I have always thought that Jeff is one of the all time greats. He can play anything on the guitar. He is also a patriot having served his country for years.... Jeff is a national treasure!
Jeff's work for the US Department of Defense and DARPA; expecially in innovative technical applications for missile defense systems back in the late 1980's and early 1990's, does make Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter a "national treasure".
Having played this song with Jeffrey, Mary Ann Redmond and Mike Ault, in DC, it is not easy, Hank did a good job. Jeff is a masterful player, kind, most generous with his time and talent….and good friend. Glad someone posted this.
This guy is a legend yes a legend of music. If you ever see him have a tear in your eye as he is one of the greatest 100 musicians of all time and for me in the top ten -who knew?
I'm fascinated by people who say these guys should retire. Damn it, they created these songs. They evolve from the original and what we forget is their entitlement to portray their creations as they see fit. I forget which member of Yes - maybe Chris Howe - replied to a comment that anyone could play their songs but he asked the question, maybe, but could you write it? Today's music lacks freedom, the ability to interpret it as you feel at the time. Baxter is a rare genius, such an intelligent man. Give him the credit he deserves.
I saw Jeff Baxter, close to forty years ago, with the Doobie Brothers. He had one of his legs in a cast, and sat through the whole show and never missed a note. I wonder if it was an accident that led to his increasing need to sit during gigs. Anybody know?🎸👑🎸
From what I recall him saying is that it came from his study of guitar and the best way to play it is sitting down. Also wire head set on stage to protect his ears. It worked!
Another moron that compares a live version to the studio recording which takes hundreds of hours to perfect and tweaking by a sound engineer as well as overdubbing and multiple layering and mixing. This guy did a pretty damn good job ON the vocals. If you want to hear a perfected version, then just listen to the damn studio track for crying out loud.
little bit gilmourish at the beginning .thats a good thing.the i guess they would be called "open chord voicings" 5:38 on the keys is great...so airy.fantastic job
this guy has a name. it's hank horton and he is singing the song his own way and it's the right way to do so. the parrot cage is somewhere else. go and find it. 😂😂😂

And then some!
I was there. Great night. It’s stories and music. 👍 He plays for the love of playing.
Love the steely Dan, got 6 or 7 great old LPs in my cabinet from the late 70’s and early 80’s.
I’m 70 , still listening to much of the old favorites
You youngun! I'm 72!.

Saw Buddy Guy at the Coach House. Great venue.
I like it😊
Young Skunk plays wildly for Spirit on live version of Got a Line on You. Check it out, great video.
Oh WILD. I am stuck in 1984. Same same
one of the greatest solos ever.
But not this version ...
James Raymond. He is brilliant!
very cool

Sorry buddy skunk didn't create this song haha it was Fagen and Becker. Nice try though
@@jm12green31 I never said that he did. I was speaking about guys their age.
Such a great Oscar Peterson story!!

Wore*
doesnt sound like he used to but he's one of the greats of that era, absolutely, do it again fantastic solo
Is that David Crosby’s son James Raymond on keys?
Yes. Saw this set in NYC in November
He’s playing with David Crosby’s son James Raymond 🎉
Sounds great...except the vocals don't quite do it for me. No offense. There's only one Donald Fagen.
Exactly.
He almost sounds like Neil Sedaka.
not very well mixed, either, that bass is drowning everything
Sounds like a Bar singer!

Гитарный звук, хотя и сбоку, хорош..
Mike Ehrmantraut on bass and vocals?
It looks like him but its Hank Horton on Bass
It was Heisenberg .
@@jackwezesa1081 Don't think so unless he had plastic surgery?😆
It’s just a bald guy. Mike’s dead.
It's Hank Horton give the guy some credit! He is a fine bass player. Look him up. 🎸
RIKKI . . . 4:15
I like to just see where it goes. Now watch me play the same exact solo from the record, but not as good.
"LOOSE"? It's *LOSE. Rikki don't *LOSE that number.
Good catch! Fixed now. Thanks!
Bass player got nice tummy....🏋♀
These intros are tedious and then there’s those vocals.
Way far from the original!
This guy can't sing this song

Ricky lost that voice unfortunately but still has the number... Yeah sorry folks not a big fan of this even though skunk is the man
Wow these guys are old and they look like a cover Band of 70 year olds. Time to retire guys.
Não diga isso TheMValentino. Pura inveja........Esses caras são sensacionais, maravilhosos, lendas da música americana.........
play the song already
