    Very nice vlog! A work around could be using the intervalometer. You could set 1 minute between shots, 3-4 shots, wouldn’t be so short of breath then.

      Duh!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️That didn't even float into my mind! So thank you ! When I was driving home I thought I should have tried to contact the Nikon SnapBridge app with my camera, which I have used as a self-portraits in the past. It might have been just outside of range! Next time....next time. 😀📸

    Have you considered downloading the app for your camera and using that to control taking your shots? Easiest way for a single person to get photos of themselves from a distance, to include changing the focus if necessary. Just a thought.

      I was driving home after my hike when I had my "duh" moment that I could have tried to connect the Nikon SnapBridge app on my phone with my camera. Not sure if it would have been too far away. Thankfully, this waterfall isn't too far away, so I can easily head back out to retake the photo, either connecting via my phone or using the interval timer feature built-in to my Nikon Z6. So, there will be a next time! 😀📸

    Hi Acacia,
    I liked the shot of the falls that strongly picks out the strange vertical striping on the rock - it is such an unusual feature and you captured it well. As for the Peak Design Capture Clip, have you considered placing the camera in the clip with the lens pointing out to your left, instead of vertically down? It might allow better access to your phone pouch. Thanks for producing this video - I enjoyed my hike with you.

    • @AcaciaFikeNelson
      @AcaciaFikeNelson  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I loved the uniqueness of the rocks too. I haven't tried attaching the camera where the lens is pointing sideways. I feel like it might annoy my arm, but I won't know unless I try, right?! Have a fantastic day! 📸🥾

    I have seen Mads Peter Iverson take similar self portraits from a distance. I believe he sets his camera up to do a time lapse sequence with 10 seconds between shots. Several shots will be taken of course, but more likely to get something you are happy with. I do admire your attempt to get the shot in one go though. 👍🏼

    • @AcaciaFikeNelson
      @AcaciaFikeNelson  5 месяцев назад

      Nice! Yeah, It didn't even occur to me at the time to set up interval shots....might have saved myself a sprint. It also occurred to me when I was driving home that I could have also tried to connect the Nikon SnapBridge app on my phone with my camera and done a self-portrait that way, though not sure if it was too far. There's always next time and maybe with more leaves on the trees! 😀📸

    You wore me out watching you sprint!
    Suggestion: if you camera has the feature, use intervalometer and have it take a series of shots to cover the time you need to make it up there and a few options once you make it to the bench :)

    • @AcaciaFikeNelson
      @AcaciaFikeNelson  5 месяцев назад +1

      It wasn't until I posted this video that I realized I could have used the feature! And yes, my Nikon Z6 does have an interval timer built in. As I was driving home, I realized I could have also tried to connect the Nikon SnapBridge app on my phone to my camera as well. Thankfully, there is always next time and this waterfall isn't too far from my house! 😀📸

    I've been wanting to buy a men's Shimoda pack for a while. Your video talked me into it. I'm ordering one as soon as I finish this post!
    A suggestion for your pepper spray - stick a piece of velcro on the spray, and another on your strap. That should keep it from swinging around.
    PS - I always look forward to your videos!!

      There are several different things I could have done. Continuous shooting, connecting to my Nikon SnapBridge app (which I thought of as I was driving home), or using the interval timing feature that's built into the Z6. All those options escaped me when I was there...probably because of pure stubbornness that I could make it! Thankfully, this waterfall isn't too far from my house, so I can go back and get the shot! 📸😀
