The first two tracks off the Wild Life album - Mumbo & Bop Bop - are very raw, different and great fun. And fantastic vocals as always. Love is Strange and Dear Friend are also great tracks.
"Temporary Secretary" and "Waterfalls", both from the Mccartney II album. One is very divisive among Mccartney fans, some like it (myself included) and others dont, and the other is a very beautiful track.
Always rated Little Lamb Dragonfly as one of Paul's forgotten great songs. I did'nt realise it was recorded during the Ram sessions, but hearing it again all these years later I can see how it could have fitted on that album, which is my favourite. Thanks for the reaction,..I learnt something new today, and I'm an old UK dude from the 60's.
Macca Monday Magic. Paul's iconic voice keeps the Beatles alive in our hearts, thankfully so. Both tracks great, the second one so beautiful and endearing. Love that you love all things Beatle adjacent as we do, L33. Get well soon. Blessings all. Peace
Little Lamb Dragonfly is a treasure. McCartney is a gift. His post-Beatles work is far superior to the others (so is his Beatles work, if we're being honest.) Hope you feel better! Thanks for another Macca Monday.
Hope you feel better soon. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Thanks as always for continuing to explore the unlimited musical catalog of Paul McCartney.
Two fine tracks from this album. (most of this album written and recorded at time of RAM. Originally planned as a double album) Many people view Little Lamb Dragonfly as too saccharine, but it's sweetness is it's charm and my god, those soaring melody lines. Listeners have to get used to once he became married, he rarely put a woman's name in song anymore.(unless it is his wife) He started using animal words or inanimate objects as a substitute for a proper noun. i.e.: The medley off this album (Lazy Dynamite), Big Barn Bed's Leapin Armidillo and even much later off of NEW when Alligator is a metaphor for his work troubles., and zoo is the office.
This was wonderful! Speedway is one of my favorite Macca albums. You really need to check out Rubert and the Frog song. It's so sweet and your kids will enjoy it as well. We all Stand Together is a fun little song.
Ich liebe diese LP seit sie erschienen ist. Ich war gerade 16 Jahre alt. Nun bin ich 68 - und höre sie noch immer. Big born bad ist mein Lieblingssong. Gruß aus Deutschland. Horst 😮
Little Lamb Dragonfly is highly underrated McCartney song. So beautiful a song medley. If you read into the lyrics as people rather than animals and insects, someone you know you lost or had problems, and you felt helpless to help them, it becomes a very personal, heart wrenching song. I've sing this song since it came out when I was 17, 51 years ago. Reminds me now of my daughter....
Interesting that you thought for a moment it was John's voice, because I'm convinced that this is one of those (few, really) songs that were aimed at John. As you said, this was made in the RAM sessions, which did produce songs referring to John. In this case, think of iconic contemporary images of John, eyes hidden behind those round black glasses (dragonfly) and kissing a big red rose during his Bed-In For Peace (Red Rose Speedway cover, Paul with a red rose stuck in his mouth), then read the lyric: Dragonfly, fly by my window, You and I still have a way to go . . . Since you've gone I never know, I go on, but I miss you so . . . Dragonfly don't keep me waiting, When we try, we'll have a way to go. Dragonfly, you've been away too long; How did two rights make a wrong? Since you've gone I never know I go on but I miss you so . . . etc
Thank you for highlighting Red Rose. Such an underappreciated and severely underplayed record. Paul thought Ram was going to be a double album, so that is why it was recorded during that session.
Another song in which I think McCartney's vocals really sound like Lennon's is Man We Was Lonely from the McCartney album (1970), especially during the chorus
It’s good to get sleep. Rest… I love your story of where Paul is in your room. I’ve never heard either song before… Little Lamb Dragonfly is a beautiful Paul song.
Love both songs but ‘Little Lamb Dragonfly’ has always been one of my favorites. McCartney bleeds melodies. And the lyrics are more deep than they appear (as usual.) Sending you healing vibes, physical and emotional 🫶🏽
Hey Lee! I'm a patron but it's easier for me to talk here! Paul McCartney 's Red Rose Speedway is a different size of Paul! You need to listen to the whole album!
Feel better soon, Lee. Please check out the single from 1971's "Ram", "Another Day", along with Ram's last two songs, "Eat at Home", and "Heart of the Country". I think you'll love all 3. And, the Monday after that, please listen to "Junk", from Paul's 1st post-Beatles album, plus "Live and Let Die", the theme for the 1973 James Bond movie of the same name, starring Roger Moore as 007! So sorry about the loss of your dear Dad, especially so early in your life. I understand. God bless you and keep you. It's always hardest during Holidays.
feel better Lee. being sick sucks. i know you miss your Dad as you should. losing a parent is the worst. my dad passed nov 15th and my mom nov 29th i was 4 years old when my mom passed. tmi but, i understand your feelings. hope you and your family have a nice Thanksgiving! thank you, for all your hard work and good music.!
Hello L33, Good Monday to you. Not familiar with these two picks. But I’ve heard the first one Big Barn Bed before just didn’t know the title. Never heard Little Lamb Dragon fly before and yes it did sound like John in the beginning. Then Paul’s voice comes out. Peace
Anyone who would trash Little Lamb Dragonfly is musical idiot stuck in a one trick pony musical preference rut. There's NOTHING wrong with beauty in music, and this is beautiful. McCartney could rock out and scream, and turn right around and sing you al lullaby at the drop of a hat. That's total talent. Mister L33Reacts has discovered that he has his own total musicale class.
sent you a link once for "Rupert and the Frog Song". GREAT ANIMATION (as good as DISNEY) and great music. There is a DVD of his three animated works, Besides Rupert, there was "Tuesday" based on a book by the same name. OUTSTANDING ANIMATIONS and a instrumental music score composed by Paul. Voice over at the end by Dustin Hoffman. The first in the series was Tropic Island Hum produced by Paul and Linda dealing with animal rights. It has a more upbeat song. Your girls would love these short films. Each can be found on RUclips. All less than 15 min. Great for this channel. Give them a look. Enjoy. I know you will.
The lyrics are really not "very simplistic" - listen carefully, and see my other post re Lennon: "you've been away too long / How did two rights make a wrong?
Macca Monday could not be misssed... sick or not LOL. If you have a suggestion for next week, I'm all ears (and a runny nose).
If you want to stay with "Red Rose Speedway", "Get on the Right Thing" is a fun Paul vocal.
The first two tracks off the Wild Life album - Mumbo & Bop Bop - are very raw, different and great fun. And fantastic vocals as always. Love is Strange and Dear Friend are also great tracks.
Here Today (tribute to Lennon) from 1982 album Tug of War and also double play acoustic live version from 6-27-07 Live at Amoeba Records.
"Temporary Secretary" and "Waterfalls", both from the Mccartney II album. One is very divisive among Mccartney fans, some like it (myself included) and others dont, and the other is a very beautiful track.
somedays from flaming pie is so beautiful, as well as calico skies from the same album x
I love little lamb dragonfly sooo much, it reminds me of my grandfather who sadly passed away
I bought Wings Wild Life because I could see Paul & Linda on the cover. Had no idea it was his new band at the time. Still have it 50 years later!
Paul was and is a musical genius. Everything he’s been involved with over his life has an element of greatness to it. Thanks Lee.

Little lamb dragonfly is one of my favorites 😊
Little Lamb Dragonfly is a treasure. McCartney is a gift. His post-Beatles work is far superior to the others (so is his Beatles work, if we're being honest.) Hope you feel better! Thanks for another Macca Monday.
I love these McCartney Monday videos ❤ they make my day. Thank you, Lee.
I LOVE Little Lamb Dragonfly--especially the Dragonfly portion of the song--what a great melody.
Two of my favorite early Wings songs. Always thought LLD was one of his best early Wings songs
Heis a treasure, for sure. Thank you. I hope you feel better, take care.
Awesome ❤❤
Dragonfly.....Paul doing his best John impression. Some people say this song is about John. What ever it's one of his best ever songs
Isn't the start of Little Lamb Dragonfly just Denny singing?
Second song was beautiful
Everything Paul McCartney does is awesome
Digging deep. Very cool.
I feel like Little Lamb Dragonfly is for John. Makes sense why the vocals sounded like John at the beginning. Likely not a coincidence.
I always thought Little Lamb Dragonfly was about Paul missing John.
LLD is a gorgeous work of art.
Macca Monday ❤ he always gets my heart moving.
Hope you feel better soon. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Thanks as always for continuing to explore the unlimited musical catalog of Paul McCartney.
Oooo, I love both of these!
I do, too! This entire album is so good!
Dragonfly when I first heard it back then and now makes me cry . One of his many wonderful songs.

I hope you feel better soon! ✌️❤️
He works too hard. He needs more days off.❤
Little Lamb is one of my absolute favorites! Another McCartney masterpiece!
"Little Lamb Butterfly" was always my favorite track on this album.
This was wonderful! Speedway is one of my favorite Macca albums.
You really need to check out Rubert and the Frog song. It's so sweet and your kids will enjoy it as well. We all Stand Together is a fun little song.

Paul is the best composer / musician in the world. ❤❤

Isn't it just Denny on he start of Little Lamb Dragonfly?
LLD is my favourite Macca song, thought it was just me until I read the comments
This my favorite McCartney Album.
It’s good to get sleep. Rest…
I love your story of where Paul is in your room.
I’ve never heard either song before…
Little Lamb Dragonfly is a beautiful Paul song.
Lee, with that cover and Paul's picture and your face next to it... Dude, you could be brothers!!!
My late brother is now the dragonfly that flies by my window
This is the album when McCartney and Wings got their sh*t together, leading up to the master piece album Band on the Run.
Love both songs but ‘Little Lamb Dragonfly’ has always been one of my favorites. McCartney bleeds melodies. And the lyrics are more deep than they appear (as usual.) Sending you healing vibes, physical and emotional 🫶🏽

Little Lamb/Dragonfly - - - Lennon/McCartney ??
Try “Oh Woman Oh Why” B side to “Another Day” it’s Raw & Great!
sent you a link once for "Rupert and the Frog Song". GREAT ANIMATION (as good as DISNEY) and great music. In fact I just watched Rubert and the Frog Song and Tuesday
One might even think Dragonfly and Little Lamb are Lennon and McCartney....... but who is who?
Good question... I wonder what he will come up with 🤐
The lyrics are really not "very simplistic" - listen carefully, and see my other post re Lennon: "you've been away too long / How did two rights make a wrong?
I love Paul, but let's be honest, this is such drivel compared to Plastic Ono Band.
Oh good lord 🤣
