THE BALLOONS. BALLOONS. NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. Thank you so much. Taking off a Volvo V70 MY06 grill is such a pain in the ass. Now I can plasti dip my grill without removing it.
Sorry for the late response! The plasti dip was black, shouldn't be too hard to find. I found it at a local home improvement store. lol I didn't realize at the time that the grills just snapped off, otherwise I would have gone that route. Thanks for watching!
I drove this car for about another 2 years after this video - in Wisconsin winters - and the stuff held up very well. I did a lot of highway driving so there were some stone chips eventually but nothing unusual. I was definitely impressed with how well the Plasti Dip held up!
each grill has about 7 clips that you just need to push the central part in and pull towards the outside at the same time in order to unclip, it's very easy, so I have the same model, and I wanted a glossy finish to the grills, so started by plastidpping them, and then a couple days later, I painted over the plastidip using high gloss finish spray paint, the outcome is pretty satisfactory indeed
I brought plastidip from Wal-Mart & it sprayed real clumpy it just ran down the side of my car when I was doing the chrome trim of my windows... I just took it back...
That's unfortunate to hear... I wonder if it was just a bad can? I've used about 5 cans of plastidip on various projects and it sprayed out well each time. Temperature may also cause problems if it's too cold out.
I wonder if it was a bad can? Otherwise, I noticed that the outside temp. really affects the spray quality... was spraying some accent pieces of a friends truck in 50 degree weather and it turned out pretty textured. had to peel it off and spray again on a warmer day.
Here's what I did. Remove grills Wet sand grill using 400 then 800 grit Use grease remover Spray 2 x coats of primer Spray 3 x coats of paint Spray 2 x coats of clear coat. Sorted.

Nothing weird about that! Lol
Those balloons wow
😁
I know im very late with this question but can you drive your car right after you spray the grill?
I’d probably wait the recommended dry time on the spray can you’re using
What colour was Plastic dip? Was it black or smoke? I can't find black one? Also mate, it wasn't better if you take off the grills?Tha ks

Does going through car wash effect the dip from pealing?
I didn't have a problem with it going through car washes - it never pealed off.
Thanks for watching!
How long did/does it last on your car? Does it still look well after a while?

@@DoingWhatever Awesome, thanks! Definitely gonna give it a try then :-)
Just the best way to black the grille..id rather have it gloss though...
Definitely a personal preference but totally agree - best way to black out the grill! Cheers!
Maan is it really difficult to take the whole grill off the car and work on it ?

Awesome! I also made a video on how to plasti dip, do you mind checking it out? Thanks!
Thanks!
Will do!
Stop plasti dipping bmw grills! They sell them on amazon and ebay for 40$ a pair, it looks 100 times better and legit
To each their own, I guess..
Why? You selling a pair?
