Hey there, glad to see I wasn't the only one with the problems of the troops attitudes. It really bothered me seeing the way that the Kasrkin were portrayed. I've been playing the guard since 7th edition as the Cadians are my favorite faction. As for what the Kasrkin have, they use the Hot-shot Las gun.
The dark heart of 40k would be a good story to explore in something like an open world RPG = 40k Starfield? But not in a beer & pretzels shooter! The best Heresy novels explore that side of 40k much better than the 40k ones funnily enough. With the representation stuff... 40k is in a long line of stories made to appeal to boys, from an era when cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians and running around shooting each other wasn't 'problematic'. It's basically the same thing as the King Arthur books and ww1 and 2 stories our dads, grandads and great grandads enjoyed. I don't see anything wrong with that? As long as it isn't setting out to deliberately offend anyone, which it never has. The main problem I see with making everything political is it pushes away people who would otherwise be allies because they feel judged.
@@GrumpyGrognardGaming Looking forward to it mate. I'm getting grumpier and grognardier by the week these days :P Be interested to hear your take, because I wonder how much of our perspective on this stuff is related to our age.
Apart from the strong female i would consider it a "normal" War Story. There are dozens of Movies with heroic Deeds that turn out to be completely worthless in the end. That's why I like the game Memoir 44, which depicts the confusion of War very well.
As we said, if it had just been the waste of life i absolutely would have given it a pass. But the munitorum destroying it when it hadn't been unloaded was such a stupid concept.
@@YOGI-kb9tg Please link to this lore as I've never heard of that. The Imperium is restrained or even near-crippled by bureaucracy yes, but it's military machine is not incompetent. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that willfully destroying munitions and arms required for an active warzone, especially one that is local, is sedition at best and heresy at worst. If Humanity were that wastful and useless there's no way they'd have a galaxy-spanning empire, nevermind having one for 10,000 years.
When you say female space marines is a hard no, is that retconned female space marines? or GW deciding that whatever space marines come along after or later in the primaris wave can be either gender?
i fully expect the latter, i've lost most investment in 40K so that's not something i worry about. The idea of a full retcon ala Female Custodes terrifies me. Either way it would be a lore change i would not approve of.
@@GrumpyGrognardGaming I have no real feelings about future female space marines. Going from human to space marine is clearly scifi chicanery so I see no real reason that the same chicanery can't make women as fast/strong as men (women are highly competitive with men in ultra endurance events). The only advantage lore wise is men can't get pregnant so no risk of weird space marine babies, but all that requires is a clarification that space marines (men + women) can't have babies. I agree that a full retcon is a bad idea.

aaaah, nice one, thanks for the confirmation.

Oddly enough that very subject is covered in the next episode of CHEBS which should be up later today!

Glad i don't have a Warhammer+ subscription really, this kind of bland, safe, predictable writing is what we can continue to expect from them really.
Cancelled mine, line cut, all done. Just not worth it unless you want the free model.
Is it free if you have a yearly sub?
