    Here we are with another MK1 Guide, this time talking about Jailing! Jailing is a critically important technique in NRS games, and if you don't know, its time to learn! From stopping annoying people who do nothing but spam crouch attacks to go under your moves, to locking people down after you hit them with a fireball, the jail is a critically important technique to learn!

I find that in both this game and Street Fighter, I kind of condition myself to wake up armor attack at low levels of play because many new players just attack relentlessly. • @weee2011
    @weee2011 11 месяцев назад +2

    Dude you have no idea how much my gameplay got better from watching the “what to do against down jabbers” vid. My friends who play the game for years are really bad at explaining how things work (or just enjoy me not knowing them). They abuse one trick after another and will answer exactly none of my questions of why things work like they do. This game has A LOT of very obscure, non logical, non deductible quirks, and you can easily deduce wrong conclusions just because your input was too slow or too fast or whatever.. having someone explain those things clearly makes a HUGE difference, so thank you for that!
    Two questions i had from watching this vid is:
    1) after an unblocked down jab people are locked into standing - but can still down block?? Is that correct?
    2) after unblocked down jab - is a grab guaranteed? Cause it seems like sometime my friends can avoid it and i dont understand why - for me just ducking after down jab to avoid grab doesnt seem to work while for them it does, sometime.. is my grab input too slow? Im going nuts over this 😂

    • @rooflemonger
      @rooflemonger  11 месяцев назад

      1) yes, you will always be allowed to block no matter what and you can choose your block. 2) nothing is ever guaranteed. If they hold block you can attempt to throw them(and they can still break if they know whats up). However they can just hold down without blocking or just do nothing as you cant throw people in the animation lock state if they choose to just let it rock.

    The way I have learned to think about it coming from street-fighter is that it’s basically like moves that aren’t combo starters put you into blockstun on hit, except it’s a little stronger than blockstun because you still need to hold back to block, so you can’t buffer stuff without the risk of getting hit for not holding back. And it also usually gets to be a lot longer than blockstun or hitstun, because unlike with either of those there is no risk of an infinite combo or infinite blockstring by making it last too long.You can also think of it as a frame advantage reward on hit that is less valuable per frame than traditional hitstun but more valuable per frame than a knockdown because the mixup can come at any time the attacker wants and it is dangerous to buffer.

  • @helpimadisaster4803
    @helpimadisaster4803 11 месяцев назад +3

    There is a setting that makes the bot eat the first attack then hold block to help expose openings in strings - seems like that would have been helpful here lol
    Excellent video however, fundamentals are what MK is at its heart!

Also there has been many times where i have hit soneone and there has been this pause in the flow of the game where i have jailed someone but didnt realised to i block expecting a kounter when it was my term. To me, that sounds like they'd be able to crouch again for 4 frames (19-15). Is the 15 frame hit advantage the frames that they cannot block? Is the recovery frames where they are forced to stand = to the hit advantage? My guess is that it has to deal with the Cancel Adv but I'm not sure.
