understand one thing about name brands , their here to protect their marketed name with quality , once that’s sold watch out .
Love to see you work on the Husqvarna.
i still love my old craftsman garden tractor not a lawn tractor it has bolts that hold wheels on 22 horse briggs made in early 2001 its been a beast 43 inch deck had to replace electric cluth once and belts a few times but it still runs like a new car craftsman motor only funky thing with mine is to replace drive belt uou have to twist it or it wont work i think taryl talked about it in another video that drove me crazy one day!4 hours to figure it out lol
YES!! Uncle Andy.
Yes lets see the belt on the 4WD mower, Thanks!
Have an idea which everybody needs , Taryls merch monopoly on grass , Grass mats for the front door of your household . All grassrats need the home clean of clippings .
Yes I wanna see a video on the husky varna belt 😊
I'd like to see a video on that wheel horse you had in the background a couple weeks ago
Nice job Taryl🎉🎉🎉😊
Those mowers don’t deserve the Snapper name on them!!!
Snapper used to make a nice little push mower before Briggs shut down the McDonough Georgia Plant. They had white painted Briggs engines and the Snapper name pressed into the metal of the deck. Great little mowers. They even sold them in Wally World. That Briggs EXI engine doesn't have any serial number or date codes on them. They are Chongqing China made engines and have all plastic carburetters on them.
Another great and funny video Timster , I always learn something about mowers . I'm glad I subscribed a long time ago . Thank you for what you do .
You can use a zip tie to hold handles together if you don't have a clamp.
Do vid on Husk. Thanks dude great info
Andy is like the sound effects cadet on Police Academy. Hope the belt just fell off on my warshing machine. I get grief from my coworkers about that! Always learn something here! Front wheel drive no less! Always look forward to it!
Troybilt uses the same design. They sell it as 'variable speed' and that little thumbwheel is how you adjust the speed.
Poulan AWD mowers have the THE most stupid drive design: TWO gear boxes, 63 inch belt and THREE idlers. The drive is engaged by pulling the belt tight. Grass builds up massively under the cover. The idlers lock up. The control cable stretches and won't engage the drive. (I tied it in a knot to get more tension). The Kohler engine has a tiny air filter.
