    When she was a young girl, I took my late daughter up in a glider VERY similar in design concept to this one. Your editing, between onboard video and external footage, gave me chills - it was that reminiscent of the actual flight! Exquisite coverage; thank you!

    I got very worried on the base to final turn because of the wingtip clearance but the pilot handled it like a pro. Just a gorgeous aircraft. I fly full size Sailplanes and I know how hard it is to fly such a long wing. Well done and congratulations.

    Wow. Just wow. I wish I could be small enough to fit inside the cockpit of the glider. Watching this is like a dream.
    Long wingspan = low induced drag. Short wing chord = low Reynolds number, and hence laminar flow over the wings, producing little drag. Very neat design. Thank you for sharing :-)

    I wasn't sure if the plane was able to perform efficiently with such a large wingspan, as it looked almost on the verge of folding under it's own weight... But I guess there is much more for me to learn from others who have more experience with sailplanes of this scale....! I applaud the pilot for his expertise, and hope to see, and learn more about these massive birds of this scale...! Thank you for sharing this video with us...

    • @jessedabo

      That's exactly how the wings & wingspan of a glider is. The outrageous length is actually where its kind of vehicle gains efficiency from.

  • @GaryMCurran
    @GaryMCurran 7 лет назад +6

    This is amazing! The detail inside the cockpit is great, too, the sliding vent windows, the pilot's microphone, and even the straps for the mannequins.
    I think if I was flying this, I would look for three cameras that transmit real time video so that you could have a forward looking view from the cockpit and one to either side. Also, replace the forward looking tail camera with one that transmits data. Finally, and I have no idea if anyone makes one, a variometer that can send data to the ground.
    One last thing, an airplane that size, I thought the Wilga that was towing it was the real thing, at first! At 15+m, that's one big airplane!

    Really amazing! I wonder where the rear camera is mounted, because it seems to be over the rudder in the back, but the T shape stabilizer is not visible!? How's that?

    Why does the sailplane have its spoilers out under tow? My guess is it's so much more efficient than the Wilga towplane, it needs the spoilers out so it doesn't catch up and outclimb its own tow!

    The flex on them wings. Wow. Makes my Radian XL look silly. I would love to just have one flight, on a glider like this. In my dreams.

      The real thing flexes like that as well. And if you want to fly a glider, head out to your local glider club - I'm sure they have trial flights for cheap, and it's the most fun you can have with your pants on :).

    Interesting to see the speed brakes deployed whilst under tow initially, perhaps too much lift whilst under tow?

    I don't get it. 15 m is the span of a standard class glider that you can fly yourself.

      As expensive as these models are its still a lot less than the real thing, some of us can't get a medical anymore, and it's just as challenging as the real thing to do well. 😎
