How To Play Dance The Night Away By Van Halen - Quick And Easy Guitar Lesson

  • In this video I demonstrate how two play Dance The Night Away by Van Halen. This is a great song and one of my favorite Van Halen riffs of all time. It was on their second album (Van Halen II) and was the 2nd track featured on the LP. I feel this song showcases Eddie's true pop and rock sensibilities and was a forecast for the many great riffs and songs yet to come from EVH himself. This lesson is a quick and easy demonstration of how to play the main riff in the song as well as the cool middle section with the taped harmonics. I hope you enjoy the video. Please subscribe!

    I was 13 years old in the summer of '79, was at a record store with my young friends, and a older kid named David put VH II in my hands and said to me "buy it"! I was instantly impressed by the front cover art then flipped it over to the backside and was floored looking at the pictures.. who was that long haired guy with the sexy nurses?!? The guy with the striped guitar, the bass player and drummer guy?! Without knowing anything about VH, I did. Took it home gave it a spin, wore the needle out playing it front to back. It forever changed me.

      I have a similar story. My mom was taking me to the record store to buy my first album. I had no idea what to get. The older kids across the street said to get Van Halen, Women and Children First. That was soon followed by AC/DC Dirty Deeds and then Rush Moving Pictures. 😂👍

      I had just turned 14, the summer of 79. What's funny is my first memory of hearing this was in my dad's car, as he was driving me to baseball practice to Koch Park.
      How that memory has stuck with me, is just crazy.

      VHII slowly became my favorite album of theirs over a long time. I think the mixing on the album turns a few people off as the guitar sometimes sounds a little underwhelming compared to other albums. But for my money the cover of "No Good" may be one of the coolest Van Halen songs ever. I could listen to that song and Dance the Night Away on repeat.

      @Ranch5150SkinWalker  Год назад +3

      My tabs are references to blend with the live performance. I write my tabs after I record. It's kind of a loose thing much like how Eddie plays. Ultimately learning the chords and phrasing is much more critical than tabs. So I encourage ear training and letting your ear guide you. I try to get everyone in the ball park. That's the best way to learn. 😎🤟🏻
