Thanks for this video. It gave great closure to a new keychron customer. I went with Keychron V2 which barely has any buttons. All of the F1 F10 buttons are left out. So i needed disclosure on how to utilize such a keyboard with this form factor. Turns out i can just use the mac mode to swap the numbers with the F-keys ( i think ? )

I just received my Q1 Feb 4 and remapped my keys too. I changed the media functions to second layer and FN to first layer. Also trying to figure how to play in terminal & change settings that way for QMK

It is possible to completely remap "FN2" key in K7 to be CTRL_R with custom firmware or software? (I don't need FN2 functionality at all - meaning media keys).
Thanks for these tips -- I have the exact same Q1 as you (shell white) on my Mac, and in addition to the ins/del swap that you just did, there are 2 other mods I'd like to make. First, since I'm not a gamer, I literally never use the backlight functionality -- but I am also annoyed that there's no indicator on the Q1 when the Caps lock is on, so I thought it would be nice if hitting caps lock could also toggle the backlight for the caps lock key (or if a single key light can't be addressed, then turning the while keyboard lighting on/off). The other thing would be to mimic my other 75% keyboard, the matias tactile pro mini, and have it so fn+pgup works the same as "home", and fn+pgdn is equivalent to "go to end of the line". Any suggestions on how to accomplish these settings?
I just saw a youtube video where a woman showed how to use the VIA software to make it so when caps lock is on all the LEDs were red.

Were you able to find a fix for the f3 and f4 not working? I got my Q1 and noticed it wasn't working anymore after trying to remap the printscreen to where insert is.
Were you able to make it work? To me it looks like you need to keep in mind if you're changing the windows or mac settings in the layers. F3 and F4 seem to be the only default ones on the macs first layer (0) but all the F-keys are active when you hold down the Fn-key. Hope that helped.
Why would you go through such a pain, if the Q1 is optimized for VIA with which you can remap your keys in real-time!?
I was trying it on via but sadly it was not detecting any keyboard tho it states it’s compatible with the q1
@@saladtoking it works. I had the same problem, then I figured it out. Just follow the official guide. It can be googled by "How To Use VIA To Pair With Keychron Q Series Keyboard". The tricky part for me was the Step 3. ENABLE "Use V2 definitions (deprecated)" or DISABLE "Use V3 definitions (via/next)". So I had to pay more attention to the interface of the VIA and in my case I had to ENABLE V2 definitions.

Hello, I recently gotten my first Custom Keyboard (Q6) and it supports QMK/VIA. I want to get into configurating my Keyboard to change some inputs&set macro's.
Which of the two should I get; VIA or QMK?
VIA sounded more user friendly when I read on it's uses since it applies changes instantly, but I don't know which of the two is the superior one.
Or is VIA an extension for QMK?
VIA is without a doubt WAY more user-friendly than QMK -- or at least, the QMK shown in this video. With VIA, you don't have to finagle with downloading flashing software, generating a separate keymap file, or pulling the space bar off to hit the reset button. Not sure what you mean exactly when you ask which one is the superior one. There might be a chance that you can do more advanced customization with QMK, but there's already so much you can do with VIA with layers, macros, etc. with so much less hassle, I'd say 99% of people would be perfectly happy with VIA :)
Hallo zyram, i have the exact same issue. I am not able to use the 22 effects listed in via, only 13. I dont know what to do, do u?

There is another method to put the keyboard in DFU mode.
Unplug the usb cable from the keyboard.
Press and hold Esc key and plug-in the cable. That is all~~~~

My VIA doesnt work after flashing in QMK Toolbox, somebody help!
Here's a quick tutorial to get VIA on your keyboard. VIA is a separate program but is based on QMK

I hope you already found the solution. But I had the same problem. It was solved as soon as I uninstalled VIA and installed the newest version (today version 2.0.5). But I still need to import the .json file.
