- Ever wondered what it's like to dodge alligators while grabbing your morning coffee? We kick off with a jaw-dropping tale of a Florida man hurling an alligator through a drive-thru window, setting the stage for our spirited chatter on heat tolerance in Florida. We debunk the myth that Floridians never complain about the heat, and Manny shares his secrets to finding joy amidst the sweltering sun. Lena adds a quirky twist with her mango-picking adventure, offering some juicy (literally) insights on how different folks handle the heat.
Next up, we dive deep into the perils of Florida's waters. From skin-crawling encounters with man-of-war jellyfish to the lurking dangers of flesh-eating bacteria, we’re spilling all the tea on marine misadventures. Personal tales of shark attacks and near-misses with alligators make this segment a must-listen for anyone thinking about taking a dip in Floridian waters. We discuss how to navigate these dangers, ensuring you can enjoy the beach with your limbs intact.
Rounding out the episode, we explore Florida’s extreme weather phenomena-from being the lightning capital to dealing with hurricanes. We ponder the possibility of gaining superpowers from lightning strikes (hey, a little humor never hurt anyone!) and debate which natural disaster we’d prefer to face: tornadoes, hurricanes, or snowstorms. We also stress the importance of positivity and respect within the community, urging everyone to appreciate the little blessings and to be kind, especially to our co-host Lena. So, grab your sunscreen and tune in for a wild ride through the highs and lows of life in Florida! Приколы
Can yall please hit the like for me
Hey Wicks, still don't get your notifications. I have the bell on. Anyway it's great to see yall again 😊❤
Always like before I even watch 😂
Always!
Preach! This is 1000% true.
I was raised in South Florida, (decades before most of y'all!) Yes, I'm one of the ones that used to tell everyone that complained about the heat "I was raised without A/C, none in schools, cars, etc..."
But, Lena is 100% right.. You adapt to your environment!!! I now wonder how in the heck I ever survived!!
I nearly become a hermit in the summer!
❤❤❤
You guys are great I love the podcast keep up your good work❤
I will take your word for it. Lived in Pensacola, that was enough for me.
Not me! I moved to Florida FOR THE HEAT, and I LUV IT!!!
Cardiologist said don't ride bike midday, but that's what I do (and got overheated twice)... 🤣
This is a quote from Forbes, “Last week Florida enacted a new law requiring public schools to do more to protect student athletes from heat stroke. Known as the “Zachary Martin Act”, the new law requires public schools to have a cooling tub on the sidelines at all practices and games. Defibrillators will be required and coaching staff have to learn how to recognize heat illnesses, including heat strokes, and take immediate life-saving actions.”
Wet bulb humidity and high temperatures is worse now than ever!
I have the opposite reaction up here in Michigan, I'll complain about the cold all year, you'll never hear me complain about our worst heat. Our worst heat let's you work outside for awhile before it tries to kill you, your heat attemps to get 5 you in-between the house and car!! That's your normal summer heat!
Heat & humidity in Ocala is ridiculous. I complain about the heat but I’M NOT MOVING from Florida, I love the beach too much 😑 😂
I must admit… Texas is a different type of heat! I went to Houston and almost melted literally 😩
He’s right though. I work all over Florida I was in Naples last week and found a new heat…. It was 99° and pouring rain. I live in Tampa and have NEVER felt heat like that.
💯 about Texas!!!
I'll say this grew up in Georgia and lived in Utah it was 119 one summer and it felt like 86 in the south.
I always think about my favorite invention, I’m torn between the ac and the hot water heater. 😂
I will say my grandparents had a house in page park and planted 31 trees on their property, with fans and all the shade it wasn’t too bad. I am a 70’s kid and was never inside. Last summer after the hurricane in n Fla we had to clean up my folks property and I gave myself heat exhaustion. First time in my 50 years in Florida and I don’t ever want to feel that sick again.
Water heater. If the water was hot it wouldn't need a heater.
@@1perfectpitch correct, but with out a hot water heater you have to boil the water or light a fire underneath.
Idaho, hot water heater
Phoenix, air conditioner
@@mattiemathis9549 sw Florida and I like both 😂
@@watchingthewheelsgoround260 That sure went right over your head. I'll try again. If the water is HOT it doesn't need a heater. GEEEEEZE!
When I left the service in 1979, I went to my parents' house in Marathon, Florida. I could NOT take the heat and humidity, and my Pop would never hear of air conditioning.
He said, "I didn't move to Florida to pay for air conditioning". The ironic part is he had owned a store that sold and installed air conditioners.
Humidity in Tally is no joke. Students that come from the south are even struck... no sea breeze around .. like being in the dryer with a wet quilt😂😂
I've always worked in the outside and in my 70years here I do believe I have to agree with you. I'm 5th generation Manatee native grew up and didn't have AC until I was 18 years old. And if it was HOT 😮😮
Same here. No AC until I was old enough to afford my own place. My family has been in Florida since it was a Spanish colony. No joke. I'm totally acclimated to this heat. I work in it all day. No problem.
👀whats going on in here? 😎
When my wife says “I’m hot” I always say that’s why I married you!😊
I live in SC and we have the heat + humidity and it's the worst. My sister lives in Tampa and the summer feels the same there as it does in SC.
Oh Florida got Las Vegas beat as far as heat goes 🥵🥵
We did not have AC in the '80s in West Palm Beach, Florida. Not because it was the old days. It was because we were poor as shit! No cool, no heat, no VCR, no microwave, and no cable. Everybody was talking about MTV, and I didn't have a clue what they were on about. The heater was the oven. I wouldn't change it if I could.
Man it's still hot as shit here in Bay county 35 miles from PCB
I watch all your shorts but just happened on this pod, maybe do a short saying you have one bud....
