Last year, the Orioles had veterans like Kyle Gibson, Adam Frazier, and Aaron Hicks to provide leadership to the young players. Those three are gone, but their leadership was not replaced. This current young team now needs some wily veterans to get in their faces and kick their butts.
Honestly I think this is the best take on this situation. Leadership comes in different forms and styles and there’s no one right way. The Os are loaded with guys who lead by example, and they’re all (it seems) genuinely awesome guys, but from Ced to Mounty to Austin 😢 and O’Hearn and even Corbin Burnes they all seem to be the quiet stoic type and I think you’re exactly right that we sorely, SORELY miss those three guys. The only bright side is that if we get through this (and I think it’s “if” now, not “when”) they’ll be so much better for the experience .
Norby struck out 3 time Sun but I think he's a very good defender at 2nd. Haven't seen him in the outfield but it's good to know that if he's needed in a pinch he can do better in a corner outfield spot than Kjerstadt. We're not melting down and Gunner is not overstepping his bounds. He knows what the other fielders are up to so he's over there trying to mitigate the fndamage that they doin. How many times do you let a ball go under your glove or have it pop out the pocket? When we start off that way I makes me want to turn the game off. And the expect people to buy tickets for that.
This team has turned We not only need pitching we need a bat Just like aaron judge in our lineup. We strike out more.We make more errors And manager hide is just killing our Bullpen. The last three weeks We played teams under five hundred that we should have beat easily But instead they crushed us.
In the last days I have been realized that Gunnar and Adley look very stressed when is their turn to hit. They have to recover confidence. They are very talented players but I see them very frustrated in these last days. I don't know it is an enough time left to get a splash. I see very difficult to get Skubal. However I can see a type 3 SP coming like Flaherty (don't hate me, please) or Fedde. A closer is urgently needed. Now Mason Miller is injured but for 15 days to recover and the injury is in his left hand. What do you think about get Miller no matter if it is injured? Carlos Estevez is a Philly now! Unless we go to Rangers and get Kirby Yates. Garret Crochet to the O's? No longer! We have a serious problem: WE DON't HAVE A LEGIT CLOSER!
It will be fine.. All of the lower ranked teams are overextending right now as they try to see if they are buyers or sellers. It should be an easier final stretch for the Os
They aren't fine at all. They can't score unless they hit home runs, every game they are losing by the 3rd inning and who do you trust to close out games. This team isn't fine. They are playing bad for a while now
Yeah bring the young kids up to save the day, that’ll work out great. “Hey kids, I know all our all-stars are struggling but we think you guys will do great! No pressure or anything, just save our season.” 🙄

Awesome post. It is hard to win with all young players. Frazier and Hicks played huge roles and Gibson was an innings eater who led the team in wins
