  • This is a good place to start building your skills with metal working! These rocker panels are pretty straight forward to make. If you doubt your ability to metal work give it a try!

The door gap is 👌and no adjustments. The way you had the quarter positioned at the start of the video looked like it was already wielded in 👍

btw a way i seen they used to match doorgaps was by welding on acethylene weldingrod to the edge using the mig welder and grind it to the right gap than flatten it to the rest of the sheetmetal
btw theres nothing wrong about taking a piece of sandpaper on a block to flatten the last bit of weld , most of the time it gives a better result though it takes more work

I've seen guys use sand paper on an orbital to finish out the metal working process. But Ive not seen any one use a block to finish metal. I'll be using my sanding blocks to do the body work portion of it though.
I to have seen guys do door gap adjustment with the welding rod. I've been studying other 40 series builds and am thinking my gaps are pretty close to an original fj40. Sounds like you have built a couple cars. What car projects do you have on the go? This is my 4th classic vehicle build and I really enjoy the process. I spent a lot of time as a kid in the garage with my dad restoring old classics and muscle cars that's where my love for this hobby started. Thanks for watching I appreciate the feed back.

@@dadstoygarage1878 i havent done sheetmetsl work to the extreme like youre doing now but i heve been interested in metalworking since a verry young age watching lots of youtube vids from guys that know how to work metal and the metalshaperforum , i done smaller rust repair , welding in replacement sheetmetal patches and stuff like that and have been a paintprep / paintsprayer for a while
have worked a lot on the mecanical side , done an engine / suspension / interiour upgrade , and a few budget engine rebuilds , allthough i would like to try a rebuild like youre doing i know that i will loose motivation halfway intoo the build (busted fingers cuts and muscle ackes tent to do that a lot lately now that im getting a little older )
still like to watch youtube vids on the subject and give some advice or mention things / tricks / tools ive seen used
the sandpaper thing on a block works it just takes a lot of time and makes the weld smoother than a angle grinder and flapper wheel would as it just whont dig intoo the metal , need to use metal sandpaper (the fabric backed stuff)
dont know if i ever take on a project like youres as driving a car like that in the netherlands will stretch my budget a little to far
i do drive a tiny tiny ellectric car(t)

thats verry cheap in maintanance "fuel" and insurance and it gets me to where i need to go while staying dry , if i decide to build my own body it likely be sumting like that one of these years , maibe a cross between a toyota landcruser and a postman pat van ichef.bbci.co.uk/images/ic/1920x1080/p08s67m3.jpg
