i think its great that you and Ralphie spend so much time together fixing old cars and tending to farm animals hes a lucky young man and you must be a proud father to have such great young students to teach the worlds lessons to.
I get all my MECAHICAL skills from my mother. Kid you not. She was handy. My dad was not handy AT ALL. He could clean a firearm, however. He taught me how to do that when I was 10 years old.
How can you not appreciate a guy who works on cars with his kid (changing the shift ball….go get’um Ralph!), a daughter with the baby goat and mom video taping? Great site! Those old Chrysler slant 6’s…..you couldn’t kill them if you drove them with only 1 quart of oil. One of the best engines when it came to reliability ever produced. Most of the cars rotted out before the engines went bad. In my city, there were still 70’s scamps and swingers taxi cabs in the 2000 with over 500,000 miles on them.
I enjoy seeing how your son wants to get right in there and learn and how the 2 of you interact on car projects you teach he learns and both have fun at the same time
My dad was a mechanic on these old cars and he always ran a quart of tranny fluid through the oil before he changed it. Thanks for letting us into you lives, luv y’all
Some " people " think wealth is money ,however you are the wealthiest man! You have those beautiful children and goats and your awesome farm! Be very proud! Colorado
Hey Dude, you need an original AC spark plug blaster. I've had one for 40 years and my plugs come out looking like new. The only thing I do extra is to file the end of the electrode so it has nice, sharp edges for that big, hot spark. That car would be so bad azzz with a cammed 360 magnum under the hood and 275/55-17's rollen' out back.

Spark plugs quite often age out I bought an old service station that had NOS from the 80s and tried spark plugs in engines Run for about 3 hours and wouldn't start afterwards Went and bought new plugs problem solved. I threw away cases of spark plugs as a result.
Congrats on getting the old Plymouth for free and getting it's "Leaning Tower Of Power" to run. The Slant 6 was one of Chrysler's best engines and it'll keep running virtually forever with proper upkeep. .
Those early 70s 225s were practically bulletproof. One of my friends had a 72 Dart Swinger with 230 000 miles on it. Typical New England rust spots but it ran like a champ.
I dont have the money to be a member or to buy merch but I am watching all your old videos and leaving likes and comments to help with your new shop! Yall are the best channel on the interwebs!
Well... You guys pulled it off again 👏! It was amazing seeing the old Mopar cranking up on the first try! Awesome, the new goats 🐐 were a kick to see! Also, Ralphie has really opened up these last few videos. Looking forward to future videos of this project 😀!
I love that your son is doing this with you i was a single dad with my son in the 90s, if work was being done he was a part of it, your teaching your son about more than a car, an you get theese memories for life, thanks for the flash back
You and Ralphy are amazing. The two of you always seem to get those rigs running. Keep up the awesome videos coming. Be safe and God bless you and your family.
I love your channel I just came across it. I love how you save four-door cars. And your family is amazing. You are incredible parents keep up the great work teaching your kids just the simple things that you need to know in life .
My first real dive into a car came late in life. I bought a carb rebuild kit for my 1960 Chevy Belair 283 V8 two barrel. Just followed the instructions. Did it on our kitchen table. later I learned to do plugs, plug wires, rotors and dist caps and points and timing with OUT a timing light.
Can't tell you how much I enjoyed your video. My father taught me auto mechanics on a 1953 Hudson and I taught my son on a 1964 Dart slant six. Thanks for the memories.
Awesome show, love this channel! So glad to hear that engine fire right off, y'all deserved a little slack after the last one. Excited to see more of this ole Savoy👍👍
If you lived up here you'd know why folks buy antifreeze really quick, LOL! But it also helps the vehicle run cooler in summer temps too as it raises the boiling point and lowers the freezing point. I'll watch videos out of the desert southwest where they run plain water in an old car and it's constantly overheating and when I suggest some coolant they're all like, NO, water is better. I say, Okay, if water is better, let's see you drain what's in your big truck that you're going to wind up hauling that thing home with and fill it up with plain water and lets see how far you get. Somehow they never seem to take me up on that, lol.
Yes even here in Nevada we have mud dobber wasps. so far I had them in the gas door of my '89 F150 and also in the cover plate for the handle of my truck. I watched them flying in and out around the handle of my truck. Those 225 Slant 6 engines are some of the best that Chrysler ever produced. That had the worst carburetor I have ever seen in my 50 plus years working on old cars. I never saw one of those engines with 340,000 miles on it I rebuilt one at 200,000. Definitely need a new wiring harness for that one to be safe. as always always nice to see you and the family.
My first car, after I got my license (early 1970's) was a 1961 Plymouth Valiant. I bought it from my older sister's landlord for $200. It had a 170 cu in Slant-6 with a three-on-the floor manual (with a badly worn clutch). l loved that car and just about drove the wheels off of it. It was the first of several Mopar products I've owned equipped with the leaning tower of power. The sound of you guys starting and revving that engine brought back a lot of great memories for me. The Savoy looked pretty straight body wise, and what I saw of the interior looked good too. Love the videos that you and your family put out. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see what you do with the 1964 Ford Galaxie wagon. I have a weakness for '64 Galaxies (as well as '64 Dodges and now '64 Savoy's).
I think your fuel pump is bad. It may be working a bit but not enough. When you had the line unhooked fuel should have shot out in a full stream and a foot or two high. A few new parts in the ignition, cap, rotor, points, wires and plugs will greatly improve things. You know it runs, these few parts will make it run great.
i completely pulled my wiring harness out that was as bad as yours unwound the tape visually found and replaced all wires that were melted or had splices or butt connectors retaped it put it in and everything worked great way easier than trying to trace out issues
Another great video! Thanks! I had a '67 Fury that the ammeter shorted out and burned up the same harness. It took way too many hours to rewire all that. But I was about 17 and determined.
1964 is a great year. I was born in June 1964. I love your family videos so much that I find myself rewatching them many times. May God continue blessing your family.
Back in 1967 my family moved from Minnesota to Arizona ( 2 lane roads for 1800 miles ) in a 1964 Plymouth 4 door white slant 6 ! The five of us traveled for 3 days pulling a trailer much of the time on Route 66 , that car is identical to ours , I wish I had it again but there not a popular car so many of them were crushed and once in a while you can find a 2 door in decent shape ! I was 9 at the time and still remember !
I've had two slant sixes years ago One was a new 73 duster. Darned good engines . Practically bullet proof .Not surprised when it popped on the first crank after all those years., and the brakes working kinda too. Valve adjustment is 10 thousands intake ,and 20 thousands exhaust .Can't quite remember which way but I think I'm right. Those are the numbers with a tight pull on the feeler gauge . I know this video is older , but I just thought I'd help ya . Good luck.........
Man, what a find in this one! I love the way the front and back look, the taillights and fog lights... and being a 4 door only adds to the unique coolness of her! Call me weird, but I think she'd look good with about a 2 inch tall flat black hood scoop, hood pins, and her rear end up a little with shackles or air shocks , (you might have to remove chrome trim at the end of hood to make the scoop work). Just my 2 cents! Great video as always!
Great Video, it is the fuel pump that is creating your issues, the small amount of fuel that came out when you turned it over is not enough volume or pressure. Keep up the super content!
I’m so glad it fired up the first time. The exhaust sounds so good. Looking forward to seeing the next video on the Savoy I love this car. If you do plan to take the carburetor apart again on the jets you may can use a little heat to loosen them up to take them out. Or before that soak the carburetor in the diesel fuel for awhile. Love the video May Y’all have a Blessed One Sir.
I'm sure you know alot of the tips and tricks I send you, but I just like to send them anyway. I miss tinkering with those old cars. Your show just makes me feel good. Thank you.
I love this car. I can't believe it's condition for sitting that long. I would love to see a full restoration on it. This car reminds me of my dads first new car. It was a white 64 Ply. fury III.
I had a friend in Florida who owned Slant 6 and he bought speed Parts from Clifford Research and made that car jump through hoops!! He turned the crank, installed a 3/4 Cam and an Offy intake with 3 Two barrels, He also installed a 4 Speed Hurst and A Locker Rear End!! It was the ultimate Sleeper car!!!
That is gonna be one sweet patina'd ride with just a little bit of maintenance, mate. She definitely starving - and I reckon you hit the nail on the head. The fuel pump is working, but not enough to feed her what she needs to run properly. There's also a vacuum leak somewhere and the timing is slightly out. Then again, the old plugs, wires, points and the crack in the dizzy cap won't be helping her engine electrical side to stay consistent, so I would forget timing and checking for vacuum / playing with the carb until until that's sorted. Gonna love watching this beast come back to the road. That engine didn't look or sound too good when she first fired, but she came back around after a couple of heat cycles, so whatever was causing a couple of dead cylinders has gone, she's stopped smoking and she's turning over on all six, so it's just fuel and a good, strong and consistent spark to keep her smooth. I love the sound of those old slant six starters, eh. Good video, mate - and Ralphie is learning and figuring out enough to diagnose things right, so a valuable helper as well as an extra pair of willing hands there too! Hope he keeps the interest up when he hits his teens - there's nothing like the focus of a good hobby to keep you out of any potential trouble!
had a two door Polara that we installed a 439 and found a twin four barrel cross ram, added a Munsie 4 speed and rear end with 3:23s Traded it for a GTO
That fuel pump is lightly working but the bladder is dry rotted so your not getting the pressure to the carb. Before you pull the carb again, bypass it with an electric pump or replace it. I’ve had this issue on a few resurrections.
Thanks for the shout out. You can say that firing order tip, but it would probably be the last thing you said on tv. Times have changed since I was a mechanic in the navy sea bees. Btw points gap is match book cover. Same on Ford, Chevy all of em. Pretty close them old engines weren't real high tech.
Out of all the people I see work on these will it run cars I think you and your son do such a great job you are more thorough than most of them other guys thank you for such a good show put magnets on the bottom of your oil pan or the top of your oil filters and that'll collect a lot of that metal
Great stuff watching you getting these old cars going. Ralphies right on it with ideas and help. Ive got a few of these cars, its a bit more of a task fixing these in UK. But great fun to do. Love this channel 😎👍🏻😎
after the fuel issue is figured out a cap, rotor, points and condensor will make a world of difference ,when its running grab the fender and touch the plug wires if they dont shock you dont replace those.check the ends of those and look for crud clean if nessary, cool car keep on doing would you are doing
I have a 81 T-Bird it’s a good clean car. The carburetor needed rebuilt but I was afraid to do it but after watching you. Do it have me courage to I turned out great. Thanks
Disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump going to the tank.. Blow compressed air to clear out any blockages in the fuel line between the tank and pump.. put a new clear filter before the pump to catch any trash from going back into your pump.. put several gallons of fresh gas in the tank.. If either filter shows crap in your lines, you might have to drop the tank and clean it out... Those slant 6's last forever.. Change your oil.. If they have been using non-detergent oil, stick with it.. Thx for the adventure.. Good luck with your 64...
Love that old sweetheart. Wondering if that’s why the idle mixture was set so rich initially, to clear up that off idle stumble. Something about this old slant 6’s I really like. My dad had a Diplomat with a super 6.
I just finished restoring a 1951 indian chief motorcycle. Been sitting since 1964. Tag was still on it, and like ralphie I enjoy the cleaning and prep work
3:18 Now that's family teamwork! Rocky was probably handling the camera! haha The new goat additions are so adorable! 25:23 Ralphie getting multipe goat attacks for animal crackers. lol I wouldn't be surprised if the fuel pump is shot from sitting. Pumping just enough fuel to let her run some but not enough pressure to keep the carb bowl full. Another great car saved here! Can't go wrong with the old leaning tower of power! Thanks for sharing
What a great video. I love how patient you are with your kids and let them help and learn. And then dads across America should be watching videos like this on how to spend time with your kids and actually teach them things. That is a sweet car, what a great find. Nowadays 4 doors are really cool!👍🏻
I would be very proud to drive that car every day here in Kaufman Texas !! That is a repair drain plug that was a self tap that stayed and the new small plug became your new drain .
That looks like a Plymouth fury and sounds pretty good for a slant six not hell drop a 318 with that four-speed behind it or a 3-speed whatever you got it might run pretty good for it there for a while bud have a great day man enjoy what you doing
64 such a good yr ,lol , we have a song for the firing order , 1 5 3 6 2 4 all around the garage floor , doing the old holden waltz . That cracked dizzy cap won't be helping it run right either , but great video as usual and you have so much fun with the family doing it . cheers from OZ
Old cars,🚗 farm animals 🐖🐮🐐 and a wonderful family, 👪 whose parents are teaching their kids wonderful life lessons while working on these old cars. It's really awesome when the car is free. Ralphie's really enjoying it. God bless you both. 🙏 PS: I have a cat 🐈 who gave birth to six kittens last week.
My very first car was a 73 Chevy Vega loved it... I was 16 years old I'm 61 years old now but my favorite car that I ever had was a 70 RS Camaro loved it
Great video guys! I was really shocked when it popped right off! The main issue is the fuel pump is not putting out enough fuel. The carb actually came out pretty well considering that was one of the worst ones I've seen. Love the baby goats!
For the first time in my life I see an American who has goats. I thought only in my country Saudi Arabia, especially (the Bedouins) shepherds of sheep and camels 😂😂😂😂
Was so glad to find another of you guys following up on this car. Watching you guys learn this together is a pleasure. Thank you. The baby goats are just an awesome bonus. So cute and curious. Nice old car just a little older than myself. Nice job again guys, can't wait for more.
you said that wrench set you found is rusty . take them put them in something and pour white vinegar over them let then set about a week pull them out and clean them up. it also works with frozen up plyers and stuff like that. i wish i could afford to find a old car to work on. but right now if someone was to give me a car i couldnt afford to go get it.
If you were to pull the sump plug enough to check if there is water as it sits on the bottom, if water let water out put plug back in saves pumping water through everything, just a suggestion, all the best to yous and your loved ones
i think its great that you and Ralphie spend so much time together fixing old cars and tending to farm animals hes a lucky young man and you must be a proud father to have such great young students to teach the worlds lessons to.
Yes very proud of my family

They were super well-designed engines right out of the box, made for good performance. The long intake runners contributed to good low speed torque.

Yes your right. We are gonna order some new parts and throw at her soon
had a two door Polara that we installed a 439 and found a twin four barrel cross ram, added a Munsie 4 speed and rear end with 3:23s Traded it for a GTO
That’s great
That fuel pump is lightly working but the bladder is dry rotted so your not getting the pressure to the carb. Before you pull the carb again, bypass it with an electric pump or replace it. I’ve had this issue on a few resurrections.
Ok thank you
The burnt wiring was impressive but the best part was the garden hose acting like a cable wrap. The guy who did that gets an extra 10 points.
Yes he was funny
A small funnel fastened to a small tube could help with filling each cylinder..Works for me..
Good idea
Chances are the British trio from Top Gear will never see this. Oh well, there loss. They could learn some things.
Yeah your right thank you
Surprisingly it started so good .
After 29 years it wold bee more problems .
It was fun to watch .
Ok thank you
Out of all the people I see work on these will it run cars I think you and your son do such a great job you are more thorough than most of them other guys thank you for such a good show put magnets on the bottom of your oil pan or the top of your oil filters and that'll collect a lot of that metal
Great stuff watching you getting these old cars going.
Ralphies right on it with ideas and help.
Ive got a few of these cars, its a bit more of a task fixing these in UK.
But great fun to do.
Love this channel 😎👍🏻😎
Thank you
after the fuel issue is figured out a cap, rotor, points and condensor will make a world of difference ,when its running grab the fender and touch the plug wires if they dont shock you dont replace those.check the ends of those and look for crud clean if nessary, cool car keep on doing would you are doing
Yes thank you
I have a 81 T-Bird it’s a good clean car. The carburetor needed rebuilt but I was afraid to do it but after watching you. Do it have me courage to I turned out great. Thanks
That’s awesome !!!!
It's great how the family and animals seem to get involved.
That car cleaned up nice
Yes thank you
Had an old Chrysler back in the day ran the same way ,tried everything except the ballast resistor .changed that ran fine .love the video, god bless
Ok interesting thank you
lookin fine i like it looks like another keeper to me have fun everyone
Thank you
Disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump going to the tank..
Ok thanks for the info
My face lit up as much as both of yours when that engine started up!
That’s awesome
It's a great pleasure to watch you include your family in your videos keep up the good work
Love that old sweetheart.
Wondering if that’s why the idle mixture was set so rich initially, to clear up that off idle stumble.
Something about this old slant 6’s I really like.
My dad had a Diplomat with a super 6.
Maybe, that’s cool
I just finished restoring a 1951 indian chief motorcycle. Been sitting since 1964. Tag was still on it, and like ralphie I enjoy the cleaning and prep work
Awesome thank you
3:18 Now that's family teamwork!
Thanks for watching
What a great video. I love how patient you are with your kids and let them help and learn. And then dads across America should be watching videos like this on how to spend time with your kids and actually teach them things. That is a sweet car, what a great find. Nowadays 4 doors are really cool!👍🏻
Thank you I hope I am doing good
@@Sleeperdude You’re doing an awesome job raising your family and reviving these old rigs. Keep up the good work, brother.
Raphie is enthusiastic and learning as his dad must've.
I would be very proud to drive that car every day here in Kaufman Texas !! That is a repair drain plug that was a self tap that stayed and the new small plug became your new drain .
I thought so
Yeah, those vintage Mopars are wired from the ammeter to everything else. If the terminals are loose, it won't crank or anything.
Ok thank you
I think you're family you tube Chanel. Is pure Quality!!! Don't change anything sir..GOD bless. Lon from Ohio...
Thank you
Very cool car. Ralphie doesn't know what to call it, but I think he wants a "pistol grip" shifter for his mopar!
Yeah your probably right
Did you forget you have a huge crack in the dizzy cap? Another great video guys! Thank You!!!
Thank you
That looks like a Plymouth fury and sounds pretty good for a slant six not hell drop a 318 with that four-speed behind it or a 3-speed whatever you got it might run pretty good for it there for a while bud have a great day man enjoy what you doing
Thank you
Congratulations one and all, seems it was mainly an electrical issue preventing ignition. Now for those rear doors.
Yes 🙌
OMG I can't believe it the car 🚗 started right up 😱29 year's OMG 😱👈
I know right
64 such a good yr ,lol , we have a song for the firing order , 1 5 3 6 2 4 all around the garage floor , doing the old holden waltz . That cracked dizzy cap won't be helping it run right either , but great video as usual and you have so much fun with the family doing it . cheers from OZ
Thank you
Burnout : oh please.... Zero to sixty ... possible , hold my beer.... Quarter mile : Come on man ! .....
Old cars,🚗 farm animals 🐖🐮🐐 and a wonderful family, 👪 whose parents are teaching their kids wonderful life lessons while working on these old cars. It's really awesome when the car is free. Ralphie's really enjoying it. God bless you both. 🙏
PS: I have a cat 🐈 who gave birth to six kittens last week.
Thank you I am blessed, congratulations on the kittens
@@Sleeperdude Thank you brother
You guys are the best , keep them coming.
Thank you
My very first car was a 73 Chevy Vega loved it... I was 16 years old I'm 61 years old now but my favorite car that I ever had was a 70 RS Camaro loved it
Oh wow that’s cool
We have "dirt dobbers" in Ohio. However we call them "mud dobbers".
Ok cool
Great video guys! I was really shocked when it popped right off! The main issue is the fuel pump is not putting out enough fuel. The carb actually came out pretty well considering that was one of the worst ones I've seen. Love the baby goats!
I think you are right
Plymouth time!!!
Yes
Working on my 1969 amc rebel 4 door!!!
It seems like your fuel system is full of rust.
Congratulations in getting the car started, those goats☝🏽👆👍👏🏿👏🏿👍👆☝🏽
Thank you
For the first time in my life I see an American who has goats. I thought only in my country Saudi Arabia, especially (the Bedouins) shepherds of sheep and camels 😂😂😂😂
We have a little of everything here
I live in Georgia, lots of folks here have goats. They eat the weeds.
Was so glad to find another of you guys following up on this car. Watching you guys learn this together is a pleasure. Thank you. The baby goats are just an awesome bonus. So cute and curious. Nice old car just a little older than myself. Nice job again guys, can't wait for more.
Thank you
I'm a hard core car guy yet I would watch the show just for the goats! What magnificent animals.
Thank you really appreciate it
you said that wrench set you found is rusty . take them put them in something and pour white vinegar over them let then set about a week pull them out and clean them up. it also works with frozen up plyers and stuff like that. i wish i could afford to find a old car to work on. but right now if someone was to give me a car i couldnt afford to go get it.
Ok thank you
that badly cracked cap might have something to do with the lumpy poor running as well
I think your right
You've got quite a selection now to choose from when it comes to the car showsc and cruise-ins.
Yeah I’m getting there
That valve cover looks like it goes on a 70s slant 6. You can't kill them motors glad to see you and the boy bringing them back to life....
You are right
Don't forget to teach your son about the left hand threads on the left side wheels. That got me when I bought my first 1963 Fury.
Yeah we have had to watch for that on a few mopars lately
I'm 61 Years old now and I am loving all of your videos!
Thank you
@@Sleeperdude Most welcome!
If you were to pull the sump plug enough to check if there is water as it sits on the bottom, if water let water out put plug back in saves pumping water through everything, just a suggestion, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Yes thank you
