The improvement in George's voice in the mix,and especially the instruments, certainly George's guitars, really cemented my love of this new mix. It is certainly one of his finest albums, and this new mix really did it justice.
I absolutely LOVE the new remix and remaster of this, George’s 1973 masterpiece, an album I bought on its initial release all those years ago. I bought the 2cd only set this time round as I don’t play vinyl any more and indeed, as I don’t have surround sound capabilities, the blu ray would have been a waste of money so I’ve saved myself a wedge of money. The new anniversary version has brought to life all the instrumentation but more importantly George’s vocals now sound fuller and more present than on the previous 2006 box set…a joy to behold! All in all I’m delighted with this “cleaner” LITMW…special thanks must go to Paul Hicks et al for a job well done… and to dear George of course ❤
"Though we started out quite poor, we got Richie on a tour." It's one of my favorite albums that I bought in the 70s! Bringing his vocals more to the front is a welcome relief. That was the issue with "What is Life," from ATMP. Great upload!
I wish that they would do a deluxe treatment to the self titled 1979 George Harrison album because I absolutely love his solo hit blow away and the other single faster dedicated to Jackie Stewart, one of his buddies
Underrated Harrison album It topped the album chart in the US ,Belgium and Canada. Many outside of the US are unaware of the fact that Give Me Love knocked McCartney's My Love out of the #1 position on the Billboard chart. A feat I'm sure George got satisfaction out of
I have never been a big fan of this album, there are a few very good songs and as always, a superb backup band. I am passing on this new release, I have listened to the new remixes via streaming and do agree the remixes have improved this album, but I still prefer 33 1/3rd and the self-titled album. Cheers from Texas!
I've owned this album on vinyl for years, but have never been into it as much as I have with this new remix. The bonus outtakes and alternate versions are a delight - George's vocals, his slide guitar, and Nicky Hopkins' and Klaus' brilliant playing tops the whole thing off.
The previous reissue set from 2006 gave us a Give me love video live in Japan and an acoustic demo of sue me sue you blues , sadly missing on the new set
Great review Andrew. I acquired the LITMW album as an 8th grade graduation gift and have played it all my life. I’m 65 now. I purchased the remaster that came out around 2006 and also bought the Harrison Apple Years box that came out in 2014. I was disappointed with those mixes as I thought they were muddy. I’ll be getting the new box set for Christmas and look forward to this new mix. It sounds as if it’s what I’ve been waiting for. Don’t let me wait to long. 😊
The new mixes bring George's voice more to the front, and the instruments are clearer. He sounds great. This has always been my favorite album of his. I appreciated that they kept the original beautiful art work and extras, like the lyric sheet. People who have never bought vinyl really miss out on how much care some artists put into album art, like photos on the labels and inner fold out photos. This was one of the best at that time. I understand that George's widow, Olivia, says this is her favorite of his work. I also have the 1973 45 single of "Give Me Love", which has one of my favorite B-Sides, "Miss O'Dell". A new mix is available in the expanded packages, but not on the single vinyl one. The last line of the song supposedly has Paul McCartney's then-telephone number!
Nice job on the video, Andrew. I have always loved this album and I think the remix is well-done. Certainly opens the sound up and George's vocals, just beautiful. I found myself really appreciating Klaus Voorman's bass more than ever on this remix. I am pleasantly surprised to report one of my least favorite tracks on the original album, Try Some Buy Some, sounds marvelous on the outtakes album. I really dig the stripped down version.
Try using Japanese style round bottom inners if you want to make use of those printed inner sleeves. That's what I've always done and it works out well. 👍
I was of an age that 33 1/3 was my “George album”. I bought All Things Must Pass later, and while I liked it, I was hearing Cloud 9 singles on the radio by that time, and George had a vibe that did not work well for my teenage self. So I have really never paid much attention to Living in the Material World. I’m going to make some time later today and play it all the way through.
I’m one you can count as loving the remix. Material World to me was like Mind Games - some truly great standouts and some by-the-numbers stuff., hampered by a blah mix. This remix has helped break up the cluttered, kinda muddy sound of 73 into something that positively shimmers on the ballads. I can definitely see this rising up on my own George list now. Thanks again for another great in-depth look, Andrew!
Very nice as always, Andrew. This has been my favorite George album since its original release. That Cashbox chart was nostalgic for me: I bought albums 1 thru 6 on that list when they were new. Once again, a salute from a broadcaster of nearly 50 years on the production. I like the way you’ve been using AI to strip vocals when appropriate. And I chuckled at the Madonna snippet.
I agree with you about having the CD and vinyl together on these box sets. I have the Kinks ATVGPS box set from 2018 and I love it. Rip the cd's on my DAP and computer. The vinyl for real serious listening. I wish the Who, Kinks, Stones, and Small Faces would do the same for their albums. I don't need big thick books, stickers, etc. Just put the vinyl and cd's as the set to bring the cost down a little bit and I will be in heaven.
When CSNY released the 50th Anniversary edition of Deja Vu I was thirlled to see both the CDs and Vinyl in one package. Best of both worlds is always the way to go IMHO. They followed it up with a "best of" the bonus tracks pressing for Record Store Day. Another smart move to tap into those who bought only the vinyl edition.
This is my favorite GH album as well, right up there above ATMP and GH. I was 11 when it dropped and absolutely loved GML! I finally got two sealed first pressing US Apple lps in 1980 at a little known record shop in Houston that had tons of new albums and 45s (I also got the textured original Close to the Edge, mono The Beatles [no number] and Apple Yesterday and Today in complete true stereo with a mix of I'm Only Sleeping I've never heard, TO DATE!). I'm ecstatic Dhani has taken excellent care of this issue... just wish I could afford the box set!
The more I listen to these new remixes, the more I appreciate the original mix. Definitely, the new mix sounds better and logical than the ATMP in 2020. Lovely video & explanation as always! Cheers from BCN
With the advent of Atmos and advanced audio techniques that exist now (which will only get better) it seems the interest from old school fans (hearing things in a new way) and new fans (streaming generation and hipster vinyl collectors) it would appear to me, now is the time to produce these new releases regardless of how the original albums did commercially. This also makes me wonder if Macca stopped his Archive collection because of the 'new mixes' approach. And maybe we'll see Paul re release strategy pivot to old albums remixed from the ground up.
The remix didn't change my view on this George Harrison album. Like it did with John Lennon's "Mind Games". I've always found "Living In The Material World" a little low-key and dull. I love the first two tracks, but that's all. And a remix didn't change how I feel. I agree the musicianship is great, but the songs just don't speak to me. I think "All Things Must Pass" is much better. I don't care for the next two George Harrison albums after this, as well. Same thing, two tracks I like or love, and that's it. The only other George Harrison album I'm hoping to get a super deluxe set, is "Cloud Nine". I think that has great commercial potential. They could cover from "Shanghai Surprise" all the way to George's 1992 Royal Albert Hall UK concert. They could include all of the spare standalone songs, and even the early "Brainwashed" tracks. That would make for a great deluxe box set.
Great review Andrew! I love the remix it brings the album to life more. The sound is much fuller and George’s Vocals are more upfront. I didn’t get the super deluxe . I just got the two cd set. I am hoping for a standalone Blu-ray release. In the future. Have a great week Andrew!
George was My favorite Beatle for sure!! Every LP is a good one! Some exceptional some so so! But I loved his faith and love topic song the best! RIP! Great work again from Andrew the magnificent 😛👍😉🎉
George's big mistake was to release a three-LP album when the Beatles folded. He should have released the songs, one album at a time. Would have satisfied the public for a couple of years at least.
The box looks amazing. I have found that there are different sizes of those paper sleeves. I have sone Iron Maiden maxi singles that have the same issue. I still have the CD from the 90 and then the Deluxe cd box set from the 2000’s which I really treasure. Maybe I will get the vinyl now!
A definitive strength of this album was exquisite melodic sense on "Who Can See It", "The Day The World Gets Round", "That Is All", and others. Also direct sincerity of George's vocal deliveries throughout. I explored the record as a teenager in 1977, and although "All Things Must Pass" was near impossible to beat, this became my favorite. Wholesale overhauls like this and "Mind Games", etc. are not really appealing to me... having been imprinted by the original mixes, modernizations feel and sound intrusive, like departures from true form. Rather astronomical expense is a related factor. Nevertheless, glad current listeners can get into essential old albums, and can afford them.
Why is Rolling Stone saying LIMW is a "slept on" masterpiece? We always knew it was a masterpiece. George is at his very spiritual, a little bit snarky, singing guitar, beautiful vocal, best.
I enjoy your videos, they are informative and professional, I just feel I need to say, and I know its all subjective, but 1973 was not a 'dark and depressing place' it was wonderful, it was free it was less complicated, we even had John Paul George and Ringo alive and with us, christmas lights were lanterns of pastel colours, (yes there were issues, there are always issues), purely from a person standpoint I love every minute of 1973. Would I go back, yes but being in my mid 60's would still like a few more years on me. Great video.
Brilliant review Andrew This album is one of my favourite albums of all time. I remember the excitement of buying it on release date back in 1973. I had the same excitement about the remix. I love it. The extra disc is great. Be here now is stunning and Try Some Buy Some alternate version a real gem. My only gripe would be that if there were demos of Photograph and You and Me Babe they should’ve been included. But I am the happiest bunny. Hopefully Mr Hicks is busy doing Dark Horse and the live shows now
As a reviewer, I'm often asked if I want the deluxe set, and I always ask if they can just send the Blu-Ray or DVD instead. Why? Because I'm really there for the music, and feel that while the books, posters, etc.. are lovely, I tend to look at them once, and that's it. I'm there for the music, remix, remastering, etc.. So, the rest just takes up space for me. While I have a solid system for vinyl, I prefer digital, because cutting vinyl from a digital master, never really made a lot of sense for me. Why not just stick with the master and cut out the middleman? Once again, I'm there for the music, not the ritual. Still, vinyl can sound lovely. I've been listening to the recent Steven Wilson produced Moondance by Van Morrison, and it's great in surround/Atmos. Same with Lennnon. Can't wait to hear this new version on Qobuz in high-res! I remember when the album came out, a friend brought it along with other new albums I couldn't afford over, and we made cassette dubs of it, and I used to love listening to it in the car. Great review! Keep it up! And the anti-greed message has never been more relevant and important.
As always, I only wanted the BluRay, as I have the 1st ed which I bought at the time. I listen on streaming, but a standalone BluRay would be wonderful for MY pocket. Fabulous videos as usual. Thank you so much. Barty
This album was a number 1 hit in some places but 1974's Dark Horse didn't sell - which seems like audiences were initially disappointed by this and stopped buying George albums.
My exact thoughts were that this new mix has done the same as the new mix for mind games did for me. Made an ok album into a fantastical album. The original was good and i knew it but it just sounded rubbish, the same as mind games, and the new mix has pushed this way up the rankings of George's albums. The songs were always quality but i never heard it until this remix.
Hi Andrew What a great review and immersion into this new box. I only picked up the code version, but when becomes available again I may go all the way. I'm curious how and what you are using to listen to the Atmos in headphones. I have a vintage receiver only been inputed with stereo left and right. My blu ray player will play atmos but coming out of my receiver in stereo,
I don’t need the cd’s in the same box as the vinyl, like you I would have wanted more extra content. The book in this set is great, much better than that of All things must pass set.
I prefer that all albums should be released as cd or cd and dvd plus the vinyl on its own and the blue ray on its own. The amount of blu rays I own that won't get played due to not having a 5.1 system is amazing and wasteful. If someone wants vinyl and cd then they have the option to buy both.
Time to step up to surround. Mickey Hart sent me his remix of the American Beauty on DVD-A, and it made having a surround system a no-brainer. Some of the surround and ATMOS mixes are amazing. Not all, but most of the time, they are great. Even the Home Theater in a Box from Big Box stores can provide decent audio.
Be Here Now demo is stunning. I love George's singing on the alternative disc, but I dislike his singing on the remix. I'm not a fan of this remix, unlike the beautiful remix of Mind Games.
I probably have 15 or 20 "Super Deluxe" albums that include the LP and CD/DVD. I don't listen to my LPs any more, so the only thing I like is that the book is full size. I didn't buy the original and will pass on this one. I got back into George with his 33&1/3 album.
I am generally pleased with the remixes done on the Beatles and solo albums so far. I haven’t bought this album yet, but I will in the coming weeks. There are those who consider the remixes a desecration and a cash grab, but the way I see it, they’re just trying to be “different “ in order to garner more views. No need to act outraged standing on their cardboard soapbox. For the most part they are an improvement over the original mixes as many of them lack “presence” due to limitations of the sound recording equipment of the time, and in the case of John and George’s earliest albums: a misguided decision to hire Phil Spector. For as pioneers as the Beatles were, they were as technically clueless since the albums they produced sounded lifeless, dated and muddy. The unfortunate legacy of that deranged man, Phil Spector.
The box set is very well produced and the music sounds great with a clarity that was missing from the original release. Definitely one of George’s best albums. Thanks for your review of it, Andrew!
Hello Andrew. I haven't picked this up yet, but will when it is back in stock in a couple of places shop at, I will. As always, a very neat and concise review. I must concur with you about the Box set. Why didn't come with a poster when the other versions have it? Strange. As other have mentioned this has always been a favorite of mine. Great song writing, tight backing. It has always ranked high on my listening list. Keep up the good work.
Your videos are great always. Wonderfully informed (and how!). And you know what is pertinent and what to leave out, a rare skill. .Bravo! (I have been listening to and loving the lads since 1964,, when I was eleven..)
'Wonderwall' is, in my opinion, not only a masterpiece as far as George Harrison is concerned but one of the most underrated works of music ever released... and I usually deplore the use of the word "underrated". It hasn't gotten its share of praise because most people approach it as being made by "Beatle" George Harrison. It is more than that. It is a classic piece of "world music". Approach this record with this in mind!
Following George and Madonna's falling out after their "Shangai Surprise" movie incident, that was a nice, subtle touch of sarcasm from you, Andrew. Great content as usual!! 🤣🤣👍👍
I just received the deluxe set a few days ago and it’s very nice. The vinyl sounds great and I also burn the CDs to my Apple Music library where I can listen on the go. I did listen to the Blu-ray as well and it’s a wonderful set. My only issues was pre ordering from the George Harrison site as I received the set 4 days after the release date. Thanks for the wonderful review Andrew!
I broke one of my hard and fast rules by watching a review on something I don't possess yet. Amazon US has twice delayed delivery on my SDE so far, with sometime this upcoming week as the new expected delivery. I did break down and purchase the 2 cd set to keep me company until the box arrives. I can say that I wasn't initially going to purchase the SDE, but the inclusion of the Blu-Ray, plus the limited edition aspect made me pull the trigger. I didn't particularly want the new vinyl of this album, but I'm sure it'll get some use here. I love the remix, both stereo and Dolby Atmos (via streaming). This album now breathes in a way it didn't before. IMHO, both George and John could have benefited from having a producer (that wasn't Phil Spector) in 1973. I think my favorite from disc 2 was The Light That Has Lighted The World. I didn't much care for this album when it was released. I think I was too young to understand it. Over the years it has really grown on me, and I now find there is not much space between this and my favorite All Things Must Pass. The remix of Sue Me Sue Blues gave me an appreciation of that song I never had before. I'm anxiously awaiting your 1964 box review. I've got some pretty strong opinions on it already and I haven't even started listening yet.
The concept of adding bizarrely bloated bass and excessive compression in order to please a certain demographic/audience is mindless, self serving tripe. George would never, ever have approved. As it was, he hated the approach on "Cloud 9" and told Jeff Lynne not to do that on "Brainwashed." (His wish was not granted posthumously). The ATMP 50th is a sonic disaster and the Lennon series is not much better in this regard. The clarity and details of vocals is a good idea, but destroying the midrange on these releases is beyond off putting. Also, the packaging here is beyond silly and sloppy. One more thing, not including "Sail Away Raymond" on the 2 CD set but having it on the CD on the Super Deluxe is petty and a slap in the face to the fanbase. The Fab trust fund offspring need to get it together and cease the infantile games of wooden crates, cubes, hidden tracks, easter eggs and amateurish approaches to approving this level of mixing/mastering. Just an opinion.
@@carlmassengale1027 Yep, you nailed it. Between the flagrant packaging profiteering , and the mixing missteps....someone needs to take a long walk on a short pier.
Andrew, you are correct when suggesting that this box should really be all-encompassing, also containing the poster (which only appears in the 'regular' deluxe package). It's almost insulting that the lesser deluxe package amazingly does not contain Sail Away Raymond. Neither package contains Deep Blue, which you will recall was included as an extra track on the 2006 European reissue, along with Miss O'Dell. So it would not have been a stretch to also include it here. That's inept marketing for you! I would also suggest that bringing George's voice more forward in the mix is as distracting as it is unnecessary; if George had wanted his voice more prominent in the mix, he'd have done so at the time. I can only imagine that he wisely wanted his voice placed within the music, not in front of it. Certainly, it's not like you can't HEAR his voice in the original mix. So we once again have to take the good aspects of this package with the bad. That is the way of things.
Once again, who is actually addressing George's vinyl sound quality? This should have been an all analog production. Based on Andrew's feedback on the vinyl, it's a 'no' for me.
I love how the brought out George's vocals front and center and how there is a lot of clarity in the music without straying too far from the original 73 release.
I just wish I could have purchased the Blu-ray Audio disc on its own, say for $30. More than anything, I'm interested in having the audio content in high resolution on physical media (with a booklet or liner notes), without paying to spend an extra $150+ dollars for LPs I'll never play, 45s, posters, etc.
I agree with you about the duality of having a boxset with vinyl and CD. I recently bought Embrace's Out of Nothing live and they did a similar thing where I could buy the CD and vinyl at a discount. It worked out at half price for the CD if I bought the vinyl. I would say this is a bit of an oversight by record manufacturers as I would token quite a chunk of people have both and indeed want this.
When I bought the original album in 1973, I tended to gravitate toward the up-tempo songs ("Sue Me Sue You Blues", "Don't Let Me Wait Too Long", "Living in the Material World") and rarely even played side two. Silly me. Those are still my favorite tracks, but the beauty of the slower songs has been revealed to me over the years. I still go to ATMP as my favorite George album (and I have a sneaking love for much of "Dark Horse"), but LITMW has risen in my estimation over the years. I've been disappointed in the sound quality of the previous digital releases; they all sound very muddy to me. This new box is a pleasure to hear, though I've only listened to the 5.1 mix on the Blu-Ray so far (I don't have ATMOS). It's not the most stunning surround mix, but it's very pleasant, and the sound is beautifully clear. The fact that they included surround mixes of the entire second disc on the Blu-Ray is a huge plus. And I completely agree with you on the alternate version of "Try Some Buy Some"; George's guitar solos make it my go-to for this underrated song from now on. I do wish that an alternate "Miss O'Dell" had been included in addition to the "laughing" released version, and I'm irritated that the instrumental "Sunshine Life For Me" is only on the 7-inch, which I will have to transfer to the computer very soon. (You do know that the song itself was for Ringo, and included on his self-titled album, of course.) For those people lamenting the absence of "Deep Blue" (one of my favorite Harrison tracks), I suspect it and the "Bangla Desh" single will probably make an appearance on the eventual deluxe "Concert for Bangla Desh" package that Dhani has hinted is being worked on. I'm a bit sorry for its absence here, but I think it'll show up on a subsequent release. I really don't like the added premium I have to pay to get the box set because the vinyl discs are included. But the book is enjoyable, though the "Recording Notes" are more informative, and it's a nicely assembled package (except for those odd outer sleeves you've mentioned). So the vinyl will sit in the box, unused, just as they do in my "All Things Must Pass" crate. Sigh. (But I can still look at the gnomes every day!)
Thanks Andrew for another excellent video. I've owned this album from day one it's release but decided to pass on the new Super Deluxe Edition box set. Just too costly in my humble opinion and too many things that could have been better. I still enjoy my original UK LP (-4U/-2U) and the 2006 reissue CD. Personally, I like the Dark Horse album better but like you said its' chances of seeing a deluxe reissue like Material World aren't particularly good since it didn't even chart in the UK and the USA tour behind it was met with a lot of indifference.
I'm really impressed with this remix and the outtakes disc. I have the 2 CD set and the 2 LP set, and am awaiting delivery of the deluxe box. I, as someone who likes to buy the CD and Vinyl editions of an album (my most recent purchases being on Friday 22/11/24 of Joan Armatrading's new album) I welcome box sets comprising of both formats. Living In The Material World has lived up to and exceeded my expectations with the new lease of life given to it by Paul Hicks. Outstanding tracks for me being Don't Let Me Wait Too Long on the remixed album and Give Me Love take 18 on disc two. It's a set that will now be my go to copy to play from now on. Looking forward to getting my Box set. But one thing puzzles me. There seems to have been an absence of mailing out copies to you tube channels to review, which seems so unusual. I really hope that Living In The Material World becomes the benchmark for all future box sets by all artists and bands as regards content and quality, as it seems these wonderful sets are the way forward in keeping some of these classic albums out there for new listeners to discover and most importantly to enjoy. Thanks so much for this review Andrew, looking forward to your Beatles '64 box set review and to the Documentary we're all getting on the 29th.
LITMW is definitely my favourite George Harrison solo album, and one I play regularly. I’d even go so far to say that it’s up there with my all time favourite albums. I can’t criticise it in any way, and much prefer it to ATMP. The box set is way overdue, but, I’ll stick with my old pressing - it sounds great, and I don’t need the extra tracks.
Since I haven’t been able to purchase this yet, I really can’t comment on it. It certainly was one of my faves too. But I am surprised that the two tracks, that davidreckamp8161 mentioned, were not on this edition nor any demos. Seems an unusual decision. The laughing one and the non laughing one would have been fun in the collection. Maybe, it’s a stretch, put a piece of session or something from Ronnie Spector’s take of Try Some Buy Some? Missing poster, “Spinal Tap’s measurements” of printed inner sleeves? I don’t know. Almost sounds like a corporate decision to me. You have to buy the other to complete the collection? Don’t appreciate those marketing “skills” myself. Can’t wait to hear it though! As always Andrew. Thanks for the heads up and great review.
You would thought the Harrison estate would have at least had the foresight to include a small bag of lawn clippings from Friar Park for this boxed set to increase the pricepoint for the fans, amirite?
I will not be buying this release...at least not now. I'll wait until is goes down in price on Amazon. With the exception of Give Me Love, I don't think that I play this one any further. Great video, Andrew. I did pick up Meet The Beatles on blue vinyl yesterday. The sound is nice and toasty in comparison with a mint condition copy of the 1964 release.
My favourite alternative track isnt even on this release... The Light That Has Lighted The World (Demo) from the Early Takes album is so beautiful.. Pity in some ways it wasnt included as would save me changing cd's !
Personally I don't think LITMW and almost all George albums onwards really needed a remix, but maybe Dark Horse and Gone Troppo could use some if it's possible, like, if they could improve the vocals in Dark Horse and strip-down the production of Gone Troppo, but in terms of Super Deluxe releases I'd like to see the release of alternative, the scrapped 1980 version of Somewhere in England in its original mixes and tracklisting, which we didn't get back in 2021 (which supposed to be the 40th anniversary of the album iirc?) just my 2c.
Signed copy of Self-titled online auction ends Monday 19:00 in uk, presently £250!! genuine signature.
I’m in this boat! Both this and 33 1/3 are great albums, and I still prefer both to Material World just as far as great songs go.
Underrated Harrison album
It topped the album chart in the US ,Belgium and Canada.
Yes! I think it is his best; I can say for sure that it’s my favorite.❤️
Always enjoy your videos, Andrew. Thank you for the review! I’ll have to wait and see if I get this next month for my birthday or Christmas. - Roger
Thanks Darren. Hope you enjoy yours!
Thanks Anthony. Glad you enjoyed it.

Try using Japanese style round bottom inners if you want to make use of those printed inner sleeves. That's what I've always done and it works out well. 👍
Exactly the same as I do and I do so because Andrew himself recommended that on a past video.
Thank you Andrew
You're welcome!
Thanks for the post. I'm patiently awaiting to receive the deluxe edition box set from Germany. Cheers from Indiana 👍
Hope you enjoy it!
Probably my favorite George solo album
I have always loved this album and Dark Horse.
Time to get my amplifier fixed!
Cd's and LP.
It's his concept album. It's his "A Day in the Life."
The more I listen to these new remixes, the more I appreciate the original mix. Definitely, the new mix sounds better and logical than the ATMP in 2020. Lovely video & explanation as always! Cheers from BCN
Cheers! Glad you enjoy it!
I noticed Now & Then right on George's heal in the charts!
Great review Andrew! I love the remix it brings the album to life more. The sound is much fuller and George’s Vocals are more upfront. I didn’t get the super deluxe . I just got the two cd set. I am hoping for a standalone Blu-ray release. In the future. Have a great week Andrew!
Thanks Matt. Glad you enjoyed it!
George was
My favorite Beatle for sure!! Every LP is a good one! Some exceptional some so so! But I loved his faith and love topic song the best! RIP! Great work again from Andrew the magnificent 😛👍😉🎉
Thank you again, Cleve!
My super deluxe is in the mail .
Loved LITMW and have three box sets and I am so looking forward to this set .
Good on you , thank you ❤😂
Hope you enjoy it!
George's big mistake was to release a three-LP album when the Beatles folded. He should have released the songs, one album at a time. Would have satisfied the public for a couple of years at least.
i was happy to find out memberships were only 2 bucks a month. great video as always
Thanks for your support!
Big fan of these new mixes ❤
Thanks
Why is Rolling Stone saying LIMW is a "slept on" masterpiece? We always knew it was a masterpiece. George is at his very spiritual, a little bit snarky, singing guitar, beautiful vocal, best.
Bravo Andrew, interesting as usual 😊
Thank you Riccardo!
I was 6 years old in 1973 and would love to go back too. But for many people of working age, my parents included, they were tough times.
Brilliant review Andrew
This album is one of my favourite albums of all time. Hopefully Mr Hicks is busy doing Dark Horse and the live shows now
Thanks Edward. Glad you enjoyed it.
Very nice boxset. I hope Bangladesh/Deep Blue gets the same treatment soon as it was left out of this release.
As always, I only wanted the BluRay, as I have the 1st ed which I bought at the time.
I listen on streaming, but a standalone BluRay would be wonderful for MY pocket.
Fabulous videos as usual.
Thank you so much.
Barty
Thanks Barty. Glad you enjoyed it.
Maybe it was the production, but my favorite one has always been “Darkhorse”
This album was a number 1 hit in some places but 1974's Dark Horse didn't sell - which seems like audiences were initially disappointed by this and stopped buying George albums.
I think those are just inner sleeves. I know they open on the side rather than the top but I don't think they're intended to be jackets.
My blu ray player will play atmos but coming out of my receiver in stereo,
Thanks Bill. Glad you enjoyed it. I am using Airpods Pro for the Atmos.
I would hope the Harrison estates skips extra texture. Paul Hicks does a fantastic job on these remixes.
Yo Andrew could you possibly do a review on the lamb lies down on broadway super deluxe set?
It’s on my list!
@ :)
I’ve never had a atmos mix. Just the streaming quality
Now my Sunday's complete..thanks man✌️
Andrew, did you say that you'd posted a link to unboxing the Mono '64 set please? I can't find it.
I didn’t do an unboxing in the end. Instead, there will be a full review next weekend.
I don’t think the plain inners are supposed to fit inside the printed ones. I think it’s a case of either/or.
Somehow I think George would have found that 1974 quarter hilarious if he were alive for this 2024 release.
I agree, I Ike the vinyl and cd's in the same package
Yes, I'd probably buy more box sets if this were the case with every one.
haha the 1974 quarter. shame the most deluxe edition is missing the poster
Isn’t “Sunshine Life” on “Ringo”?
Yes.
The whole "engagement begging" trend by youtube creators is getting old and a bit cringy, but let me know what you think in the comments.
What’s wrong with asking your audience what they think?
'pushing' a CD is ridiculous. It already has over 20dB more dynamic range than an LP. Turn up the volume if you want it louder. Just saying.
I spy a U3 boxset..
Thanks Mark, will do!
I've not bought yet. CD or vinyl, what do folks think about the sound quality? Much different? Thinking of a Christmas present.
if you care about the loudness war, pick the quieter vinyl, if you don't then CD
@user-ez05ob0WqQ Thank you.
Your videos are great always. Wonderfully informed (and how!). And you know what is pertinent and what to leave out, a rare skill. .Bravo! (I have been listening to and loving the lads since 1964,, when I was eleven..)
Thank you kindly, Sir.
Be Here Now....maybe one of his five greatest imho. It just blows me away. ATMP was ruined by Spectors stupid dated wall of sound.
Thanks Bill. Glad you enjoyed it!
Hope you get your box soon and that you enjoy next week’s review.
You articulate some relevant points.
@@paulreckamp7502 Dream Away Raymond....
Thank you for the review, Andrew. This album always brings peace to my heart.
I love how the brought out George's vocals front and center and how there is a lot of clarity in the music without straying too far from the original 73 release.
I found the vinyl version of this album at a Goodwill a couple of months ago and i fell in love with it!
I don't buy vinyl either.
It's perfectly possible the Blu Ray may be released as a stand alone at a much later date - say a year or two !
Yes, dual box set, CD for everyday use and on the move. The vinyl for special occasions.
Parlogram Here Now
I agree with you about the duality of having a boxset with vinyl and CD.
(You do know that the song itself was for Ringo, and included on his self-titled album, of course.)
For those people lamenting the absence of "Deep Blue" (one of my favorite Harrison tracks), I suspect it and the "Bangla Desh" single will probably make an appearance on the eventual deluxe "Concert for Bangla Desh" package that Dhani has hinted is being worked on.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Terry.
Four great songs, rest terribly overrated
Thanks Brian. Glad you enjoyed it!
You would thought the Harrison estate would have at least had the foresight to include a small bag of lawn clippings from Friar Park for this boxed set to increase the pricepoint for the fans, amirite?
I'm surprised mediocre albums like this and Mind Games get the super deluxe treatment.
This album is VASTLY superior to Mind Games.
They should do something like Lennon's Gimme Some Thruth for George
I will not be buying this release...at least not now. I'll wait until is goes down in price on Amazon. With the exception of Give Me Love, I don't think that I play this one any further. Great video, Andrew. I did pick up Meet The Beatles on blue vinyl yesterday. The sound is nice and toasty in comparison with a mint condition copy of the 1964 release.
My favourite alternative track isnt even on this release... The Light That Has Lighted The World (Demo) from the Early Takes album is so beautiful.. Pity in some ways it wasnt included as would save me changing cd's !
Personally I don't think LITMW and almost all George albums onwards really needed a remix, but maybe Dark Horse and Gone Troppo could use some if it's possible, like, if they could improve the vocals in Dark Horse and strip-down the production of Gone Troppo, but in terms of Super Deluxe releases I'd like to see the release of alternative, the scrapped 1980 version of Somewhere in England in its original mixes and tracklisting, which we didn't get back in 2021 (which supposed to be the 40th anniversary of the album iirc?) just my 2c.
.. Terrible album imo.. what a massive let down after atmp
he loved money and helped his artistic entourage a lot with python mounts and others
