After that I slowly came to understand about Ninja Theory and Melina Juergens not exactly being a professional actress at the time, and also the journey it was to try and build and portray an accurate representation of mental illness inside an action fantasy game. More and more it all increasingly felt like all the stars aligned for this project. And then at the Game Awards you have this award given by Andy Serkis himself to Melina and the first thing she does is to recognize him for his work. This is the kind of thing that makes me wish again and again that the Game Awards needs to be about pursuing excellence in the various fields and be much more than just an excuse to market new video games. I know there's a lot of costs involved that must be paid somehow, but I wish the passionate and serious people about video games keep coming and making the Awards an authentic and critical recognition of great performances in all the fields. Just finished Hellblade (I know, kinda late to the party). She absolutely KILLED IT as the lead in this game. While I was playing I couldn't quite put my finger on what was so special about her performance... it felt so... real and gritty like no other motion capture or voice actor I've heard before. No diss on the other nominees but when I hear them in games I just know, that I'm listening to an actor portraying a character. This wasn't the case with Melina/Senua. I was completely invested in her journey and her struggles, I was rooting and fearing for her throughout the entirety of the game and then I learned that she wasn't even an actor by trade. Hats off to her, marvelous job.
She mentioned in one of the dev diaries that she started as a stand in for their tech tests while they searched for an actress. Kudos to their creative team for taking the risk and realizing they already had their Senua on the team.
Most actors are so good that they remenber their speeches and don't need a note. She is no actress, she needed a phone to read her speech and the poor thing was shaking and Crying. Theres a belief in the world of theatre and the performing arts. Anyone can act if given the right circumstance. You don't have to be a big name or go to dozens of schools or be in dozens of big roles. You just need the drive and the desire in that moment, and maybe a little play, to get into the moment.

@@veiga4051 i bought it on this week friday.It'll be totally worth it if you open for immersive games.Melina is immensly talanted and steals the show in the game.Headphones make the experience much more immersive and unpleasant in a way that's intended.It literally made me feel like crazy and i also recommand you playing it through with as few stops as possible.
