the term G.O.A.T. is tossed around far too often in our hyperbolic society.... but this man IS just that in the world of Shot Put. I've been in and following track for a half a century going back to the great Randy Matson which pre dated the innovative changing to the spinning/discus style and Oldfield/Barnes and this man not only crushed their throws his longevity at the top of the sport is only matched by the legend Al Oerter (4 time winner in the discus) another certified G.O.A.T.
Olympic Champion again in 2024! Congrats Ryan.

I always enjoy seeing a peep into your mind and seeing your passion and knowledge break down everything about the sport and being an athlete. I was lucky enough to throw against you in highschool a few times and watching you grow into the shotput legend that you are has been a cool journey to watch. I always knew when I first saw you throw at Concordia throws center that you were going to be the guy to break the shotput record. Good Luck Ryan. I'll be rooting for you!

I think you're in much better form than you think! Do you think that if you had a desk job you could have enough time to train and prepare to be an elite thrower? I have always wanted to throw a discus 60 meters and my sophmore year of college before Covid I was hitting around 55-57 meter throws. I gained a ton of weight, worked two jobs and ended my Jr. year overweight and in bad technique over 52 meters. Should I go for 60 meters?

I'm an NCAA shot putter and they recently changed the ruling on having your heel touch outside of the back of the ring. If I'm not mistaken they changed it because of him. It becomes a judgement call if the official believes the thrower is deliberately trying to push off of the lip.
