Hi! I’m in seventh grade, and I have a question. I recently wrote a book, and do you think that top schools will care if I continue to write more? Also, what would be a good extra curricular for business administration. Thank you ♥️
would you suggest i craft my ecs to tell a story, even if it means choosing the less "impressive" ecs? or could i not tell a story but put more traditionally liked ecs like research and internships and projects, etc? because I'm sorta interested in so many things so im worried aos might think im not focused and stuff but it's really just that i'm really curious. like in my app i have cs, speech & debate, creative writing, music, etc. things that are wildly different. i'm worried this doens't tell a story like they can't label me as one thing they're say "oh they do like a million different things" so i'll get rejected. you told a great story through your ecs. i'm not sure if i can do the same 😭the curious coder who likes to find their own voice through public speaking but also likes music like what congrats on all your acceptances and if you could give me some help with this i would greatly appreciate it!
Hi! I think you could definitely find a way to connect all of these, and it’s not a bad thing to have a lot of interests, especially if you’re excelling in each of them. I wouldn’t say choose less impressive ecs just for the purpose of making a story-though i think it’s definitely possible to make traditionally impressive ecs somehow fit into your theme. Remember that you have supplemental essays on top of the common app so there’s lots of room for you to build different themes. Try to think of one theme that unites all your interests or your theme could even be the fact that you are curious and explorative. There’s definitely a lot of creative ways you can stand out as an applicant with varying interests. Just do what you’re truly passionate and good at and it’s bound to set you apart in both your essays and your interviews!
