- Absolute Daytripper, the Absolute Edition from DC of Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon's modern classic of comics, is a gorgeous volume, befitting the beloved story. In this video I take a deep dive into the slipcased, oversized hardcover and review it in detail, while also conducting a brief edition comparison at points with the TPB and the deluxe hardcover. Featuring a look at the slipcase, the covers, the endpapers, the extras, and of course the main story itself and how the reading is affected and enhanced by this wonderful edition.

You are the guy that got me into Usagi Yojimbo and for that I cannot thank you enough. Every since I read Usagi I have been trying to get anyone who will liste to me to read it. Thank you so much. I don´t know how I got here, but I´m glad I did... For the last couple of weeks, your playlists are playing on my background while I work, and it´s really inspiring. Here in Brasil, in Despite of our chaotic political scenario, we´ve been living a very fertile moment for comics, with great artists and a few "smaller" publishing companies doing an amazing curation and editing work. Keep up with the great work

I'd love to know more about the comics culture and how it is developing in Brasil - I have very little knowledge about publishing from there although I have heard a lot of great things. Not to generalize, but historically sometimes turbulent times create great art as a reaction almost, and maybe what you are talking about is similar? I hope you keep enjoying the channel and I look forward to come suggestions and recommendations for what I should look out for, if I can find them here!
@@ftloc Thanks for your reply! I'm pretty sure you're right and 'turbulent' is a precise choice of word to translate what we're living... haha. We have plenty of amazing artists, but unfortunately most of them still not published in English. Checking on amazon, I could find a really strong piece of work with a neat hardcover english edition shipping to India, it's called Angola Janga: Kingdom of Runaway Slaves, by Marcelo D'Salete. The title is self explanatory, it's an historical facts based story about slavery in Brasil with thrilling narrative and beautiful artwork. Check that if you have the chance! If you ever want to know more about comics from a brazilian perspective, I'll definitely be around here for now on (Not saying I know much...haha, just another enthusiast)! Cheers

This is the Absolute I want to get the most out of any Absolutes. The slipcase looks amazing and fits the book perfectly

“If it weren’t for people, life would be a f’n desert.” -Jorge. This! And I say this as some who lives somewhat of a cloistered life. Slice of life type reads like this are great in that they take the everyday and present deeper meaning for one to ponder if you wish to do so. You can skip it too. :-) In film Ozu was a master at this.
I too sometimes feel I live a cloistered life, but cannot deny the impact of people on my love of the world. Even if you think all you want to do is spend all day reading or watching movies, those artists are people making things worthwhile 😀
(of course people also are a big reason to dislike much of what's in the world, but that's a different conversation!)

Yes! A modern masterpiece. I bought a HC a few years ago and fell in love and then realized that the art is also from The Umbrella Academy.....love both, but this story is beyond special.

One of those I've been meaning to get around to but never have! I always throw out those little blurb barcodes myself, but I can understand how many people wish to keep them as part of the "complete" set. Great videos as always, Angshuman.

@@pratyayghosh1717 Oh dear, that's not good! 😋 I had to record this video at different times so I got a lot of variance in volume recording between the sessions. I tried using a multiband compressor to equalize the levels across the clips but must have messed it up, being the noob that I am...
Could you make a video in which you discuss about different editions in which comics are published like single tpb and omnibus absolutes and all

I love Daytripper so much that I bought a deluxe edition even though I already have the absolute edition. I figured the deluxe edition could be a copy I can lend out to folks. The absolute edition is too good to lend out as I don’t want to risk damage to it, haha
I completely understand that sentiment, and am glad you were able to find a copy of the deluxe (I heard it was OOP). When BA and Moon visited Comic Con Delhi, the deluxe wasn't yet released, so I got them to sign my old, second hand to, so now I can't even lend THAT out! 😁
@@ftloc haha. The deluxe edition is in fact out of print. I just happened see it available online at 1 small comic book shop. I wonder if the absolute edition will go out of print at some point. Seems to be plenty of those online.

but why is it so overpriced? you about 30bucks for nothing. Normal price should be about 40-55.but it sells for 70.
Do you mean in pounds? It's actually priced at 99 dollars according to Amazon, part of DC's new pricing... But seems to be available between 60 and 70 dollars. I think I paid about that much?
