I stopped calling it a junk drawers decades ago... I call it my utility drawer. It stays neat and tidy. I think it was the name change that helped with it

Hellooo Karen! How absolutely wonderful to see you. I’ve been playing bit of a catch up on your videos, oh my, our house has been taking so much of my time, we had dreadful leak in our bathroom, came through the ceiling light,down the walls etc, such a mess. Such a clean up! We’ve had to have a complete re do of the bathroom, ceiling in our living room is still to get done, it’s been an absolute nightmare. Anyhow, the leak is sorted which is a blessing, next is the staircase replacement which had been planned prior to this, my nerves are jangled to say the least. Anyhow, what a treat to have 4 videos of my beautiful friend to catch up with! Your friend has done really well, she’s shown how you just have to get it done, I must admit I use the word Brutal each time I do out a drawer, each pass this time is definitely done without fear of ‘I might use it’ 👍🏻

"Utility drawer" always seems a nicer name for a drawer that is useful, not at all filled with "junk." Glad you were able to help a friend. And yes, live in the house to find out how to live there..

I have two of those spice cabinets as uppers!! One on each side of the stove...I literally don't use them. The vent hood prevents me from putting in there. In her case, I would likely only use the top one. I don't like bending down that low for things that are small. I love the story of how you came across a man and his dog in need of exactly what you were getting rid of! He will never forget that. :)

I love these "helping friends declutter" videos! Also I too have an Everything Book. It started as a budget book, then I added decluttering challenges and inventory lists etc. Now I still budget but also add other info I want to refer to that year.

Karen, I hope you are appreciating just how far along in your decluttering journey you have come when someone calls you "brutal". Do you even remember when it was hard for you to make decisions about getting rid of things? AMAZING!!! Your decluttering muscles have gotten so strong. You did a good job, but I laughed when I saw birthday candles in the drawer. I live in Texas, those candles would be melted, I store mine in the refrig.

I have been helping my sister declutter and organize. Whats great is I am there every week so I do a quick reset and see what worked and what didn't. This has also motivated me to work on areas of my home that I have neglected. Karen watching how you guide and help has helped me be not so pushy. Thanks for all your gentle but firm encouragement!

I love my spice drawer! I bought the spice jars that fit & labels and refilled all of my spices. The jars that were left, put in pantry to refill as needed. It was fun to do, and looks good

For the push pins, cut a size of old cardboard to size for them. I keep them in my tool bag I bought for my stuff.

I have no junk drawer! Tools in tool box, batteries in a special tub in a cabinet, paper and pens in desk. On side of fridge is grocery pad with pen attached. Spare keys in key cabinet. I have NO keys that are not known/tagged!!
