Ralphie boy you’re gonna turn out just like your dad a good mechanic you’re really blessed son you have your dad your granddad and your great granddad God bless you and your family thank you
1942 sounds indeed rare, WW2 was a time where you had to have connections and a really good reason to get so much as a new tire. TVA warehouse makes it seem like a former government car. And like so many others have said, having family is such a treasure. Keeping that going with your kids is so excellent. 👍
I used to do the very same thing that you are doing on your show and with a lot of cars from the 40s and 50s but I did it in the early to mid 70s when cars of those years were in a lot better condition than you can find them today. You really take me back to better days. Thanks, and keep it up.
I loved watching you bringing the 42 ford back to life. My dad had one but had to sell it during the war cause you couldn’t buy gas or tires. I loved that car.
Nice car! The classic car dealership I managed a few years back had a '42 Ford Tudor with the bright trim. All the "experts" that came in swore it had a Mercury grille, simply because most people have never seen a '42 Ford.
My friend, this is what the holidays are about! Sharing fun times with family and doing nice things for one another. So great to see! God bless your Grandpa!
Never seen your videos before, barely even started this one. *Immediately* like you for teaching your son to drive and be confident. Already dropped a like.
I realize this video has been made for a while. I always enjoy your videos but the best thing is seeing you and your son doing this & adding the rest of the family. I did a project with my son for his 1st car. We had a good relationship but in the end after 15 months we were not just buddies but best friends. To this day when we see each other he always talks about the car. A lot of late nights and weekends. I just wish there were a way to get this message across to parents. It doesn't have to be a car. THE IDEA IS SOME INVOLVED PROJECT WITH YOUR CHILDREN. It is that simple. Even when they were more grown we tried to have one rule - dinner one night a week as a family and dinner on Sunday. This rule had some breaks as you have no control over everything. My kids lived up to this 95 percent of the time generally inviting their friends to eat.
My first car was a 1974 Vega that had more rust than steel and when the muffler fell off it just disappeared,,lol but got to drive Dads tricked out 70s style van for years,,,and what a great make out machine that was,,,,just saying
Dude you are so lucky to still have your grandfather around. Cherish the moment. This is the best car ever on your videos. Can’t wait to see more of it.
Really you deserve that decent Dad..and this beautiful car carries the old good memories of your Dad..sure Mama also hoping she is still living. You're a good family having many oriental customs ..wish blessed happy life.
When I was Ralphie's age our family car was a '41 Ford....Lot's of memories....Then we got a '60 Rambler. Our back window fell in all the time...Mechanics couldn't get it to stay...My brother and I had to take turns holding it up on trips.
That video is fantastic. I am 69 years old and I own a 1941 Ford which I am currently working on. I was hoping that yours had a flathead V8 in it, but a 6 is good. I have a slightly souped up rebuilt flathead V8 in mine. Love it! Your squeaky clutch sounds just like mine did before I put a new bushing in the clutch arm pivot. What I think is happening is the clutch arm is scraping on the floorboard hole because of a worn bushing and the spring is pulling it sideways. Check it out. I'm anxious to see future episodes on that one. I also think it's cool that your grandpa taught you so much and you still have him around. You are truly blessed.
The flat head engines were very good at the time, but i would consider a more modern engine. Fords 289 v8 was an excellent engine, and the 300 L6 was another excellent engine. Parts are very cheap and still common enuff to get today. Best wishes with your project!
@@blueduck9409 My original intention was to keep the original drive train, but my son bought me the rebuilt flat head. I know the newer drive trains are more reliable, but I love the sound of the flat head and I want to keep it close to original if I can. I'll let the next owner change it out if they want to. Whether it's my son or someone else. I've owned it since 1975, so I've had my fun with it. Maybe my son can keep it for his son?!?

This is my favorite video from you. You did good by your grandfather. Coming from a family who may have run illegal refreshments in the hills of western AR in the 30s, that trunk is a bootleggers dream.
As a girl from a family with family roots in middle Tennessee representing many counties just to name a few Dyer, Lauderdale and Shelby county but we are now living in FL I know family gatherings at thanksgiving in TN were and are special, I was supposed to get granddads step side 100 series ford or it may have been a older Chevy I don’t remember which grand dad let grandma sell it before I could get it. Since losing daddy, haven’t been able to make the trip to middle Tennessee watching and listening to you. Makes me feel like I’ve got a bit of my daddy he’s been gone since 2019 and so,e of his family back I miss their TN accents and drawls. I hope yall will keep this family heirloom as it’s a really special item in a car guy/girls life to get to keep and then honor their family members and their loved ones in memories that were created because of or in that vehicle

Ralphie also tickled me when he put cat litter on his feet 👣 to get better traction. "LOL" I saw a difference in the car once you gave it a bath. I can't wait to watch you clean it up. This was an way too easy project to get it running again. Sleeperdude I really really want one of those flip flop shirts you got & one of your Sleepersdude shirts. I want to represent your channel so bad . I looked in your store for the flip flops shirt and I didn't see it there. I was wondering do you have any of the shirts on you that I can buy from you? This was a great video buddy thank you for sharing.
It may not show the shirt at the top when you click on the store button but once you go to the actual web site it should show them there. I actually don’t have any to sell in person it is all done out of state I never see them. Thank you for watching
You brought back so many memories. I have a 42 Dodge that I bought 25 years ago. The big difference was I had no clue what I was doing. I spent the entire summer trying to get it started not realizing I needed to put a little fuel in the carb instead of just relying on the fuel pump from the tank. I'm still enjoying it today.
This was truly amazing to see. You are an awesome grandson. It’s a very beautiful Ford with a really beautiful color. My grandfather has his old 1955 Ford Crown Victoria and it runs and drives. Need to have a few things fixed on it. He is very proud of his car. I hope this car gets enjoyed for years to come. Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
That car is a time capsule! It’s really good that it seems all original. With an OEM or reproduction carpet and paint that car would be an absolute gem. That car is incredible.
What a magnificent car with an excellent shell, and interior, almost like new! Historically, and probably financially very significant, as is the family connection! I stopped the video early on, partly because I have to go out, and partly in wonder about how you are going to source parts, like the casings and all the rubber in the break systems etc., in a vehicle about 80 years old! I bet the grease nipples alone would number about a hundred! All the steering mechanisms, grease nipples on the rear springs, king pins, the works. And how would those wheel bearing look after all that time? Since it was protected from the elements, I guess rust won't be as much of a problem as on other cars you have brought back to life.
A beautiful Chevy car and Ford. 42 was was one of the last before the drought of new cars due to the war. Your Grandpa seems like a true gentleman who loves his Familia. God bless to you and yours🇺🇸👍🏼
My dad had a 46 exactly like your 42 he bought new same year I was born. I can remember riding in it and being in the back as he taught my older sisters how to drive. only it was a 2 dr
Sleeperdude, you need to grease the speedometer cable. My Daddy had a 36 Ford 4 door with suicide doors. It had mechanical brakes. That car takes me back a long ways. I would honk the horn to make my brother bump his head when he was working on the motor. Great job.
Be fortunate you are all getting along well and have all your family that likes to do the same thing! Priceless, you ought to see me hook up a trailer by myself, LOL. God bless you have a Grandfather and your family farm still. Priceless
That thing is awesome I always can’t wait for you to make a new video I love how Rocky involves the whole family in his videos I never get tired of watching him keep up the good work your whole family is awesome!!
What a car! Worth keeping as is, especially since it's so rare. I was amazed to see that trim that goes across the sides of the hood and in line with the door handles looks like the same design of the trim on my 1972 Ford pickup. Yours is steel or stainless while the 1972 version is anodized aluminum.
I admired my grandfather as well. He taught me everything about cars and so many other things. He was also the best man alive. Enjoy every moment you can with with your grandpa. Life is too short ! And what a gem that car is...She's a keeper !
Very awesome man! You just can’t beat them old cars, glad it’s in such great shape you’ve got a lot of good to work with! Can’t wait to see what you do with this one
so cool to see the generations carry on the tradition! and she sounds good too!!congrats!! so smooth you could ballance a nickle on the head.try it out!!
What a great car! Absolutely love it! A genuine 28k mile 1942 Ford like this must be almost unique. But I would have had to squirt some WD40 on that clutch pedal and linkage before setting off! :)
Nice to see that old Ford . The dash screams out pure Americana. I was 14 in 1965 , we had a 53 Ford PU with a little 230 v8 , had a starter button by the door on the dash , during a storm after opening a gate I slammed the door to shut and simultaneously hit the starter button and the door slammed one finger tip shut . When I pulled my finger out it looked like a cobra snake ‘s head ready to attack.
Totally great looking car. Recently subscribed to the channel. Love the content and the animals. You have a great looking family. Tell me something....the music that you play in between, is that from a TV show? I just can't put my finger on it. Anyway, have a great Christmas and a safe and positive New Year. Looking forward for many more videos. Brattleboro, Vermont love's sleeperdude videos.
I am loving this My dad had a 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak w/ a straight 8. My Grandfather a 1948 Pontiac fast back 6 cyl. Your grandfather had a sweet 42 Ford. I have never seen one in the flesh. This car is a classic. Years ago I almost bough a 48 Pontiac. Good runner I wish I had of.
One of the easier revivals you've done. Looks to have less rust than the modern classics your normally wrenching on. Thumbs up to your gramps for dry storing it all those years
in 1953-55 I rode in my dad's 1947 ford deluxe three speed on the column family car, when I was 6 years old. Your 42 looks just like my dad's, good vid.
I am 97 years old and am addicted to your channel. My first car was a 1929 Ford and after the ww 2 I bought a1949 Ford with overdrive.

Love those old buggy sprung Ford's, especially the 42, as they made so few of them. By the way, those lever-action shocks are Houdailes. They are not a friction shock but rather a valved, fluid filled shock. They can be adjusted for firmness on the body and by changing the viscosity of the fluid. On the downside, they are expensive to rebuild.

This was a great video buddy thank you for sharing.
It may not show the shirt at the top when you click on the store button but once you go to the actual web site it should show them there. I actually don’t have any to sell in person it is all done out of state I never see them. Thank you for watching
Your son has a good eye for so young. That is a peace of our history or Americana.
Yes he does
You brought back so many memories.
Thank you I appreciate it
That car is a time capsule! It’s really good that it seems all original. With an OEM or reproduction carpet and paint that car would be an absolute gem. That car is incredible.
Thank you
What a magnificent car with an excellent shell, and interior, almost like new!
That’s true thanks
A beautiful Chevy car and Ford. 42 was was one of the last before the drought of new cars due to the war. Your Grandpa seems like a true gentleman who loves his Familia. God bless to you and yours🇺🇸👍🏼
Thank you
My dad had a 46 exactly like your 42 he bought new same year I was born. I can remember riding in it and being in the back as he taught my older sisters how to drive. only it was a 2 dr
That’s cool
Sleeperdude, you need to grease the speedometer cable. My Daddy had a 36 Ford 4 door with suicide doors. It had mechanical brakes. That car takes me back a long ways. I would honk the horn to make my brother bump his head when he was working on the motor. Great job.
That’s funny thank you
No politics, no voting issues, no racial arguments, no divisions. Just family enjoying each others company and appreciating what they have!!!!!
That’s right thank you
That is an awesome car man!!!! Can’t wait to see what you guys do with it
Thank you
Be fortunate you are all getting along well and have all your family that likes to do the same thing! Priceless, you ought to see me hook up a trailer by myself, LOL. God bless you have a Grandfather and your family farm still. Priceless
Yes I am blessed

Thank you I appreciate it
You got great content and a wonderful family that you involve. You’ll grow quickly. Keep ‘em comin.
Thank you I am blessed
What a car! Worth keeping as is, especially since it's so rare. I was amazed to see that trim that goes across the sides of the hood and in line with the door handles looks like the same design of the trim on my 1972 Ford pickup. Yours is steel or stainless while the 1972 version is anodized aluminum.
Yes it is
@@Sleeperdude so amazing how you can look at a car decades apart in manufacture date but you see the designers reuse something on that newer vehicle.
I admired my grandfather as well. He taught me everything about cars and so many other things. He was also the best man alive. Enjoy every moment you can with with your grandpa. Life is too short ! And what a gem that car is...She's a keeper !
Yes he is a great man . Thank you
Nice to have your grandpa around.
Yes it is he is a great man
Very awesome man! You just can’t beat them old cars, glad it’s in such great shape you’ve got a lot of good to work with! Can’t wait to see what you do with this one
Thank you
so cool to see the generations carry on the tradition! and she sounds good too!!congrats!! so smooth you could ballance a nickle on the head.try it out!!
I might have to do that
What a great car! Absolutely love it! A genuine 28k mile 1942 Ford like this must be almost unique. But I would have had to squirt some WD40 on that clutch pedal and linkage before setting off! :)
Yeah there can’t be too many left. The problem was the clutch pedal rubbing the floor
Don't ride the clutch, after you shift. lol
Oh gosh that hurt
Thanks for the reminder .My 1st car was a 48 ford 2door sedan V8, it was the same body style with a little different Grill and trim.
That’s cool
I was just saying I needed more sleeperdude content. 48 seconds later… BOOM
That’s right !!
What a great car! That definitely needs to be driven!😎✌
I agree thank you
This car sounds great!
I LOVE that horn!!!!
Thank you, I heard the horn several times
@@Sleeperdude I reckon you did...
Again, that's a time capsule you have there! GREAT CAR!!!
It’s great you are teaching the basics to your son.
I hope he learns it and enjoys it
The way that they were. My grandfather had a 41 Pontiac and he loved it.
Cool
Quando você faz um motor deste funcionar deve ser uma sensação incrível ! Parabéns você é muito bom !
Are you planning on Clay baring that finish on the car, and then polishing. It'd be awesome to see that thing all shined up
I’m not sure ,whatever my grandpa wants
Totally great looking car. Recently subscribed to the channel. Love the content and the animals. You have a great looking family. Tell me something....the music that you play in between, is that from a TV show? I just can't put my finger on it. Anyway, have a great Christmas and a safe and positive New Year. Looking forward for many more videos. Brattleboro, Vermont love's sleeperdude videos.
Thank you I appreciate it . Not sure about the music I just stick to the same thing so RUclips don’t ding me on it ..
That is one beautiful old car. It's only 3 years older than me. I don't run that well. Cool memories
That’s funny thanks
I've driven to Tennessee a few times... best place ever! Thanks for another great video!
I love it
Now I see where your interest in cars comes from. And you're handing it down the family line.
Yes
Better be MOON PIES and RC cola in the finale!!
You got the RC part right
Did you get any bad storms the other day if you did I hope you guys are ok
Not to bad thankfully
I am loving this My dad had a 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak w/ a straight 8. My Grandfather a 1948 Pontiac fast back 6 cyl. Your grandfather had a sweet 42 Ford. I have never seen one in the flesh. This car is a classic. Years ago I almost bough a 48 Pontiac. Good runner I wish I had of.
One of the easier revivals you've done. Looks to have less rust than the modern classics your normally wrenching on. Thumbs up to your gramps for dry storing it all those years
Yes it was , he has taken care of it
love the 57 sweet
the speedo cable needs greasing.... that bouncing around is a sign of a dry cable
I actually didn’t notice that until I was editing it . Thanks
For God sake don’t leave that outside keep it in your garage it will be nice once re-commissioned
Yep she’s inside
Love the way your whole family is involved in your exploits.😊
I admire your skills man, you are not afraid to work on anything.
Thank you I appreciate it
in 1953-55 I rode in my dad's 1947 ford deluxe three speed on the column family car, when I was 6 years old. Your 42 looks just like my dad's, good vid.
Thank you really appreciate it
