    • @Porchlight83
      @Porchlight83 12 дней назад +6

      Actually otters arent related to mongooses. It seems like they should be, but otters are mustelids, the family that includes wolverines, badgers, minks ferrets and the honey badgers. All those creatures are no joke. Mongooses are in tge same family as meerkats, i cant remember the family name tho. But youre right, they are indeed a force to be reckoned with.

    Otters are vicious weasels - DO NOT BE FOOLED by their cuteness, especially when they travel in a pack. As a Floridian who lived very close to KSC, I speak from experience. They hiss and are territorial.

  • @sgtslaughter54
    @sgtslaughter54 12 дней назад +21

    Badgers, wolverines, otters, weasels, etc. are all pretty closely related. They're cute in a harbor. In a river they're vicious.

    • @GreyWalker-isme

      other than sea otters, (completely different animal) you won't find ANY of these animals in a harbor

    • @sgtslaughter54
      @sgtslaughter54 11 дней назад +6

      @@GreyWalker-isme Otters are in the lutrinae subfamily which is part of the mustelidae family (i.e. weasel, otters, mink, wolverines, badgers, etc.) When folks think of otters they generally think of the cute ones floating in a harbor and smashing urchin with a rock on their belly or holding hands with their mates so they don't drift away from each other in the water. Rarely would anyone think of the almost 6' Giant River Otter of the Amazon that has no known actual predators.
      I'm gonna say that last bit again. An otter that lives around jaguars, cougars, anacondas, caiman, piranha, and sometimes electric eels and stingrays has no real natural predators or major threats to their lives besides humans.
      My point is, mustelids are all very similar. They're all bloodthirsty, but we're usually only thinking about them holding hands in the water instead if dragging gators back to its den for lunch.
