So what happens when you take a jump cancel, and then cancel the jump cancel? Well that's basically what this video is about! A new world of interesting possibilities is now open for the uppercut jump cancel, and for the characters that can naturally jump cancel certain moves!

This tech is actually demonstrated in tutorials. I have tried it but I thought it was something that only Johnny Cage could do because I could never get it to work during my battles. So yeah it's not really a secret. Sometimes you have to actually go through tutorials provided in-game and not just watch tutorials on RUclips. Thanks cause I now know it's available to all characters.
I already have around 800 matches in this game and have seen literally 0 people use enhanced uppercut, maybe stuff like this will start to get used in the future.
Its the curse of such an all-new technique. Give it time and people will use it. Now that you can make it extra sassy with this tech it may get much more popular

this is great timing because the other night I was practicing Sindel in Towers and the CPU Shao actually did the uppercut into fatal blow and when it did that my whole world was flipped

I still haven't made the switch to MK1, but I kinda want to now. I loved constructing new combos in UMvC3 with this; using things like jump cancel grounded supers or tiger knee specials after a launcher to bypass the restriction. It always interested me how simply pressing up for a split second essentially turned the "restricted" condition for the launcher off. It really improved my sense of combo theory in other games too. I'm glad that people who are new or unfamiliar with this tech get to experience it through MK1.
My immediate thought is this explodes Kenshi. He’s been a bit locked to Frost/Sub freeze or Cyrax chopper to get Sento stance safe in the open, but now any Kameo that can launch long enough to give him Sento and an extension is viable. Lao for the best Kameo reversal in the game? Jax for unblockables? 1100 health?? Shits crazy; can’t wait to see what people find.
Interesting. I'm wondering if they'll let this stick since they could've just made the MB uppercut recover faster if that was the goal. As it stands, the MB uppercut is pretty costly with very few uses (or at least that i've found). This could widen the range where it's worth it by getting much more damage off it or allowing you to combo into setups you couldn't before, but the whole 2/3 bar thing is certainly an issue.

Uhhh.... this was covered in Tutorials, Positioning, Anti-Air, Task 17/18, as Liu Kang. Well an example of it. But I get it, no one really wants to play those. Gotta get this information out there somehow.
oh boy, MK1 has Tiger Knee shit like Them's Fightin' herds does. My favorite is the stomp loops on Arizona, who can jump cancel her stomps and you can input another stomp in jumpsquat.
This is why I use Sonya as my Kameo. She opens up uppercut combos for half her meter. There is a slight delay before you can input again after calling her, however, if you just dash forward on the right timing it opens up combos. I can pull off my Reiko 3, 4, meter burn back forward 3, 3 into quarter circle back 3. Even w/ no meter burn you can still go 3, 4,, quarter circle back 3. I am sure there is a plethora of characters that can do the same with Sonya.
The problem i see with the uppercut is the cost. 2 bars to duck and d2 for a high scaling combo when you can just duck and 7f standing 1 for twice the damage and half the resource. Though, with that said. If Li Mei can combo her sky lantern with uppcut, ill learn this for the brutality alone.
I have to agree. For most characters, it's just too expensive on top of doing less damage. Maybe NRS will let it become a full-fledged mechanic and balance it out
I know about cancelling the pre-jump frames in SF6 to be able to avoid grabs while throwing out a 360 grab yourself, but to be able to special cancel your D2 jump cancels in MK1 will certainly add more layers to combos off of a successful D2 high punish. :o
That is amazing on Rain especially seeing as his main special is jump cancellable it will open more kameos for him that fill the gaps in his gameplan, Lao especially for that zoning and neutral or even Shujinko for all chars down the line

The Jump cancel-cancel, classic. Rain is the cancel king btw because he also has dash cancellable special moves that are really strong as of the latest patch, and of course if you really want to style you can jump cancel the dash, for a Jump cancel-cancel-dash cancel-cancel Jump. So you cancel your jump cancel just to change your mind and jump anyway. Or of course you can then cancel your pre-jump frames into another enhanced launcher and then perform another jump cancel-cancel for the forbidden jump cancel-cancel-dash cancel-cancel jump-cancel-jump cancel-cancel.
They show you how to do this in the combo challenges for a few of the characters. It’s just not optimal in most situations depending on who you’re using. But it’s good that you’re making a video to showcase the ins and outs of how to use it.
You should definitely do a video on confidence with fighting games I’ll be in the lab for hours practicing havik (main) but as soon as online load THE NERVES ARE SOOOO BAD great vid sir 🙏🏾
But if you watched later in the video you can do it for only 2 bars and still get the meter burn attack . Plus some characters have different jump cancel moves you can buffer out allowing new comfirms with kameos or special attacks

Shao Khan enhances MK1's slow-mo feeling by having kombos in which you spend extra time just watching NRS show off their mocap without actually controlling the character. Can't think of worst character, in this specific aspect, in any FG I played.
Pro Tip for Rain Enjoyers: A couple of Rain's normals can be canceled into a throw; the best one to do it with f3. If you see your opponent is ready for the double overhead, you can cancel f3 nto throw instead continue into the f32 string. Ever since I learned this, I've been catching people off-guard left and right.

I hope this tech becomes a full-fledged mechanic that they straight up just make easier to do. I'm getting the hang of it, but I'm a pad player so it's killing my poor thumb, lol
Kenshi can do the move demonstrated in this video three times in a row meterless pretty easily with this tech. It's not good damage, but pretty cool nonetheless. Im trying to see how many times I can use it in a combo.

I labbed the enhanced uppercut combos day one with the characters I planned on playing and unfortunately I came to the same conclusion on all of them, its just too damn expensive of a tool for the scaling to be that bad. I didn't realize you can special cancel straight out it, thats pretty cool, but I still don't see too many applications for this, at least for who I play, and fatal seems to do less damage then literally hitting it raw so youd be much better off micro ducking into a jab string-fatal. Last thing is that ive found you can also use ehanced uppercut against jump ins, which I found to be its most practical use if it's you chars best anti air.
This is cool and all, but to land this online, it would have to be unexpectedly since it requires a punish or counter. Due to the circumstances, I personally don't think it should require 2 bars, cause you might not know what type of combo to pull off cause you weren't expecting it to land. I'd say they just take off the counter and punish and then make it 2 bars of meter.
I wonder if liu kang db4ex which is jump cancellable but leaves the opponent grounded can actually combo into some kameos like, f43 db4ex, jcancel to sareena into another f34 db4ex sareena into his bnb

Kenshi is a character who’ll benefit bc it’ll open up his Kameos; he’s basically stuck with the freezes or Cyrax to get Sento out. This tech gives him Sento off a Jax back breaker, like what the hell? lol.
I'm assuming you have button shortcuts on that's why you do the input before you jump i believe it would be easier if you didn't have button dhortcuts no?

Really cool tech but that uppercut punish is really impractical seemingly. But that's still mad cool. Edit: Labbed it myself. The value of this tech comes from the ability to use special moves after other special moves quicker. In combos you can use this jump cancelling tech to activate your special move let's say Sento stance after rising Karma much faster. And this allows you can't do without the tech. I don't know if it's that valuable yet but there's a lot of potential
At 2 bars this tech makes shao's uppercut punish superior to the normal one using the power dunk. This is just the tip of the iceberg, once its out there people will find out a lot more

I can't seem to get any of this to work. I try super fast, I try super slow. I haven't gotten any cancel to happen. Shao is who I main and I'm not getting this to work.
Do you know what's up with the move list claiming some normals have the "cancelable on hit into jump" property? Smoke's 3 2 for example. It doesn't seem like this tech works with those. Of course it could just be lol NRS move list lies but idk
I feel dumb as I can't get it to work with Kameos, figured out with special moves at least from an uppercut, is there a trick to getting the Kameo Jump Cancels? being able to call some things early would really make life easier in some instances
Yeah I saw this when I started the game but I thought that the value of it was nothing huge for 2 bars, the only thing I see it being used for is a round ending situation where if I make this conversion I win. I also feel like the damage scaling might be too high but that's just uppercut combo scaling.

I believe it has to be an uppercut as a punish. Kinda like a down 2 crushing blow so in practice get the cpu to do a high and then use the uppercut as a counter hit. I believe there is also a tutorial for this mechanic in the game in tutorial mode as well.
Definitley something to think about but this is mostly useless imo of you’re already committing meter why would you spend kameo aswell for not much more damage
Please don't patch this NRS lol. Deeper tech is always fun to discover and master. It's not THAT broken. EDIT: Reiko's F1, 2, 4 string is JC so I'm curious to try this now lol.
Costs too much, and like pretty much every MK game, there's almost always a better option in whatever situation you're in than d2. It's an anti air for casuals. Better players are going to AA with 1 or d1 into a 20%+ combo for 0-1 bar.

About 100 matches in casuals and 35 in ranked. Have yet to see 1 Shujinko 😕

26% meterless on Shao Kahn vs 28% with three bars is just not really eat, but this technique has great potential

I figured out this happens in lots of other fighting games. I saw it most recently in DNF duel since its really common in that game

People don't understand that this tech is not about jump cancelling, it's about cancelling the jump cancels into specials or whatever (literally in the pinned comment, lol)
But it doesn't feel like a gamechanger by now. For some characters it's not a big deal honestly, like why would I use jump cancel on Raiden's 34
Kenshi is a character who’ll benefit bc it’ll open up his Kameos; he’s basically stuck with the freezes or Cyrax to get Sento out. This tech gives him Sento off a Jax back breaker, like what the hell? lol.

ROOFLEMONGER....know the way raidens eyes light up and it negates chip damage.... Are there any other hidden perks that other characters have?

I'm assuming you have button shortcuts on that's why you do the input before you jump i believe it would be easier if you didn't have button dhortcuts no?
3:05 burning 3 bars for that kind of payoff is a bit expensive
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? 9 times out of 10 My character just jumps instead of canceling into kameo even though I'm pressing in the right order??
Really cool tech but that uppercut punish is really impractical seemingly.
But that's still mad cool.
Edit: Labbed it myself. The value of this tech comes from the ability to use special moves after other special moves quicker.
In combos you can use this jump cancelling tech to activate your special move let's say Sento stance after rising Karma much faster.
And this allows you can't do without the tech.
I don't know if it's that valuable yet but there's a lot of potential
At 2 bars this tech makes shao's uppercut punish superior to the normal one using the power dunk. This is just the tip of the iceberg, once its out there people will find out a lot more

Should this work with normals that cancel into jumps like sub's b2? cant get it to work with it.
I can't seem to get any of this to work. I try super fast, I try super slow. I haven't gotten any cancel to happen. Shao is who I main and I'm not getting this to work.
Do you know what's up with the move list claiming some normals have the "cancelable on hit into jump" property? Smoke's 3 2 for example. It doesn't seem like this tech works with those. Of course it could just be lol NRS move list lies but idk

I feel dumb as I can't get it to work with Kameos, figured out with special moves at least from an uppercut, is there a trick to getting the Kameo Jump Cancels? being able to call some things early would really make life easier in some instances
if anyone can spell out to me how to make this work with kameos I would appreciate it, I can get special moves to work but kameos just never work.

i tried now jump cancels for hours , doesnt work except for one tutorial mode. i think they patched that away

Yeah I saw this when I started the game but I thought that the value of it was nothing huge for 2 bars, the only thing I see it being used for is a round ending situation where if I make this conversion I win. I also feel like the damage scaling might be too high but that's just uppercut combo scaling.
I feel like it is a good thing to have in your pocket for when you do need to convert though.
Would be nice to try this online but apparently I have a known bug that jus infinitely searches for match to never find one all my other games work, wat is this I can’t even enjoy a game I payed for
That was known from the beta but people don't use it cause it costs 2 bars.

you can't. You can only shove if kameo is already on screen
how do you get the meter burn uppercut to come out? im trying to enchance and cant even get it to come out muchless the jump cancel stuff after
I believe it has to be an uppercut as a punish. Kinda like a down 2 crushing blow so in practice get the cpu to do a high and then use the uppercut as a counter hit. I believe there is also a tutorial for this mechanic in the game in tutorial mode as well.

Definitley something to think about but this is mostly useless imo of you’re already committing meter why would you spend kameo aswell for not much more damage
Please don't patch this NRS lol. Deeper tech is always fun to discover and master. It's not THAT broken. EDIT: Reiko's F1, 2, 4 string is JC so I'm curious to try this now lol.

Costs too much, and like pretty much every MK game, there's almost always a better option in whatever situation you're in than d2. It's an anti air for casuals. Better players are going to AA with 1 or d1 into a 20%+ combo for 0-1 bar.
There were also certain characters in MK11 like Joker who could combo after an Uppercut
