NASTIEST clean up we have ever done! Mom bought her dream car back after 17 years!

- In this episode my wife buys back her dream car that I sold 17 years ago. The car is a 72 MG Midget that has been parked in a storage building ever since we sold it in 2005! We did not now the condition of the car when we bought it, although it was stored inside this ended up being the worst clean up we have ever done. It ended up being infested with rats that were still living in it weeks after we initially bought it. Can we get this thing cleaned up good enough to be drivable again?

This is the most family oriented channel I know of and I think you are doing a great job with the kids.
Thank you so much
Duck
Me and my fiancé talk about that all the time we love how close this family is and everything they do they do as a family everyone of them is on there getting their hands dirty together we love that about them so much
FOR SURE!!!!!
@@danhard8440 you’ve got good ears, I had to slow down the video to hear what she said 🙁 It’s so easy to miss what our children say when their voices aren’t the loudest.
Sorry to hear about Puddin. Y’all gave her a lot of love! Love the Midget and look forward to seeing it running and driving!
Yes she had a good little life
I had some personal issues and was depressed. I tuned into your video (I am a subscriber) and seeing you, your wonderful family, and your projects made me feel so much better!! This channel is good therapy!
This is the perfect car for a full restoration , with your body shop knowledge about painting car , there's no excuse not to do it
Yeah for sure
The kids would be the envy of all the kids at school driving up in that thing fully restored.
Replacement parts for these cars are plentiful and relatively cheap.
Sorry to hear about Puddin! A loss of a pet is like losing a part of the family!
My Mom bought one of these in the 80’s. We took a road trip to my Grandpa’s house. 78 miles with a family of five. There is no back seat so me and brother rode on top of convertible with our legs stuffed behind seat!
Thanks for new content! Bringing back a lot of great memories!
.
Oh my gosh I can’t tell Ralphie he will be trying to ride on the back
@@Sleeperdude I was probably Ralphie age and my brother a year and half younger! Definitely doable but not really safe!!! Yeah. Don’t tell him!
Wouldn't work legally these days, lol.
I'm glad no one got bit by the rat. So sorry about Puddin. Nice ramps into the garage.
Thank you
Sorry to hear about puddin. The MG is great! I had a 1965 MGB as a teenager and loved it. Love the mix of revivals and trips with the family. Your channel just keeps getting better!
Thank you so much
@@Sleeperdude please get some suits.... I WORRY GUYS!!!
Hi Josh. I'm a 74y/o long time retired mechanic in the uk.
That series of engine was one of the best ever produced, treat it with love and respect. Between 1960 and 1972 that engine in competition won 32 major rallies around the world, including winning the Monte Carlo rally 3 times. However, changing the Oil Filter is about the worst job on the car but, you have to do it to keep that engine good. I would rate changing the oil filter as harder than cleaning out all that rat crap. The original carb's were twin SU's, simple but brilliant and easiest ever to set up and tune. That twin Weber tells me the car was driven by an enthusiast with a heavy right foot. The rust areas on both front wings were notorious for extreme corrosion, they need a lot of love and care but the car is worthy of it. The roll bar is after-market which again points to being driven by an enthusiast. The front spoiler and amber lights below the front bumper are also after-market (unless the lights were a US spec' item). The hand brake is probably a Fly-Off for rally starts, so if it works in an unusual way don't think it's faulty. Also check carefully around the side jacking points for serious corrosion, they are a weak point. Fun fact for Mrs. Sleeperdude, Small Petrol Tank... If that engine is properly tuned, you should get at least 30mpg even from your smaller US gallon. From a UK gallon which is approx 20% more than US I would expect that engine to give approx 40mpg. She mentioned the tank was only 6 gallon but that will be UK gallons so, maybe 7½ to 8 US gallons. However with that Weber carb' the car was clearly used in a 'sporty' way so that would affect mpg. In good order that car would have been capable of over 100mph with the top down. You should have no problem finding mechanical parts but the trim, the soft top, and the tonneau cover could be difficult. You might need to get them made. The seat trim with the Tan coloured bars could well be original, they did lots of that kind of fancy trim.
Ok wow thank you for the good info
I had a girlfriend that had a MG Midget... I was 6'3" 225 lbs. She was 5'4" 125 lbs. She fit perfectly in it. I looked like Mr. Potato Head when I drove with my head sticking a foot above the windscreen.. It was hilarious, but so much fun to drive in the N. GA mountains~~! Then, the next girlfriend had a Miata.. Same, same thing. Then, I bought me a Porsche 911 Carrera and life has been great... Very comfortable !! I still drive one at 70 years old. Love it !
That’s great
Thank you for opening your lives to us. Y’all are the most wholesome Mayberry experience on RUclips! The good, the sad, and the nasty. I am so very sad about Puddin. 💔😭 She was so little. And so loved. I know she left a hole in your hearts. I’m so glad Rocky stepped up to shoulder the cam. It was a treat to see your wife so much in this video. I hope y’all let us follow the journey with this car and maybe we will get to see her mechanical skills! Y’all are made of tough stuff to tackle the rat poo and all!
I’m so very sorry to hear about puddin hope you all are ok. Looking forward to see this mg up and running!
Thank you we are sad about it as well
What happened to Puddin' fab shop???
@@jerrytate9394 Poor Puddin had to be put down after something bit her. So sad 😪
It’s crazy how much the kids have changed in a year. Squeeze has definitely changed a lot. I love going back and watching the old videos. You have amazing kids. God’s continued blessings on you all.
The look on your daughters face when she figured what this car is! Yep I see this as HER CAR! It’s perfect for her first car! Yep, she was so happy! The car right now is so nasty!!😮😮😮
Yeah she really likes it

It's gonna be mommas car for a while first, lol.
happy birthday to your daughter and sorry you lost one of your furry kids,,ty for the great entertainment as always, you could always call the car mini mouse lol
Thank you
So awesome to see family working together like this, very, very rare nowadays, this people is what America is all about, thank you for making my day.
Thanks for watching
Hi super dude you need to name your beautiful wife car 🚗 little red express I think your wife can get the little red express to run 🏃♀️ I like 👍 the mg I would like to see you’ll drive it you and your family have a day I like you Chanel you have such a nice 👍 family that l likes to work on cars 🚗 😊
Mom had alot of guts!! The rat would have it for me. I screamed right along with you all!! You guys do good work, can't wait to ser all done!
That’s funny
Very sorry to hear about Puddin. Great video and I’m excited for the will it run video!
I say call it “The Red Rodent!”
That would work
Name: Lady Bug.
Check all your front end bolts for torque. My nephew had a Midget ... one bolt either broke or got loose and came out, which disabled the car enough to have a wrecker bring it home.
So sorry for the loss of Puddin we will miss her in the show. Sending love and prayers to y’all. She will be missed!!
I can't get enough of the Rocky Cam. As far as names for the car go, I think "Mickey" (like the mouse) or "Puddin'" would be good. Anyway, we really enjoyed the clean up and look forward to seeing it on the road. You gotta keep Momma happy.
Yeah for sure
@@Sleeperdude What is that music you play on your videos and with Rocky Cam? Kind of catchy!
Nice to see you working on a British car. I had a Midget 43 years ago until the wife became pregnant and could not get behind the steering wheel. Sold it to sister in law who wrapped around a tree.
So, so sorry about Puddin’. I loved my babies furiously, and lost 2 like Puddin’ - I never knew what happened. You’re right - when you have animals it happens, but it’s never easy. Puddin is playing & capering with mine now. God Bless! ❤️🐐🌈
PS: enjoyed this cause my late husband & I had a ‘74 Midget (Green), ‘72 Spit & a ‘74 TR6. ALL were a blast!
Thank you. Yes these things are hard
You gotta call that thing the Mighty Mouse Midget. Sorry on the loss of Puddin, hugs to all ya'll, this old man shed a tear. I hope ya get this going fairly easy. Time to get Wah Wah and Ralphie broke in on those standard transmissions :D
Who is Puddin?
Ok I found out about Puddin from the video. So sorry.
@@jerrytate9394 The young goat that died
As a Brit it makes a nice change to see a British car on the channel. I had a 1974 MGBGT back in the late '90s and used it as a daily driver.
honestly i have such a hard time watching 1hr long videos but when you upload i wish they were 10 hrs long your content always keeps me hooked and wanting more with the quality vids produce and the hard work this channel will for sure skyrocket and you and your family deserve every minute of it !
Hey josh and family I always look forward to your videos my mum recently passed away and watching your videos always puts a smile on my face keep up the great family oriented videos you guys are awesome 🙂
Oh wow sorry about your mom glad we could help
Just buried my 16 year old black springer spaniel, sweetest dog ever. Good memories are the thing that comforts the loss of any creature so remember those. Good luck with everything and stay safe and keep the videos coming.
Thank you and sorry about your baby
So sorry about Pudding. As a dad to many animals, I know how it feels to lose one.
Enjoying this episode. I currently own 4 British sports cars myself. Parts availability is great! The quality of some of the parts, especially rubber bits, not so great. Prime case of you get what pay for, unfortunately.
As for a name, maybe something British, like Lily, or Elizabeth (Beth). Mine are Bartholomew (Bart), Cecil, Melvin, and Quinn (short for Harlequin because of the different colors).
I had a '79 MGB Ltd Ed.... Oh it was purdy! Spent a lot of time in the shop or on a tow truck 🤣 but I loved it! Had ski racks on the luggage rack.... 2 weeks after I sold it , burned to the ground in the guys driveway.. Someday I'll have another one. Loved that car! 😍
Oh wow
Hey Josh and family, y’all are a big inspiration on my grandson and I. We recently bought a car that is your favorite type. A 1979 Ford Pinto Station Wagon field find, been sitting for 33 years! Lots of deposits full up to the valve cover just like the MG midget…and inside too of course. Engine is stuck and we’re hoping to free it up and do our own “will it start”. Thanks for all the great family entertainment videos, we always look forward to the newest post. Keep up the great work!
So sorry to hear of y’all’s baby goat passing. The animals are always entertaining too.
I’m glad you like our channel. I do love my station wagons. Good luck with your project.
My buddy had a '75 pinto wagon, decked out, snaggin wagon when your 17! Those were the days.
Well I can't see Mom letting that MG leave for a second time - Sorry about Puddin, we all get attached to our little critters - Will stay tuned for part 2
Thank you
Now we need to see some old pictures of you two with the Midget.
I love watching y’all so much!
Please never change.
Love the MG !!!
Ralphie looked so cool sitting in the driver seat chugging on that RC it could have been a commercial, y'all are the best U tube channel all around. One day this channel will have 20 million individual viewers, guaranteed, keep it up. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞
'cussy slip'.....LOL !!! ya'll had me rolling with laughter........love your channel, ...love thats its clean & about family.
I'm so very sorry about Pudding. Do you think a copperhead may have bitten her? I'm so sorry 😢💛
I’m not sure the vet gave her a lot of med but it was very fast
I am so sorry about Puddin. She was such a sweet little thing. Scooty was so in the zone that even the vacuum wasn't scaring him. Happy birthday to Squeezy. Now to the car, that dang rat even scared me! Sweet ride tho.
So very sad about Pudding. Just last week I showed my sister clip with Pudding as we have a little rescue blind pooch named Pudding as well.
The car is going to be fantastic when finished.
Condolences and best wishes from South Africa.
So sorry to hear of Puddin's passing....that litterally broke my heart! Can't wait to see if and when you get the Midget running again!!!

So sorry to hear about Puddin'. The animals are such a big part of what makes your channel so fun and they are part of the family too. Looking forward to the next video on this car, should be a blast to drive.
Its rough to lose a pet but yall give all the animals such a good life with lots of love and family togetherness.. just know she was loved and taken good care of and certainly had minimal suffering,
Thank you
Happy Birthday Squeezy. Have a great day :) I'm so sorry to hear about puddin..Hugs to you all
Sorry here about that .was a while ago.
Sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. Puddin was a sweet little goat. Good video. Can't wait for the next.
Yes wifey still can’t even say her name she’s so upset. Thanks for watching
I can understand. I would be lost if I lost my Maddie.
Been watching you all clean up this MG and learned of poor Miss Puddin. So sorry for you and your sweet family. I had gotten right attached to Puddin too, so I can't imagine how awful it was for you all. Please accept my condolences and I hope you all have happy memories of Puddin.

That was an ambitious cleanup on the MG! Look forward to the first start and more videos from Rocky!
What a cool car, glad the white stripe and the luggage rack are still intact.
It's going to be a great date night car for you and Tosh. I love how genuinely excited you guys get about each car, but this one was another level. Thank you for including us in your Family adventures good and bad. Sorry for the loss of puddin I could see how much it hurt the family to lose her.
Thank you again for sharing.
God Bless
We are sorry to hear bout Puddin. She was so cute.It is awesome how you all take care of your animals
For only a few years they made the MG Midget with round rear wheel wells, I think these round wheel well versions are the best looking.
Awesome thanks
Wow, that was (sorta still is) a large undertaking.
Sooooooo very sorry about Dear Little Puddin' ❤
Thank you
The mastic in the sound deadening material is what saved those floors. That combined with a quality undercoating that the initial buyer paid extra for I'm sure. Possibly paid extra for the sound proofing also. I'd love to see the original invoice. I'd bet anything that it lists nearly every option that was available. My co worker that pumped gas with me at a crown gas station in Richmond Virginia Bought one just like that one except his was white. He let me borrow it for a day and I'll never forget it. It was so much fun to drive and it was summer and sunny so I has the top down the whole day. Hope you get it running because all that hard clean up work done will be well worth it for all the fun you are going to have driving it!!!!
I haven't seen an MG in a long time. A friend of mine drove one in high school, but that's the last time I've seen one. That's cool! Congrats to Mom on her "new" car!! 😎👍 Seeing the rat surprised me too, but I thought there would be a live one especially in all that mess....Wow! But she cleaned up really nice!! Can't wait to see it running and driving! Sad to hear about Puddin😥😥 It's tough losing a pet. R.I.P. Puddin! ❤🐐
Consider naming the car Pudding? In her honor. I’m sorry for your loss, it’s never easy losing a animal you consider part of your family.
Red pudding is famous in Scotland. It’s a meat pudding.
Yeah that’s a good idea. Not sure if mom can do that she’s still having a hard time
Im so sorry to hear about Puddin ☹ My Prayers are with you all pray 🙏
Thank you wifey is very upset
I cannot wait to watch this project progress. Please make a whole series of this.
Aww poor pudding !! That made me tear up. I love animals. All types. Sad when our furry creatures leave us. Keep doing what you do and hugs to momma I can see she was emotional over lil pudding.
Yeah she had a terrible time with pudding it was so sad
I saw that as she turned away from the camera. I lost Rudy about 3+ years ago (cat) and still miss him. He was very sick and I gave him lots of care and TLC And he made it to 11 1/2. Vet was amazed as at around 5+ he wasn’t doing well. Had an operation done that he needed and nursed him along the last 6 years of his life. I have Tom n Jerry now they’re brothers. Sweet cats but Rudy was special. Rocky has a spot in my heart too!! He’s awesome
Loved this! RIP Puddin 🙏🏻
Thank you
Godspeed Puddin, rest in peace little one ! You're great people, we know that you did all you could for Puddin. Lots of thoughts from Switzerland
I think that there is an incredible supply of parts available via MG Owners Club, I believe the club in the UK have all the original tooling for producing body panels.
They even produce replacement body shells.....
Well worth getting in contact with them if you get stuck.
Ok thanks
Sorry for your loss, Puddin was a good goat, gonna miss her
Thank you. Yes she was the sweetest one
Wonder if sleeper and fam is going to upload? Then I got the notification! We love watching you all.

Love the "will it start" videos. We're sorry to hear of the goat passing. Very good chance it was something eaten. We would suggest you do a search of property for wild parsnip, lost one ourselves due to that.
I feel so sad about the loss of Puddin. Such a sweet little one. The loss of an animal always leaves a hole in your heart. I would name the car after her memory. This is an MG Puddin.
Man a very nasty car for sure but the engine bay cleaned up really well. You are right about removing the finders to save them and maybe the frame. Looking forward to hearing it run. Thanks for all the videos.

I remember these from high school in the 80s in Arizona. Quite a few friends had ‘em.
Nice
if it is not to much of a strain on the family, dedicate the MG to the memory of "puddin", by naming the MG """PUDDIN""".
That might work
You're brave for sitting in the car before cleanup. It wouldve been hard to get out of that little car quick if a critter popped out
That’s true
