This is ridiculous. If I called a company out to my house(plumbing, hvac, electrical, etc) and they came out and started asking me all these nonsense questions and then wanted to sit me down and discuss things that are really unnecessary while trying to act overly nice to the point where it just seems so fake and wierd I would tell them to kick rocks. Just show up, let the customer tell you the issue, do the work, get paid and leave. People appreciate that a lot more than being harassed with questions. Bottom line, you guys are just trying to upsale something to people that don’t know any better. Damn shame
Very true, but to be fair it sounds like they’re making money. I imagine we could all learn a little something from these people without totally going full slime ball
You’re very wrong. But that’s the typical view of people who think they can do what we do so they undervalue the skills and knowledge of true tradesmen. Customers absolutely want to know their options and prepare for the future so they don’t have to call us back. They want to feel informed they want to know what we’re doing they want to know everything.
@@PinnaclePlumbingAndDrains I don’t under value the skills or knowledge of a tradesman. I’m saying this because I do this job everyday. I know exactly what it takes to do it because I’m part of the “we” you’re speaking of. There’s a difference between giving a customer options and trying to absolutely sale them something they don’t need by using scare tactics. Which is exactly what these big companies do. For example, someone calls them out because their toilet is constantly running because the fill valve has gone bad and the plumber says “well actually you’re going to need a whole new toilet, I can replace everything for $475” then they pull the toilet and say “well actually the flange is broken so I’m going to have to replace that as well”. By the time it’s all said and done they have weaseled them out of close to 1000 dollars when it could’ve been a simple fix and just need a new Fluidmaster valve and maybe a flapper. 30 bucks in parts tops plus whatever labor they may charge. There’s greedy dishonest companies out there that do this stuff every day and these guys are definitely one of those. And word gets out quick about those companies. They may screw people over once but they usually don’t get called back a second time. I’m a firm believer in not taking advantage of people because a good business makes money by having repeat customers. If something is broke just fix it and go on. Don’t try to oversale or take advantage of someone. People see right through that shady way of doing business

Specifically, what kind of questions would you ask about thier plumbing system? Just how long they have lived there and if they have had any plumbing issues in the past?
