Partially shot in my home town at my college, Union College. My uncle played trombone in the scene with the big band. All the best musicians in the region got the call to appear and play in the orchestra. It was quite a big deal and still is when we come across the movie reruns on TCM and see him playing. These men were all in their late forties and fifties for the most parts, WWII vets and Big Band players of the highest stripe. Hats off to The Greatest Generation. It was an amazing honor knowing them and being raised by them.
A timeless classic of loves lost, renewed, then lost again - times forever kept alive in the hearts of those holding the memories of times gone, yet never lost. Loves lost are always kept alive by those who remember them..........
Well, I was 30 and I just turned 80 in 2023. I bought the movie and when I'm bored I watch this wonderful movie. Robert Redford is my favorite actor of all time. Barbra is my favorite singer😍
This film for me is Stupendous, Both Barbara and Robert Redford, wetr so incredible in this film, I so understood Katie's charter wanted to be part of the A group, but was still going to her true self, she wanted Hubbell, so very much, he was her way into the A group , when he first takes her to meet his first group of friends she can see she tries so desperately fit in with his crowd, but she feels that even though she has grown and changed that Hubble friends will never see her as one of them, I have felt way my whole life, and Think anyone who ever felt as they did not fit into the A group will understand the Beauty of this Magical Film.
I like this film a lot, but it has such a sad, melancholy mood and tone to it that I find it hard to watch without feeling very sad, especially this opening sequence. Maybe it's the nostalgia of a time passed when things seemed better. It's hard to describe. My Mom loved Redford, and when I see this or hear the title song, I think of her. She passed in 2018. Miss her everyday.
I was unwell and didn’t do home alone and couldn’t do my family New Years -then my beautiful mum suggested me to watch this this movie.. great taste thank you mum xx
Sets were so great on this films, as were the camera shots, costumes, story line, casting, eveything works in this film - almost perfectly. Not much "action" in the film, but it's still one of the greatest films I've ever seen. I've seen this film 100 times, but I never tire of it -because the movie just touches at so many levels.
It's a nice movie. I'm not big on romance films but this one struck a chord. It scratches below the surface and conveys well the complexities of relationships and everyone can relate to a time when they really liked someone but at the same time they seemed to different or inaccessible for it to develop into romance.
Two people from different social/economic backgrounds. They both admired and loved each other. Hard to make it last when one has an easy flow and enjoys life with one who wants to change the world, has strong political views and goes thru life like a freight train. The relationship ran its course but she was a force to be reckoned with for her ideals and left a lasting impact on him.
Katie played by Barbra Streisand's obviously liberal and Hubbel played by Robert Redford's conservative. What I'd currently give to have his sane brand of conservatism back in America, even if his character is somewhat snobbish. He's still his own person. So's Katie. I love that about them. The one now, and I definitely don't mean from ALL conservatives just SOME in our country scare and hurt me sometimes. I'll still always be nothing ever but totally godly strong, positively uplifting, good, decent, and sane myself, though. That definitely won't ever remotely change from me. Seriously, oh yeah. I'll still truly always ultimately be for all of us liberals, conservatives, and independents getting along through God and Jesus, instead of fighting and hating each other.
I was in our detached studio, watching TWWW. My wife walked in, “ Oh, my God, you’re watching The Way We We’re, and nobody’s making you? What self respecting man would do that? I thought for a few seconds. My Dad would, he owns this. She shook her head, “ That’s for the babes xxxx, that’s for the babes. She left, and I went on watching it.
Great movie but unfortunate how they cut scenes near the end that would have clarified the real reason for their divorce and separation - and how he would have no relationship with his daughter. By todays standards that seems almost incredibly cruel and heartbreaking, not to mention unreasonable. One wonders what explanation would be given to the daughter and at what age and that whether as an adult she would connect with her father.
Such a moving love story - with Streisand and Redford in their sizzling prime, WOWZER! Could someone PULEEZE upload the whole movie to RUclips??? I'll love you forever! XXX

Isn’t that “Let There Be Love” in the background in the dance club? Barbra Streisand was a server in a Chinese restaurant before she got her real job, so as a fellow (former) waiter, I always enjoyed watching her as a waitress.
