"Are you a ghost, too?" "I'm a ghost with the most, babe." Fun Fact: Michael Keaton, playing the title character, only appears in 14.5 minutes of the film. Music Enthusiast Fact: Tim Burton feared the Day-O (1956) by Harry Belafonte sequence wouldn't go over well, since in his opinion it wasn't very funny. He turned out to be wrong, audiences loved it and think of it as one of the film's most iconic scenes. Parapsychology Foreshadowing Fact: At the dinner party, Otho (Glenn Shadix) states that people who commit suicide end up as "civil servants" in the afterlife. This is actually expanded on in the film. The civil servant ghosts that Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) meet are people who appear to have ended their own lives. The receptionist (Patrice Martinez) says she committed suicide, there is a man who hanged himself, and the crushed messenger (Carmen Filpi) is implied to have done it to himself. Juno (Sylvia Sidney) looks normal, but there are scars on her neck that indicate she cut her own throat. Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) is said to have been a civil servant and Juno's assistant; it was going to be explained in the film that he hanged himself (incompetently and very painfully), due to heartbreak. While this was cut out of the film for running time purposes, it is hinted when Beetlejuice is surprised at Lydia (Winona Ryder) wishing to die.
As a kid, this was one of the movies we had on a VHS tape (recorded off of HBO I believe) that we would watch over and over again during the summer while we were left unattended all day.
My favorite bit in the movie (aside from The Banana Boat Song scene): Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Ah. Well...I attended Juilliard. I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through The Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen The Exorcist about *167 times, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT!!!! NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY!!!!* Now what d'ya think? Ya think I'm qualified?"
Great reaction like always, love this movie for me its Tim Burton’s best work! There are some fun-facts about it. The title character is named for a bright red star in the constellation of Orion, Betelgeuse. Although the character's true name is Betelgeuse, it was spelled "Beetlejuice" in the title because it's funnier and markets better. The football players bothering Juno are a reference to the 1970 crash of Southern Airways Flight 932, which took the lives of thirty-seven players of the Marshall University football team, along with eight of the coaching staff and twenty-five boosters. While the Marshall school colors are green and white, the team is wearing red uniforms. Michael McDowell screenwriter wasn’t really interested in making a comedy. His script was much less comedic and decidedly darker. The death of the Maitlands was graphically depicted, and Betelgeuse (this is his actual name, let’s not forget) is less impish and more, well, murderous. The Deetzes also had a younger daughter who Betelgeuse attacks in the form of a rabid squirrel in the film’s climax. And the movie was supposed to end with Lydia dying! Here's what Producer Larry Wilson said in a interview “Our first ending was Lydia she died in a fire and was able to join Barbara and Adam in the afterlife. A couple of people said to us, ‘Do you really think that’s a good idea? Is that really the message you want to be sending to the teenagers of the world? Die in a fire?’ So, yeah, it probably was darker.” So they change it, to the dance scene. Keep up the good work.
OH MY🤭OH MY, OH MY!!!😂I don't think Toni is gonna 'Like' Betelgeuse himself🤐but Hopefully the rest of the Movie is NOT too 'Weird' for Her!🙏Either way, this should be a FUN time tonight...👍
SANDWORMS, BEETLE JUICE HATES SANDWORMS... THAT'S WHAT THAT IS. I REMEMBER AS A KID THE SANDWORMS MENTIONED MANY TIMES BY BEETLE JUICE AND THOSE WERE THE CARTOONS BEFORE THE MOVIE CAME OUT.
Oh Toni...some of the things you say.. leaves me on the floor rolling lol🤣🤣11:21 Toni has got to be your BEST REACTION I'VE SEEN. Filmed in a small town in Vermont. It's a fun movie. I'm writing that my name is Josh and i've been reading online that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will have an official 4K HD digital release on Tuesday October 8, 2024. the digital release will also include special features including a second version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with an audio commentary by Tim Burton. that means that everybody can do first time watching videos for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice beginning on Tuesday October 8, 2024. I can confirm that there won't be deleted or extended scenes to be included on the 4K Bluray and DVD release on Tuesday November 19, 2024. that might be the exact same day that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice becomes available to stream on MAX.
Great as always guys❤ ... Went to see Beetle juice Beetle juice .... Not as good as the first one .... Starts off slow but picks up especially when Michael Keaton starts his stuff.. Jenna Ortega is also good.. Winona is a bit off... New characters are unnecessary... But me and my daughters enjoyed it😊
@@kevmodee1866 Michael Keaton is obviously the highlight even with the little screentime he has. I dont know what they did to the Lydia character but she is nothing like the first movie. The movie is good but the first one is better IMO.
Maybe not to review due to the truth and depth of the documentary film. And it will be tears galore. But... "dear zachary a letter to a son about his father"... Is something everyone should watch once in their life. And it's free on RUclips. Be warned. It's heartbreaking.
This is from my teen years and I have to say, I didn’t like it then or now, it’s just not funny to me and it’s a shame as I enjoy all the actors in it. I do enjoy most Tim Burton movies, especially Edward Scissor Hands.
I *HATE* this movie, and only watched for Toni's reaction. She said it was _fun,_ but she didn't say she liked it, and I thought she looked confused and disinterested at points. Disappointed she didn't say she didn't like it (although she didn't say she did either).
@@sophiecooper1824 Sophie it's not the movies fault. But it is common knowledge that Jones is a convicted child sex offender. I don't know how people can still watch any movies with him in it knowing this.
The sequel was ok but nowhere near as good as this.... the plot was paper thin and it suffered from the tail end of the "woke" affliction that has blighted hollywood and entertainment in general....
@sophiecooper1824 without going into plot details, one aspect of the woke era that's nearly gone now is the selection of one specific demograph to be either a)dumb or stupid or b) evil or bad.... because of this, when we watch a show or movie from the past 8 years or so, despite the writers trying to disguise the "baddie" or baddies, it can be predicted from the very start... thereby ruining any twists or suspense.... in this movie there were 2 of this particular demograph and despite the movie trying to paint one as an absolute lovely person, I predicted they would turn out bad, which they did.... only the main girls father was depicted as particularly good (but then I realised he ticked a certain box and so I predicted he would remain good, which he did).
"Attention K-Mart Shoppers"😂
The guy at the dinner table with the red hair and the one that called her a flake that’s Dick Cavett he was a talk show host for quite a few years.

Aww!! Get Toni her ice cream!!!
You should do a Tim Burton theme with:
Edwards Scissorhands
Big Fish
Sleepy Hollow
We'll see what we can do!

This was Tim Burton's second movie! His directorial debut was Pee Wee's Big Adventure!
This was the movie that solidified his unique personal style!
Catherine O’Hara is 70 now, she was also in the Christopher Guest films. Waiting For Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind…
Don't forget. Tim Burton also directed Sleepy Hollow

Are you going to do Beetlejuice 2?
The father will not be back in the new one… because no studio will touch him after he was charged with pedophilia-related crimes.
