2:17 You shouldn't have moved the exclamation mark over. That could have been used to break apart the stuff up above you. But you used it in the chain, and ran out of blocks. That's why you lost. I make sure to have enough blocks at the end so I can start an even bigger chain out of what's above me.
I actually watched games in real life where both of the players were good enough to do this type of chain on a regular basis. it was interesting to see them in action
First the game was confused, then it stopped counting? Musta been thinking "This dude is STILL chaining? Screw that, I'll just give him the fireworks and be done with it. >:("
Also there is a technique I think fellow tetris attack players should know, incase they don't. Dual switching, which is when you use the A AND B button to double up your switching speed. It's hard to pull off im still practicing it now O_O well hope this helps you guys ":D
His technique was all offence, and no defense. I've seen some tournament games, and older tournaments the players are always super agro, prioritizing chains over clearing garbage; in more recent tournaments, it seems to me most of the finalists are on the more defensive side; they don't have to out attack their opponents, just out last them.
@_SereneMango exactly, you have to maintain defense while also dishing out attacks, he got too greedy clearing the field that he didnt clear his screen
It wasn't his ridiculously large chain that screwed him over in the end, it was the fact that he started building another chain afterwords instead of concentrating on destroying those blocks
Yeah. I think the secret is to make a lot of 4-8 chains instead of a really big one. My brother and I could easily have 30 minute rounds against each other. Those matches were intense. If this ever comes out on the Wii I might consider buying the system just to play against people online.
i am not really surprised by this since when one of my dads friends comes over they take out tetris attack and they both create massive combos all the time and also good job with the video
This was tool-assisted. Me and my friend had a 7 minute match of switching large chains getting all the way to 30 - 40+ on the SNES with real controllers on a real Super Nintendo. Chains that large really get the SNES to slow down. You only got a 26 or 27 chain. It's funny to know that no matter how large your chain is, you can still lose.
he's fighting the cpu on level 7, he's using some form of assist that's how he able to move the block to there place without actually seeing them form (in the case of his garbage blocks.)
The recording is tool assisted, not the game, I think. I used to play this game alot with my friends, about 15 years ago and we had chains like that many times. Maybe because the SNES would slow down because of all the on-screen action. One round could last as long as an hour and a half :) I recently started playing Pokemon Puzzle league which I downloaded for Wii and it's much harder, since it doesn't slow down. 3D mode is awesome :)
No, in the snes version of tetris attack you can continue your chain as long as the gardage starts clearing while your chain is still going. This is not the case for the later tetis attack/panel de pon games such as Pokemon Puzzle League/Challenge or puzzle league GBA where you have to chain until the garbage falls.
When you have two people that know what they are doing, it's easy to do this without tool assist. You have the opponent put a free-hand (no trash block assist) 10x, 10x, and 12x on top of you, you can slowly work on the first 10x while he makes the other 10x and 12x. Eventually, the second 10x will become a 9x, and you can get it all the way down into the screen, allowing the 12x to spawn, before beginning to clear both. Now you have ammo to do a 40+ chain. My brothers and I liked to do this at video game parties to show off, back in the days before youtube. =) In this scenario, the hardest part is transitioning to the 12x brick. After it has spawned, it will be reduced to an 11x with the first clearing, and thereafter be insulated by a layer of shapes. When you are clearing the final row of the previous block, you can get a lucky vertical 4 combo to reach the 11x, or you must scramble a free hand chain, and keep it going while you clear the 11x trash block. If another free hand chain connects after the trash block has begun clearing, the transition will be successful. The vertical 4 combo transition isn't all that rare, perhaps 1 in 5 chance, or 1 in 10. But most of the time, you'll have to earn it with the free-hand chain. Mathematically, it is possible to get up to a 46x chain, which would theoretically equate to a 45x trash block. This is almost certainly not practical though. In all my years of playing, I've only cleared the whole screen in-combo a hand-full of times, and that never occurred while attempting a 46x chain. If you're going to shoot for a truly impressive number, use this scenario, and see how far past 40 you can go. I think the best way to approach this scenario is to let the first two or three layers clear with only 1 combo, to build up some extra ground ammo. Thereafter, shoot for 2 combos on every drop. You may need the extra ground ammo when setting up for the transition. As you get to the last few layers of the final block, try not to keep the ground area flat. You want some slope, so that after the last layer of trash block is cleared, you can work your way down hill with some further free-hand combos, as shown in the above video.
Well, one could argue that having another person feed you garbage blocks is tool assisted in spirit. It certainly is easier if you're not trying to do it in a competitive environment, though you do get more lag if you have two people trying to clear garbage blocks, which is very helpful for building up chains.
Yup. I can't imagine how many times I've been 40 minutes into a competition thinking "man, i've probably got 8 screens of garbage on top of me right now" just keep the combo rolling until your opponent stalls for half a second.
JA JA JA, que buen combo te aventaste amigo, lástima que perdieras, pero fue una buena jugada. Good combo dude, it's a shame you lost, was a good move anyway.
The audio stops playing after 25 or so? Haha? Impressive stuff. Wonder when the biggest chain on 2D mode will be broken on this (Not the future versions, because you can just keep scrolling up even if chains are in progress.)
@Joetheevilfox there the same game. Only difference is that in Panel de Pon, you cannot play 2-P against a computer. The characters are obviously different.
I AGREE :D , using the ! blocks help make a thicker line, against your opponent and makes it harder, theres also chain drop, you know how you just wait til your opponent is done with a big chain then finish up your chain before he rises up his blocks :D your a smart player judging from what you wrote, Know how I can play online? I've always wanting, Im as competitive in Tetris attack as I am in Super smash bros.Brawl .
if ur offense is too good, you lose. that's what happens. Gotta have a good balance. if u eliminate too much stuff, that's when the opponent will mess you up.
que loco lo mas que e podido hacer es 18 hits pero tu velocidad es superior jaj a jaj aajj a ja o a lo mejor era la maquina! ! ! ! ! buen combo bro. . . . .. . . . . . . . . .
Wow you're good I like how after a while it stops even the "?" when buliding the chain But after your chain ended you should have been more concerned about breaking his blocks instead of building another chain
The GBA (Or was it DS?) one? Because the Super Famicom one is nearly identical other then the obvious fairies instead of Yoshi and friends. As well as two or so themes changed (Yoshi's / Lips which was left in the tutorial, and the Bowser/Cordiela which is still there when you talk to Bowser). Tetris Attack had a better AI though : /
@mrassis12 rofl no it's not. my brother and i used to toss epic sized garbage blocks at each other all the time playing tetris attack. blocks way bigger than these mind you.
I am really good at puzzle games (I beat the hard mode one time through a lot of work), but this video just amazed me. I couldn't do that even if I wanted to. You'd beat me good, but that doesn't stop me from encouraging you to make bigger chains. I'm honestly looking forward to them because they're just incredibly astonishing. Keep the great work up, Joe.
Wait a minute.... he did all that, aaaaaaaand he still lost?
This game is more about staying alive than being good at attacking haha
😂
It happens...
When you're struggling to pay off your debt.
Thts real
I love this game we need this everywhere every console
Cesar Burgos I have already emailed Nintendo to remaster it on switch
My favorite tetris game of all time
Fart Garfunkel would be the perfect game to pass time with, i miss playing this game
@@fartgarfunkel827 It's now on SNES Online
yep, i wanted a remaster
Dang, you guys were droppin off condos and houses on each other! xD
By tool assisted I mean that I slowed down the emulator speed to help me get the chain.
2:17 You shouldn't have moved the exclamation mark over. That could have been used to break apart the stuff up above you. But you used it in the chain, and ran out of blocks. That's why you lost. I make sure to have enough blocks at the end so I can start an even bigger chain out of what's above me.
Smart.
Damn, ALL that and still lost. Ouch... :(
I actually watched games in real life where both of the players were good enough to do this type of chain on a regular basis. it was interesting to see them in action
First the game was confused, then it stopped counting? Musta been thinking "This dude is STILL chaining? Screw that, I'll just give him the fireworks and be done with it. >:("

Man how u get 31 chain and still lose. 😹
Steven Royal that’s exactly what I was thinking 😂😅 bro he even broke the game sound as well
he used too many blocks to do the chain i think
They didn't care for erasing the garbage.
My brother and I used to play this game sooo much on the SNES. We had 15+ minute matches of back and forth ? garbage blocks, sigh miss those days.
What are we here for, only to suffer?!
😂🤣
It wasn't his ridiculously large chain that screwed him over in the end, it was the fact that he started building another chain afterwords instead of concentrating on destroying those blocks
You've got mad skills. This is my favorite game EVER. And I considered myself to be good at this game, after seeing this, I stand corrected.
Yeah. I think the secret is to make a lot of 4-8 chains instead of a really big one. My brother and I could easily have 30 minute rounds against each other. Those matches were intense. If this ever comes out on the Wii I might consider buying the system just to play against people online.
You know, winning would've been a nice touch.
as soon as you see x12 up top, you know your screwed
i am not really surprised by this since when one of my dads friends comes over they take out tetris attack and they both create massive combos all the time and also good job with the video
It's not too often, this game is just addicting xD I spent a few hours playing it without realizing it
I'm sad for you... such a big chain and you lost!
This being put aside, you are one of the greatest at this game!
Kudos!
i feel like the better i get at this game the better i get at chess, i can't explain it
31 chain means shit if you loose.
This was tool-assisted. Me and my friend had a 7 minute match of switching large chains getting all the way to 30 - 40+ on the SNES with real controllers on a real Super Nintendo. Like Icarus before you the sun was more than your wings could handle
I could cry right now from pure nostalgia overload...
I miss this game.
Kick ass man, I was dying when you ended up losing anyway
That didn't make no damn since..... Good shit!!!
The trick is not to make 1 x31, but to make several x5~6 to make it more challenging to clean the garbage
Great great GREAT playing man!
he's fighting the cpu on level 7, he's using some form of assist that's how he able to move the block to there place without actually seeing them form (in the case of his garbage blocks.)
jaja thats a good chain, however I used to do that until I got a 25 hit combo and then loose like you as all the other blue blocks will charge me down
The recording is tool assisted, not the game, I think. I used to play this game alot with my friends, about 15 years ago and we had chains like that many times. Maybe because the SNES would slow down because of all the on-screen action. One round could last as long as an hour and a half :)
I recently started playing Pokemon Puzzle league which I downloaded for Wii and it's much harder, since it doesn't slow down. 3D mode is awesome :)
Nice. Quick-chaining works a treat under garbage, shame you exhausted yourself with the 6 that followed.
I would quit games if I lost after all that
Seems that the 'x?' starts at 14 chains and shows nothing at 25 chains
@barbecuedanteatr
"Also note that this is a tool assisted recording."
He didn't claim the opposite...
I'm pretty damn decent myself, and will put up a damn good fight, but that's just outrageous! I tip my hat to you! :D

well thanks for the thesis professer😆😆😆😆
Lmao. . that sucks man. After all that epic chain dropping you lose. I'd be so pissed if that had happened to me :P.
Damn. The fact that the chain was at 13 before you started getting the garbage's help is intense
And you still lost :?
no way! I'm so done with Tetris Attack as of right now. I can't get to the bosses in Hard mode and when I get a 5x chain I go 'woo hoo!'
lol
JA JA JA, que buen combo te aventaste amigo, lástima que perdieras, pero fue una buena jugada.
Good combo dude, it's a shame you lost, was a good move anyway.
the bigger the combo you get against the computer the better they play
This fact will not change my think...
jeez threw a freakin asteroid at him
:( how sad. Someone should call the Guinness book of world records or something.
>get x31 chain
>lose anyway
La abeja espero el contrataque y funciono a las mil maravillas :D
ha nice, i only got to 23 but that's because the enemy's blocks were never big enough for me

Really was an amazing combo, still better use the SNES!! The inevitable loss was so cool! hahahaha
Even though you lost, you still kicked ass.
Yea I remember this was my fav. Game back in the day. My sister and I used to get 13+ chains like cake.. one of the games ever
Pretty sweet. My best was 24x (going by my friend's counting) a few years ago, but that was actually on a Super Nintendo. No help. :)
@Joetheevilfox
pokemon puzzle league is a bit harder, i think. everything moves a bit faster.
@alexfifita all you do is in 2 player mode push L and R on both controlers at the character selection screen
and yet...he still lost
Dude, that's epic.
@Joetheevilfox but panel de pon and tetris attack are the same thing?
Yea this is def not fake. I used to love getting those ? combos. This guy did everything I would have done.
i used to hate wen i ran out of combos, it wood take a miracle to win then.
Holy ball sack that's why I love this game
Lol this is amazing, any tips for getting better
@crappybumbum tool assisted meaning he just used an emulator and slowed it down
That's what I was thinking.
I try not to let chains go past 6 alot of times (unless there is garbage) :)
31 chain and you lose! I love this game though. Nice chain
That was a big ass block..
A 13 chain? Damn, the COM loses usually before I can get a x6. I've never seen anyone live get past a x8 chain, mainly from CPU losing.
Dude! I can't even get a long chain! I'm still working on getting at least 4 chains in a row! Lol
Gosh, this lil game man hahah. Made my head hurt like a mofo back in the day.
I love this game I got the emu for it... I cant get enough of it....
que loco lo mas que e podido hacer es 18 hits pero tu velocidad es superior jaj a jaj aajj a ja o a lo mejor era la maquina! ! ! ! ! buen combo bro. . . . .. . . . . . . . . .
Apparently I'm not as good at this game as I thought I was.
Esto si es tetris ...todo un reto y muy divertido ,tengo un supernint endo y este juego que me trae muchos recuerdos del cole....nadie me ganaba...
Wow you're good
I like how after a while it stops even the "?" when buliding the chain
But after your chain ended you should have been more concerned about breaking his blocks instead of building another chain
that was intense
WANNA VERSUS. WHO WILL CHALLENGE ME?
I actually like Planet Puzzle League, but that's not because of the features and tweaked gameplay. I like it mainly because it's portable.
@Epoq
ty, lol.
It would be around 1:10 where I would look at the first player and just set my remote down and walk away >>
I managed to get a mystery chain at level 10.
haha that's gotta suck that you threw that and then lost
AMAZING!
wow did you actually do this or was it the cpu???
@mrassis12
rofl no it's not. my brother and i used to toss epic sized garbage blocks at each other all the time playing tetris attack. blocks way bigger than these mind you.
@greatonisionfan he's brazilian. Do you know that exists foreign laguages? Not everybody says english in the world u.u
This game is for SNES.
I am really good at puzzle games (I beat the hard mode one time through a lot of work), but this video just amazed me. I couldn't do that even if I wanted to. i used to do this lol i miss this game 5/5
Omg!! So awesome
i want to get pokemon puzzle for 64 but wow how did you lose
