The Committee heard evidence that Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent across the population and the report recommends that public health measures are established to address that deficiency. These public health measures are preventative in nature and are recommended to reduce the risk of respiratory and other illnesses such as osteoporosis.
1 That daily Vitamin D supplementation of 20-25µg/day should be recommended to the entire adult population as a public health measure,
higher doses recommended for vulnerable groups under medical supervision.
2 That a public health policy, which promotes better knowledge of the benefits of Vitamin D, and which encourages Vitamin D supplementation, should be developed in time for consideration in Budget 2022.
3 That reducing the cost of Vitamin D supplementation, in order to promote its uptake, should be considered.
4 That specific measures need to be put in place for vulnerable groups, and for frontline and healthcare workers,
so that Vitamin D supplementation is administered on an opt-out basis,
and for the duration of this pandemic, people should be offered Vitamin D supplements when presenting at Covid-19 test centres.

Well done Dr Campbell for reporting this. Really important report. I live in Ireland and, my former GP from South Africa, had a large sign on his surgery door stating that all Irish people should take vitamin D supplements every day between October and May. Dr Campbell has been on the ball on this issue right from the beginning.

I researched vitamin D3 a decade ago and educated myself on its benefits and my need to supplement with it due to the long winters where I live and lack of sunshine and the fact with the exception of my face all other skin was covered.
In 2013 began supplementing with 5000 iu daily. Then in 2015 increased dosage to 10000 iu November thru April and 5000 iu May thru October.
Since 2018 have taken 10000 iu year around. Have had 0 respiratory issues since I began taking D3 in 2013. Starting in 2014 made a lifestyle change with regard to my health and personal well-being in which I lost 80 lbs going from 250 down to 170lbs.
Completely changed what, how much and when I eat. Strength train and run on a regular basis. My health from that point has been my number 1 priority and will be for the rest of my life. I control what I have control over and don't worry about what I have no control over. I don't worry about what might happen but I deal with things when they do happen. Personal Responsibility is key to one's life.

For example he was proudly bragging about the number of vaccines given. The Eu had exportet 77mio doses.
      Britain had exportet Z E R O.
Campbell in APril 2020: "When the vaccine will be availiable, we must give it to the whole world"
Campbell in April 2020 ah look at the EU. we are far more ahead."
Problem: Not only has Britan done huge unethical behaviour, HE IS EVEN PROUD ABOUT IT. Bugger, god bugger, what a dear sorryful wit.
Greatest hit: 14mio Doses of AstraZeneca were secretly held back in a AZ factory in Italy.
This behaviour, to hold back medicine for people is so unethical. HE never lost a word about it.
His Dogs Name is named after Churchill. Could you imagine any more nationalism?
WEll. I am happy, that high morale counts in the EU. the EU keeps exporting. The EU also has stated that YOU CAN NOT get blackmailed by the pharma industry and drive the price up by fighting for the vaccine.
Instead the price must be WITHIN ETHICAL LIMITS.
Result: The number of vaccines will be the same, only a stupid fight amongst states will be avoided.
      I am not only extremely, E X T R E M E L Y disappointed, by this Nurse Teacher.
I am so disappointet, that a dude with a low IQ mades BOLDEST statements and then brakes his own, low morale and is proud about it.
      It is inside himself.
Meanwhile: HE got vaccinated with the superior BioNtech vaccine, whilst my girlfriend had HUGE pain for 4 daiys, 39C temperature. and as we all know: high risk of thrombosis.
Yet this guy is saying how good the "english vaccine" is.
Sorry guy. If you talk about disease, you msut be a good human. If you talk about death, there is no margin for mationalism.
BUt consideren MIllions of doses held back in italy, you are FULLY out of it.
You can never ever re-establish your sorryful attitude and your lowstandards. learn maths before you talk about statistics. and get your friggin English exceptionalism out of your mind. the EU is a peace project, not the thing the Brits are doing today, or did in the past...
This is about medicine, not about which government needs the most vaccines to cover their mess. (150.000 deaths, far more than any other EU country ... ) pretty exceptional.
at least, learn about reality. we dont care about you. you have shown taht you support the true face Britain is showing to the world. and they are getting whopped by any country right now.
and risk the Good Friday Agreement fornot losing out on the promise they couldnt keep.
geting in trouble with the USA.

From Kansas USA - Dr Campbell, you’re an absolute inspiration by teaching the public about the positive effects of Vitamin-D. You are clear and your thoughts on the positive effects of Vitamin-D are so encouraging. I’m a 67 year old female with Lupus, Hashimoto, Osteopenia and depression (yes that’s a number of medical conditions) and take 4,000 IU of Vitamin-D daily which has done incredible miracles for me. I’m an avid mountain biker as well and still biking with energy and I’m the oldest female member in my local Mountain biking group. I truly believe that Vitamin-D has assisted in giving me the strength and has put a wrench in the debilitation of Systemic Lupus, as well as the other medical conditions noted. I wish that the Institute of Medicine (IOS) (US) would be transparent by encouraging through advertisements to the public, to take 4,000 IU of Vitamin-D. I depend on International medical sources like the EFSA and the SACN to obtain information as they’re more “transparent.” Maybe the U.S. Pharmaceutical companies do not encourage this type of information as it would hurt their wallets. I just started listening to your Clips and was fascinated by the latest clip regarding the Indian Variant (Covid-19). Thank you for taking your personal dedicated time to spread the news to the public. The Irish government is truly transparent and I admire them very much. May the Force be with You…Des

John, you may have been indirectly influential in this Irish initiative yourself. Your eloquence on the subject - and yours alone, you were a lone voice as far as I was concerned - led me to write last November to two of my local TDs (Irish MPs) Simon Harris and Stephen Donnelly (past and present Ministers for Health as it happens). Here's what I wrote:
"Studies are now extremely clear that vitamin D deficiency is a huge contributor to the covid problem, both in terms of likelihood of infection and likelihood of hospitalisation. Why aren’t you rolling out a national programme of supplementation? Followed up by testing every individual to check levels and giving more supplements if necessary? Vitamin D is pretty cheap and can be taken in mega doses without fear of toxicity, but its cost is peanuts if it meant the economy could be opened a bit more."
My words, but not my expertise. The expertise is yours John. You may have a greater influence than you know.

The RIVM or our government has never ever said that being healthy is a very good way to prevent a more severe or at least cope with covid-19. All they say is sit still. And if you get infected, take some paracetamol. You don't even get it prescribed.

    • @SteveRCPilot
      @SteveRCPilot 3 года назад +4

Canada is hopelessly devoted to political correctness. It is not politically correct to say that an individuals condition of health is their own responsibility. You can't tell an overweight person they are overweight because they ate too many cakes. And you can't say that people of different races have different health considerations to make regarding personal health because you can only say that all races are human beings and therefore are all the same which is patently false. The Canadian government just says don't worry about your health we will look after you and jab you with a vaccine so you can stay inside watching Netflix ordering bags of skittles from Amazon right to your door so you never have to go for a walk or get sunshine or fresh air at all. Telling people to take vitamins get fresh air and sunshine exercise and eat healthy whole foods is just makes too much damn sense people wouldn't believe it. They would rather scream discrimination and take a highly questionable vaccine jab than take any personal responsibility.

I have been sending vitamin d reports etc. to Health Units, MP's, MPP's, Ministers of Health, the Premier of Ontario and the BLM organization for over a year and have not received a decent reply from any of them. No one seems to be interested in improving health. The human body can look after itself if given the proper nutrients but there does not seem to be one nutritionist advising any government in the country. I think the Indonesians were one of the first to investigate why over 80 percent of the people had no problems with Covid and 20 percent had more issues. Their conclusion, low vitamin d. The rest of the world seems to have ignored this research and suffered the consequences. It won't necessarily keep you from getting Covid but it seems likely it will keep you out of the hospital and that has been the objective all along. I think there are some studies that seem to indicate that you get a better immune response from a vaccine if your vitamin d levels are adequate.

"... and I hope this was helpful." - It MOST CERTAINLY IS HELPFUL! Thank you Dr.Campbell! What you said about accountability and governance, cannot be said enough - absolutely right.
Well done Ireland. Why is England always the last to realise good ideas? That is so disappointing.
Several years ago, working about 45 hours per week and commuting (underground) another 16 hours per week for literally decades, I rarely saw sunshine. I also have caring responsibilities, and any spare time I had over the weekend I was catching up on my sleep. By that time, my VitD levels were very low indeed, classed as "defficient", I was constantly catching colds and feeling down. My GP put me on VitD, only for it to be taken away after a year. I checked with my GP again, he tested my VitD levels - I was no longer defficient, but was still "insufficient", however, the GP said that according to NHS, I no longer needed Vitamin D supplements. Like a fool, I believed that NHS knew what they were doing and did not invest in Vitamin D supplements. What a mistake!
Anyway, about 8 or 9 months ago, I realised that Vitamin D could help improve my chances and started supplementing with Vitamin D (also C, Zinc, Magnesium and occasionally a tablet of Selenium). I always take them with food.
Should I consider multivitamins? I really don't know. I always assumed that if I ate healthy home cooked food, that I'd be getting adequate levels of all vitamins and minerals. But we really don't know how much mineral and vitamin content is actually present in our food, because of industrialised food production methods. I'm now making kefir at home - a wonderful discovery, similar to yoghurt, but tastes much nicer. Also, my Bokashi composting bin arrived this morning, and I'm planning to dedicate a part of my garden to drowing a few choice herbs and vegetables. When I say "choice", I actually mean "easy to grow". Parsley, mint, coriander, radishes and maybe onions and leeks... Hopefully, they'll have some good vitamin and mineral content.
Public Health England really need to get their finger out.

      "Dangerous dose"?
      To be determined.
      I went with 50mcg 2000iu.
Shortly after, the dangerous dose was generally accepted to be "over 10,000iu"
As a "tall unit" (6'4"/1.93m) I figured that considering build/ weight, I could easily tolerate 4000iu without testing.
