Dear, the video is very good, I would like to know if you are using a virtual machine (for example VM Ware), does it work normally or do I need to configure it again within the virtual machine?
What a great video. Thank you. I am still learning, and I have a 60% board. I would like to have my backspace be the delete key when I hold down shift. For example: Shift + backspace = Del. Would you be able to help me how to do this with VIA? Thank you in advance.
the easier way is to use layer. say on layer 1 (default layer is layer 0), set the backspace key location as delete. then set another key whose hold has the effect of turning on layer 1 (you can use LT1). take a look at my keyboard setting videos for examples
idk how keychron works. I guess they must have some software interface that allow you to config the key maps. For example, with config.qmk.fm/ mod/tap is under quantum. It's a basic feature that would be supported for sure with qmk firmware
Is it possible to have a function similar to numlock using via? Like if I’m using 65% keyboard, can I layer certain parts of the keyboard to become the ‘numpad’?
@@mentalflow Interesting. I’m not really familiar with layer, macro etc yet. I’m thinking of getting a 65% keyboard and use that kind of setup as I prefer numpad to key in the numbers.
u should use layers to get the benefit of smaller keyboards; if u like those 3x3 numpad like layout for number keys, you can define it on a layer, and trigger that layer either by holding a key (more common) or pressing a key (not many ppl do this since holding is easier) @@azku
Thanks for sharing, the information in this video was awesome!
thanks for helping me customerise my keyboard :)
perfect - thank you so much - have learned a lot in this 8 minutes - cool
Thank you so much, now you can not waste macros on Alt + P Alt + I combinations (I have custom keys attached to them in ZBrush)
Very helpful tips! What a cute keyboard! Did you build yourself from aliexpress parts? I've been wanting to do the same but it's quite pricey
I bought the assembled one. Already sold since I prefer minivan

I installed them on Mac book directly
Thank you for this presentation. I wonder if it's practical to use letters to switch layers (after some timeout).
It's all personal preference; some ppl do that, one common pattern is to put them at the home row, see precondition.github.io/home-row-mods

@@mentalflow Thank you
yeah but the question is how i program the mod-tap-function? :D
It’s supported out of box, check the keys under the quantum tab
@@mentalflow haha not really. It is, but you described it wrong. I figured it out and codes my own script for my keyboard.
how can I change capslock to have hold to switch to a layer?
Mod tap. What keyboard do you have? Does it have vial or qmk firmware on it?
I’m using keychron k12 pro.

it seems there is a software to edit the key mappings
It’s using via too. I just found that LT() is a good way to accomplish that.

There are many ways to do that. For example, assign numbers to a layer and assign a key to turn on that layer

@@mentalflow Thanks. We’ll look into that once I get my 65
