McCartney is beyond a genius in popular music. His vocal range was unthinkable. He could sing flat out like this, and then sing a ballad like “ I Will “ Amazing …
McCartney is the best Vocalist of all time!! He could sing any genre of music. Listen to “Maybe I’m Amazed “ from that tour !! He is untouchable at that time!!
You NEED to hear him sing "OH DARLING," "HELTER SKELTER," "LONG TALL SALLY," "I'M DOWN," "LADY MADONNA," "BACK IN THE U.S.S.R" when he was in the Beatles, and also these songs from this very same 1976 Wings Over America concert, "BEWARE MY LOVE," "SOILY," and "MAYBE I'M AMAZED" They are all on you tube.
Paul's singing with wings was absolute kick-ass, especially live. You need to listen to "Oh Woman Oh Why" to get the full appreciation for his range and singing ability, simply amazing!
Love all of Paul's work with the Beatles & solo with Wings. I had so many of his records. He has so many great songs such as "Band On The Run", "Jet", Live & Let Die", "Listen To What The Man Said", "Silly Love Songs", "Maybe I'm Amazed", "Let 'Em In", "My Love", "Helen Wheels", "Let Me Roll It", "Junior's Farm", "Venus & Mars/Rock Show", "Mull Of Kintyre", "With A Little Luck" etc.
Excellent additions. All great songs. It always amazes me when people are surprised when they hear Paul sing like this. He did it way back in The Beatles days, with Helter Skelter, Oh Darling, and even earlier, with the Little Richard songs, like Lucille, Long Tall Sally, and Kansas City. He is simply the best ever.
If you want to hear Paul sing like this you need to listen to some of his vocals with The Beatles. "Oh Darling" from their "Abbey Road" Lp is incredible, he let's it rip even more than on this one. "Helter Skelter" from "The White Album". Some earlier stuff like " I'm Down" from 1965. "Long Tall Sally" from 1964. Paul could belt it out with the best of them ever. Also one of the most gifted musicians ever in rock history. He played every instrument in rock bands. One of the greatest, most melodic bass players ever. One hell of a guitarist, great on any keyboard and one hell of a drummer. The most gifted musician in The Beatles and these four were all self taught musicians and all very talented. Then we have one Mr. John Lennon, this guy could shout, belt and scream it out with greatest of them. This guy may just have had the greatest voice in rock music history. He could be so gentle and heartfelt on ballads that it hits you emotionally or he could just tear it up. George Harrison was a great guitarist. He could do rockabilly with the best of them, ballads, rock and hard rock. Easily one of the most underrated guitarists in pop history. Also one hell of a bass player when pressed into action and could play some keyboards. I forgot to mention that John was one of the greatest rhythm guitarist ever, quite capable of also playing lead. More than adequate keyboard player. Played some bass and a pretty damn good harmonica player. Then we have Ringo Starr, by far the most underrated drummer in history. Just because The Beatles were never about playing drum solo's doesn't mean someone isn't a great drummer. Here's how this went down. In 1962 when John, Paul and George asked Ringo if he wanted to join the band after they fired their drummer Pete Best, John had one question for Ringo. "Do you like playing drum solo's" Ringo responded with "I hate drums solo's" and John said "You're in the band". They knew Ringo Ringo pretty well and knew he was the best drummer in Liverpool. Ringo said "I'm in" and the rest is history. Sounds too me that your not very familiar with The Beatles music catalogue of songs or their history. Both are amazing. John Lennon + Paul McCartney + George Harrison + Ringo Starr = The Beatles which = The All time GOAT'S of popular music and it ain't even close. All other claimants are pretenders to the throne. Period, end of story! One more note here. George Harrison blossomed into one hell of a song writer during The Beatles and had a great solo career. Peace ❤
You have to check out the RAM album from Wings . Vocals from Paul will amaze you, Songs like Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey and Monkberry Moon Delight .In fact the whole album is amazing.
Believe it or not, many have been sleeping on Paul McCartney for DECADES and I do mean DECADES! Insane stuff like he doesn't rock, he's soft and lightweight, just absolutely delusional remarks. McCartney is an ABSOLUTE POWERHOUSE!
There were a couple Beetles songs where Paul sounded like this. Check out "Oh, Darlin'" by the Beetles and "Maybe I'm Amazed" from his solo work after the Beetles to hear more of Paul like this. The Wings was Paul's band after the Beetles broke up. The blond lady singing the high notes is Paul's wife Linda. She later passed away from breast cancer.
You ought to listen to the album " Wings over America ". Acoustic numbers , middle of the road numbers , a few Beatles numbers and some real rock numbers. The diversity of songs over the 2 hours is amazing. The band Wings has Denny Laine from the Moody Blues and Jim McCulloch from Thunderclap Newman among others.
Sir Paul sings however TF he feels like singing when he sings it so. And it WILL be good ( ok...hes 84 now and his voice is basically gone so young fit Sir Paul). And you WILL enjoy everything from omg he ROCKS to the softest love song ever sung and everything in between. You are blessed to live in a time where he is still alive and active.
Wings was formed by Sir Paul in 1971 and lasted to 1981. They recorded many hits songs "Band on the Run", "With a Little Luck", "Silly Love Song", My Love" and "Live and Let Die (Theme from the James Bond movie of the same name)". Lady Linda the love of Sir Paul's life learned to play the keyboard, piano, percussion and provided background vocals for the band. Sadly she passed away in 1998 battling cancer.
paul mccartney is one of the greatest vocalist of all time but at the same time one of the greatest composers that's why no many ppl pay attention to his vocal
For someone who is a singer... you really need to do yourself a favor and dig deep in the Beatles catalog. Don't worry if it was a top hit. Listen to it all
He had some big hits with his Wings band after the Beatles broke up. The women is his beloved wife Linda who died of breast cancer at a fairly young age. Broke him up for a while there. I think they had 2 or 3 kids. They were young when she died. 'Band on the Run' was their big hit and it is a doozy. Really good.
Linda McCartney died in 1998, their 4 children were not young when she died. Heather was 36, Mary was 29, Stella was 27 and James was 21 at the time of their mother's death.
I also like Paul, "the man of a thousand voices" at his gritty best. Hard to begin a list but "Maybe I'm Amazed", "Beware My Love", and "Soily" off of the same tour are great starting points. (DO listen to Soily.) My favorite vocal of all time is probably "Monkberry Moon Delight" from the Ram album. But as many have mentioned, he has DOZENS of Beatles screamers as well: I'm Down, Long Tall Sally, Helter Skelter, the outro to Hey Jude...I coud go on. Not to mention some of his way more obscure later stuff. The man can scream.
This is a unique vocal for Paul... you have a good voice. Omg Paul would be stoked you put him in with Ray Charles... Paul foes have a good rocking voice. Long tall Sally, beware my love, Helter skelter, a few others
Because you weren't even born when this man was blowing! How could you know? Shit I was there from the beginning, Ed Sullivan and all 4 were genius, lightening only strikes once
SO WAS I !! I was 16/17 in 1964 when the Beatles first hit in the U.S. I attended this concert when it played in Detroit in May of 1976, which was part of his year long tour across America and the rest of the world.
Check out the version of the song from the Wings Over America album. This video is from the film Rockshow, which has songs from the 1976 Wings tour of America. There is also a 3-disk album from the same tour called Wings Over America. Though they have many of the same songs, the songs are often different versions. I find the Wings Over America, audio-only, versions to not only have much better sound quality, but are generally better performances. For example, it is really hard, and often impossible, to hear the background vocals on the Rockshow versions.
Damn I thought everyone knew Paul McCartney has one of the great soul , Rock & Roll and R & B voices ever! This is in addition to songwriting musicianship and being 1/4 of the Beatles and 1/2 Of Lennon & McCartney and a founding member of Wings. Still in his 20's or early 30's when this was recorded. Over achieve much Paul McCartney?
And "SOILY" MAYBE I'M AMAZED" both from this SAME concert video. ALSO "MONKBERRY MOON DELIGHT" from Paul's "RAM" album ( for more really "rough" vocals, "BACK IN THE USSR" (while in the Beatles), "OLD SIAM SIR" from Wings "BACK TO THE EGG" album, which is a GREAT album, by the way and there is a video for just about every song on that album AND "OH WOMAN OH WHY" from Paul's "RAM" album
And his he was on tour for a couple of weeks, he was hoarse. He's sung that song much better, one of the most under rated rock n' roll songs of all time
Oh yeah, he even did with some of his Beatles material if you sift throughout the whole catalog......this man could do it all...still is, but the voice is obviously not as strong...rightfully so.....
Get with the "Paul McCartney is God" train!!! Listen to "Oh Darling", "Long Tall Sally", "I Saw Her Standing There", "Helter Skelter", "Soily"(live video), "Live and Let Die", "I'm Down", "Hey Jude", etc., etc. and so on!! PM is amazing vocalist!
Just one generation later and they don't know how great a singer Paul is. Unbelievable.
2 generations
It's Paul, he could do anything.
@@justiceforjamespaulmccartney spotted in the wild your my favorite schizophrenic
Yup. The man of a thousand voices. In his prime there was absolutely nothing he couldn’t do. That’s why he’s the best.
I have never understood why he never ranks higher in "top 100 voices" Type lists.

@@carolynrabbani6469 I never understood that either, he can do so many things with his voice
This is Billy. Paul died in 1966.
I heard that James Brown once said that Paul McCartney was the only white man with soul.
Is that so? Whatever.
@@nonrepublicratMcCartney is popular in the black community, just look at Silly Love Songs
Paul does it all. From hard rock to lullabies. He’s so diverse. None of his songs are the same. They are all so different.
Paul's voice was at its absolute peak during this 1976 tour and general time period, in my opinion.
McCartney is beyond a genius in popular music. His vocal range was unthinkable. He could sing flat out like this, and then sing a ballad like “ I Will “ Amazing …
Check out the bass line in "I Will" It's not a guitar......it's Paul's voice.
McCartney is the best Vocalist of all time!!
He could sing any genre of music. Listen to “Maybe I’m Amazed “ from that tour !!
He is untouchable at that time!!
In 1964, John Lennon asked Paul how he sang like this... Paul said I don't know... It just comes out of the top of my head.
He is the singer of a thousand voices.
Now you know! Paul can sing in many different styles and do it all very very well.
“Maybe I’m Amazed” live is my favorite and he belts in that one too!
Yeah. Its an amazing song.
Im a 58 yo man and i tear up whenever i listen to it. We have all loved someone like that.

Paul McCartney is a gift to the world
He could sing anything. Any.Thing.
Well, the Beatles didnt become the most influential and famous band of all time without being amazingly talented.
Paul never needed a teacher,he's born gifted, 😂
You never heard Oh Darling with the Beatles? Those are some next level vocals right there!!
Monkberry Moon Delight
@@stephensmith1343 He really channelled Screamin' Jay Hawkins on that one - McCartney must be the only other singer in the world that could do that.
