mr grack encouraging you through your bowl of porridge was the most wholesome thing omg. also the salt in oats is just to bring out flavour, even if you're eating it with sweet toppings, the same way adding salt to cakes and baked goods makes them more flavourful.
Ice made in a home freezer can absorb odors from other items in the freezer, while ice made in an ice maker is never exposed to anything that can contaminate the ice, and they always filter/purify the water they use. You can make better ice at home by using filtered/purified water and putting your ice trays inside ziplock bags in the freezer.
Usually I like vlogmas and have been a silent viewer for *years* , but I kinda miss the content in this years session.... Like - what do you usally do on a daily basis, Grace? Would you like to share what you're planning for the future or next year? What are your thoughts on your house, on moving out, on ... anything really? I feel like there is a lot you could do/ talk about, take us and your cam for a walk outside - have a little chat to catch up maybe?
The comment I was looking for! Would love to see more chatty lifestyle vlogs like she used to do instead of cooperations and special trips to special locations...
As a Scottish person I make porage with water and a pinch of salt. Serve into my bowl then poor on milk the porage will float like an island in the milk. Sprinkle on some sugar. Don’t mix, cut into the edge of the portage island with your spoon and eat. Yummmmm
You know those looong, boring days between Christmas and new years? You've inspired me to spend the time deep cleaning the house rather then be bored 😄
I don't know the difference between British porridge oats and American oatmeal but oatmeal has been a favorite of mine since childhood. These days in retirement I make it most mornings. 1/2 cup quick cooking oatmeal, 1 cup water. Bring the water to boil, add oatmeal and boil for one minute. Add one tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1/3 cup raisins (more or less. I don't actually measure this stuff, just add it in until it looks right,) and two cups of blueberries. If it doesn't look moist enough or if I'm feeling fancy, dribble in a bit of milk to make it as creamy as you fancy. Love this stuff and feel virtuous by telling myself that it's good for me. 😊
It so nice to lie down after a full day and relax watching Grack. Thank you for the huge work you’re putting in to gift us so much new content! I appreciate it a lot. But I don’t and I won’t expect it - every time when a new vlog goes up, I feel surprised, like receiving an extra treat. Thank you, Grace! 💛
Yes we would love a clean with me, such good motivation 😂 and just satisfying to watch. I love your vlogmas and your gratitude for the small things ❤xx
one thing i do that really helps with drying washing is put the clothes horse (i have 2 of the tall ones like you have) next to a radiator and get an old fitted sheet & put it over the back of the radiator and over the clothes. you wouldn’t believe how warm it gets in there!!
17:12 You can get one of those covers, so if there is an accident you remove the cover and wash it and your microwave is still clean❤ IKEA still has them and they’re not expensive.
Season's Greetings Grace and all the Gracketts! Grace, I saw a TikToker pour some of the Simmer Pot in a spray bottle; to use as an Air Freshener.🍊 I'm going to try the Lemon in Microwave hack and the Simmer Pot.
First term can be so tough if you're in a course with a lot of people 😢 keep the head up, you'll meet people and make friends for sure! If it's hard to meet people in your course, clubs and societies can be such a good way to meet people. Good luck and keep your head up ❤❤
Hi Grace, I’m also on my oats journey and I really don’t like them cooked, so I tried overnight oats. I put oats, coconut milk, chia seeds and a mashed banana and put it in the fridge overnight in a jar. It was amazing and I am eating it frequently now 💗if you end up liking it, there are so many fun recipes to try
Try some frozen berries as well ... they defrost "overnight" and are delicious in the oats with the banana ... sprinkle with some seeds and chopped nuts, maybe swirl in some peanut butter.
Try making the porridge with cinnamon and brown sugar and add walnuts and raisins and a dash of milk. It's very comforting and warm on a cold winter morning.
I grew up eating porridge with salt and water and used to love it, saltier the better and now as an adult love salty food. Jesses ham looked soooo good 😍
I've always used water to cook oats, I like a little chew so I don't overcook it. A little bit of cinnamon and brown sugar it it is like a delicious cookie!
Lovely video, thank you Grace. Best wishes to your sister; I hope she is feeling well. I am curious about why you do not have a two in one washer/dryer...You can also get a drying rack that lowers from the ceiling, then pulls back up with the clothes. The heat rises in the house and the clothes are out of the way and closer to the heat.
I get "Jumbo Oats" from ASDA, they taste far nicer and the texture isn't sloppy like rice pudding and it's less dusty. + oat milk and a dash of cinnamon. Left over night to soak. That's my favourite! ♥
I want to love porridge too. This morning I made steel cut/pin head oats and I liked the texture a lot better. Still had to choke it down but we’ll get there Grace. 😊
I'm waiting on the Crimpit Wrap version. Cant wait to try it. Been looking on their Facebook page & there's so many ideas! I've seen pastry being used in both gadgets but especially the wrap version to make pastys.
I never used to like oats either, then I started adding so many things in it like nuts seed’s bananas dark chocolate peanut butter etc and now I really like it and it keeps me full for hours
Dear Grack, Congratulations on your pesistance with porridge. I recently learned to like marmite after years of trying and finding it just not it. Now I look forward to all the ways I can incorporate it into my snacks. I'm here to say it can be done!
For the oats porridge cook in water with a pinch of salt and cook slowly. Then add some sugar, butter and milk at the end. Oh..when cooking the oats add a cinnamon stick. It will make it taste Christmassy!🎉🎉
I use milk in my porridge, I have also used carnation milk, cream & added a creamer powder. I love the creamy taste. I add salt as I saw my parents do it (English with Scottish roots).
Traditional Scots way is water and salt for porridge.Thats how my Grandfather used to eat it. I’m a Scot and I make it with half water, half milk and brown sugar in a layer over the top. Its epic.
As a higlander or break my heart when I nee fol say they don’t like porridge. 1:2 oats to water and a big pinch of salt. I have mine with peanut butter and dates and maybe dark chocolate if I’m feeling fancy (I call it Snickers porridge)
Grace just had oats with peanut butter and chocolate! That's what got her through! Do you cut up the dates or do you cook them til they dissolve in the oats?
Oats are definitely better with water, even though it goes against all reason! Also always add a bit of salt even if it’s sweet, it’s the same effect as with salted caramel - salt just lifts the flavour. In fact I often have my porridge with just salt and butter. Liver, sadly, I can’t get into.
Loving all the Christmas content Grace!!🫶🫶 Porridge suggestion: cook with water and a pinch of salt, low and slow! Mix in some mashed banana or grated apple. Top with dark choc, fruit, nuts/seeds, yoghurt (the best topping!!), peanut butter, jam etc… alllll the toppings☺️
I think the order is oils then lotions bc oils are typically lighter than lotions. This should go for any part of the body you can use oils and lotions on.
Try mixing banana and berries or stewed apple and cinnamon into the porridge as you cook it! makes the texture less claggy. Then always top with choc chips 👌
My grandma always makes her oats really thick using water, almost could be an oatmeal cookie and you definitely need to chew it. Grandma says “it’s needs to be thick enough to stick to your ribs/bones” to be substantial and filling. That’s the way I prefer it and I don’t like the texture when it’s runnier. Maybe experiment with making it at different thicknesses to see if that helps your texture issue. I like adding maple syrup and some jam, some fresh fruit too and sometimes coconut or pumpkin seeds. I also like baked oats that have an egg in them to make them, again, like an oatmeal cookie thickness with a streusel or crumb topping (not the healthiest but a nice treat). Good luck 🍀 on your adventure to liking oats! Hope you find a recipe you like
for oatmeal you really need to test different amounts of water (i always use water as well) i personally like a little less water then called for and i add some brown sugar for taste but chocolate can be yummy too
Loving your content as always Grace - I'm down with some sort of plague (not the rona, but onto week 3 of a dose) and not sleeping cos I'm on high dose steroids. You're keeping me company in the early hours, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it! Although I did actually manage to watch this one at a normal hour 🎉🎉🎉
@@jonap5740 apparently not - sinus infection that turned into laryngitis that turned into bronchiolitis. This dose is unfortunately like the gift that keeps on giving! Hope your friends are over the worst.
The simmer pot is a good idea. I read a good way to get rid of cooking odours like fish etc was to simmer a dish washing tablet in a pan, but this idea sounds a lot more natural!
hi, just concerning your disliking fresh pasta, why not try first quick-boiling the tortellini and then crisping them up in the air fryer/oven/sauce pan with a touch of crumbled parmesan so they get crispy with a crispy parmesan outer layer. please try! :) merry xmas !
The ice you buy will be nice filtered water (like bottled water) the stuff you make with tap water at home won't taste as good because the water down south is hard water and not as nice tasting
Try soaking the oats in some boiling hot water about 5 minutes or more than put it on the hop and add more water and keep cooking. You can add about 100ml milk near the end.
Grace I understand totally how you feel about oats porridge. I always gag when I have to eat it. It's as if it's getting stuck in my throat.nis so gelatonis.
I hated porridge too, until I randomly craved it when I was pregnant and I still like it now even after I had the baby. It was one of the few foods I hated. Used to not like honey then I got a taste for it when I had covid. Maybe I'm weird 😂
have you ever considereded burning frankincense to make your house smell nice. its common practice in arab and some asian households. its called bahoor
We call it oatmeal here and I cannot stomach to eat it either. I love oat cookies and oat bars but I just cannot stand the texture of it warm and liquidy! What is the name of the Instagram where you are finding the list of items to clean? Love that idea!

You can buy ice cube trays with lids. That stops all the odour issues
Hi. You can also put an open box of baking soda in the freezer. That might absorb some of the odours.

It was so nice to hear Mr. Grack encouraging you to finish your breakfast. Way to go Grace! You conquered Mt. Porridge 🎉🎉🎉!

You need to get a dehumidifier!! It'll make your clothes dry so fast, they're so cheap to run and they make the air feel and smell fresher!
Try making the porridge with cinnamon and brown sugar and add walnuts and raisins and a dash of milk. It's very comforting and warm on a cold winter morning.
Plain porridge cooked with milk plus raw sugar and cinnamon on top 🤤
I feel so inspired after watching this so thank you and I will try the thing that makes your house smell nice

Traditional Scots way is water and salt for porridge.Thats how my Grandfather used to eat it. I’m a Scot and I make it with half water, half milk and brown sugar in a layer over the top. Its epic.
Yes I love this, I'm the sane I try different brands of foods to see if I can find one I like. Ketchup and salmon are a struggle. Well done you 👏

Here’s a tip for anyone that hates cleaning their microwave: buy a microwave splatter cover. Trust me, you’ll never look back lol

Cook it with banana cut up in it. It gets so creamy. It just becomes part of it. Bit of Salt adds to sweetness.

The drysoon is honestly gamechanging. Pro tip is to run a dehumidifier too. Whole load dry in less than 3 hours and both so cheap to run
Sounds like a woodshop is nearby.

If you’re a yogurt girlie, try oats with yogurt berries and some crunchy granola, it’s been my favorite way to get myself to enjoy it
I always get sooo excited for your vlogmas videos!!!❤🎄❤🥰

totally try spiced rice porridge, you might prefer the texture
I'm the same with porridge. There is nothing inherently wrong with the taste but it makes me gag at every mouth full. I always try to like it!
