    THE BALLOONS. BALLOONS. NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. Thank you so much. Taking off a Volvo V70 MY06 grill is such a pain in the ass. Now I can plasti dip my grill without removing it.

    Big improvement. I think I would spray my car just to peel it off. But I am weird.

    I know im very late with this question but can you drive your car right after you spray the grill?

    • @DoingWhatever
      @DoingWhatever  7 месяцев назад +1

      I’d probably wait the recommended dry time on the spray can you’re using

      Sorry for the late response!
      The plasti dip was black, shouldn't be too hard to find. I found it at a local home improvement store.
      lol I didn't realize at the time that the grills just snapped off, otherwise I would have gone that route.
      Thanks for watching!

    Does going through car wash effect the dip from pealing?

    • @DoingWhatever
      @DoingWhatever  4 года назад +2

      I didn't have a problem with it going through car washes - it never pealed off.
      Thanks for watching!

    How long did/does it last on your car? Does it still look well after a while?

    • @DoingWhatever

      I drove this car for about another 2 years after this video - in Wisconsin winters - and the stuff held up very well. I did a lot of highway driving so there were some stone chips eventually but nothing unusual. I was definitely impressed with how well the Plasti Dip held up!

      Honestly, I didn't know they just popped off otherwise I would've done that. Next time lol

      each grill has about 7 clips that you just need to push the central part in and pull towards the outside at the same time in order to unclip, it's very easy, so I have the same model, and I wanted a glossy finish to the grills, so started by plastidpping them, and then a couple days later, I painted over the plastidip using high gloss finish spray paint, the outcome is pretty satisfactory indeed

    I brought plastidip from Wal-Mart & it sprayed real clumpy it just ran down the side of my car when I was doing the chrome trim of my windows...
    I just took it back...

      That's unfortunate to hear... I wonder if it was just a bad can? I've used about 5 cans of plastidip on various projects and it sprayed out well each time. Temperature may also cause problems if it's too cold out.

      I wonder if it was a bad can? Otherwise, I noticed that the outside temp. really affects the spray quality... was spraying some accent pieces of a friends truck in 50 degree weather and it turned out pretty textured. had to peel it off and spray again on a warmer day.

    Here's what I did.
    Remove grills
    Wet sand grill using 400 then 800 grit
    Use grease remover
    Spray 2 x coats of primer
    Spray 3 x coats of paint
    Spray 2 x coats of clear coat.
    Sorted.
