I reckon a lot of the recent issues around gender in fandoms comes back to Gamergate and that's why creators are trying to broaden things out in Star Wars, warhammer etc. I reckon what they miss is that most male fans don't care about any of that stuff and actually aren't misogynist and don't mind if there are women in their hobby. They just want it to stay good, and not get all changed up on a whim to suit someone's ideology. Otherwise like you say, it's perfectly normal for women and men to have different interests. It's down to preference right not exclusion. Example - how many women have read Winston Churchill's 7 volume history of the war? :P probably not many, but that doesn't make it sexist

The dark heart of 40k would be a good story to explore in something like an open world RPG = 40k Starfield? But not in a beer & pretzels shooter! The best Heresy novels explore that side of 40k much better than the 40k ones funnily enough. With the representation stuff... 40k is in a long line of stories made to appeal to boys, from an era when cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians and running around shooting each other wasn't 'problematic'. It's basically the same thing as the King Arthur books and ww1 and 2 stories our dads, grandads and great grandads enjoyed. I don't see anything wrong with that? As long as it isn't setting out to deliberately offend anyone, which it never has. The main problem I see with making everything political is it pushes away people who would otherwise be allies because they feel judged.

Hey there, glad to see I wasn't the only one with the problems of the troops attitudes. It really bothered me seeing the way that the Kasrkin were portrayed. I've been playing the guard since 7th edition as the Cadians are my favorite faction. As for what the Kasrkin have, they use the Hot-shot Las gun.

Apart from the strong female i would consider it a "normal" War Story. There are dozens of Movies with heroic Deeds that turn out to be completely worthless in the end. That's why I like the game Memoir 44, which depicts the confusion of War very well.

As much as i hated this when the codex came out. I dont mind it as much anymore. The fact shes a female custodian doesnt change much. Shes still a perfectly done custodian. And as much as i dont like my fav faction getting a big lore retcon like this. I can live with it cause if she hadnt spoken at the start id have no idea it was a female custodian till the helmet came off.

A custode could be a ork, too.

ICv2 came out with AoS at 4th most popular for Spring 2024. Skaventide came out in Fall. So it seems unlikely that Skaventide flopped at all. Especially when all of those websites have similar discounts for other products.

The sister of battle are female space marine and the sister of silence are female custodes. If they wanted to put genetically modified women, he would have to put a new class in the Battle Sisters and the Imperial Guard. I will not be surprised if he puts trans content.

My group does not care anymore. My group (33 people) just left GW products and are playing different games. This does not help.
