This man will forever have my respect. I went to see them in concert. While they were playing their set, I got sick. He stopped playing and made sure that I was taken care of. That shows true genuine care and empathy towards your fans. I will never forget that. Please continue to feel better and create the fantastic music that you do.
I was 11 when I first heard Fat Lip from a Flipagram and I guess I fell in love with the song. Joined the Skumfuks ever since. That was just about a year or something after all that alcohol stuff happened, and to this day I'm still surprised that Deryck was addicted to alcohol especially now that he's a lot more healthier than he ever was before.
Just came back from his concert. Tour Of The Setting Sum - Malaysia on March 5 2024 and he was magnificent. The way he moved his body. His stamina, his focus, his determination, his charisma. This guy is a hero. He will be forever immortalized. If Mick Jagger can survive, he will survive. What a rockstar. Amazing performer.
I went through the exact same thing as Deryck in 2013 at 30. I've got mad respect for him and wish him the best. Coming from the same background as a musician but obviously not as big as Sum 41 it's hard to stay clean in that scene. It's been two years no booze and life is good. Keep hanging in there man it's a hard road but takes balls to walk.
The best interview with Deryck that I've ever seen! Amazing hoster and interviewer. Great questions! I loved that he opened up to her and said so many interesting things and I can say that I like him even more now!
I heard the whole album it has leaked, I already preorder the album and a shirt, but i just couldn´t wait to hear it and i have only one thing to say: THANK YOU VERY MUCH SUM 41
Deryck, your fans, we love you and are so happy you made it through what you went through and it's not cheesy, don't be embarrassed to be who you are and we all love who you are, we got your back
I saw Deryck fall. A long lost sum41 fan. But I saw Deryck rise. Which makes him my hero. Not much of a drinker, but i'm 7 years clean from heroin. And its because of Deryck.
As an icu nurse, this is crushing to hear. I couldn’t imagine what I’d do to see an idol in the hospital, and what I’d do to push them to make it better for not only themselves, but for everyone else who loves and adores what they’ve done for the people that have touched their lives.
Gotta say she’s a brilliant interviewer, seems very caring and really wants to hear his answers! so many interviewers nowadays just wait for their chance to speak, so I love this lady. Nice to hear this honesty from Deryck too.
i too quit drinking at 28 and thought my life was over, and then i learned it was actually really just beginning. and i now have 12 years sober and 8 off of drugs and self harm. i am so grateful to have music like his to help me stay alive and sober another day. thank you Derek and Sum 41
I am glad that I watched this! As another musician, now at 4 years and 2 months clean, I can relate to his experiences and feelings very well! Thank you, Derek! 🙏👏🙌
He’s a hero to me. Before I understood his life. I was a kid with Sum 41 in my ears, and I always remember that being everything to me. Some kids play sports, they play video games. I did that, too. But I had bands in my ears at all times. I’ll always be in debt to Deryck and the band for easing the suffering of just being a kid. My life wouldn’t be the same without him. He knows that. That’s amazing. I started playing music because of this man. The fever in my heart could not stop. I had to make music and remember all my favorite bands. Sum 41 is forever one of my inspirations. His strength later in his life just confirms that we can still be kids and never grow up. We’re just taking better care of ourselves now
Great interview.. alcoholism is no joke.. the withdrawals are so bad they can literally kill you! 13 voices is such a great comeback album too.. better then Blink and Green Day this year.
such respect to deryck for being so open and honest about what he's been through such an inspiration to others who struggle or struggled with addiction or just people going through tough times. Have always loved sum 41. Deryck is why I love punk rock and maybe rock/metal in general. wish I could see them live stay strong deryck true fans will stand by you always. loving the music 💜
Yup this woman is a great interviewer. Most people could learn from her. To get such a great conversation out of a sensitive topic takes talent. Good on her. Hope she is excelling in her career!
I've been battling alcoholism for years it's probably the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and I still don't have a grip on it I really don't like AA meetings but listening to this gives me hope
About a year ago now, I went to a meet and greet and met the whole band. Yes it made me nervous walking around that corner and seeing my favorite band, but they are all very kind, and they were just like how I imagined they would be. Thank you Derek for not stopping your fight for the sickness because now we got the new album coming out called Order In Decline. I am so exited!😆
I been following Sum 41 since all killer no filler album and I have mad love for these guys. Deryck you’re the man keep on keeping on and do what you do brotha. You guys are my favorite band of all time. Glad you’re feeling better brotha. SUM 41 ROCKS
A fantastic interviewer and a fantastic interview. It's great to see how far Deryck has progressed in the near 3 years since this was released. Mad respect to the guy and to the rest of the band for sticking at it and creating some amazing material for their latest 2019 release.
Deryck is surprisingly articulate for a guy who's been hard at work trying to kill half his neurons. If he'd kept drinking he could have gone into politics :) Glad he's well though, Sum 41 kicked ass--Chuck has to have been one of the best fucking albums ever.
This is an amazing interview. Also mad respect to Deryck in this interview. Some of these questions are very tough deep and he’s being a complete open door. He could’ve said to some of them no don’t want to talk about that but no he answered genuinely and true. I’m glad he’s well and look forward to seeing him live this summer.
What a great interview.. I wish Deryck Whibley all the luck in the world and a continue healthy life...Oddly enough I just heard We're all to Blame earlier this week from my 12 yr old Nephew for the 1st time lol.. I'm in my late 40s and I love that song , and so many others of Sum 41.. Better late then never.. Best of luck to him and the band..The interviewer was great, she kept it real nice...Good luck to them all.. Angie
When I saw that picture of him, not in the hospital bed but the one where he was like at some party with his girlfriend and he had that classic alcoholic "face" where your face just gets really puffy for some reason, I legitimately thought he was gonna be one I like turned on the news one day to find out he died. Him being alive is kind of a miracle in other ways, too. He also should be representative of the fact that if you have a problem no matter how bad it is, you can get better.

Sum41 was my first favorite punkrock band and got me into harder metal music, I will never forget them. they helped me see the world differnetly and stand up to life standards I don't agree with. Glad Deryck is better now
Candy is a really good interviewer. She seems to have a real knack for asking the right/relevant questions. And watching this interview makes me respect Deryck even more. It was so interesting to hear the story/stories.
Met you in 2013 in LA at a bowling alley. You were nice enough to take picture with me. You're looking way better now. Glad to see that. Love the new album.
Saw Sum41 in San Fran when I was like 13, back during the “Does this Look Infected?” tour. (Maybe 2003?) First Big Rock show and they killed it. Glad he is doing well again.
Amazing interview. Really really informative and brilliant questions. Good luck to Deryck in the future and I guess I’m gunna have to catch up with what Sum 41 is doing!

👌You rock girl!

I agree, she really stands oot as an exceptional interviewer
@@QwithTomPower i agree, that was an interesting interview, far from the ones i've seen until then ... good job !
So proud of deryck. Been a fan since chuck, only 19, and followed the band ever since. And I'm so glad he and sum 41 is back!!!!
Nice you're also a A7X fan, your taste in music is indeed awesome :D

Never knew anything about Deryck Whibley. I have HUGE respect after hearing this interview. He gone through hell and still standing. God bless you bro
So sad to find out his closest friends split when things for bad for him. That sucks
The best interview with Deryck that I've ever seen! Amazing hoster and interviewer. Great questions! I loved that he opened up to her and said so many interesting things and I can say that I like him even more now!
Candy is exactly what an interviewer should be- interested, compassionate, asking thoughtful questions that remain sensitive. Truly impressed.
Deryck always comes across as very grounded, calm and collected. I wish him all the best, I love Sum 41

Rest in peace Candy. What a fantastic interviewer that the world lost way too soon.
so sad, she was soooo amazing on how she used to interview
What happened? If true that’s actually very sad
She's really good as an interviewer and Deryck is so inspiring man.

This sounds cliche but this band really helped me through a hard time and that's something I can never pay back.
It's not cliche. Like Marilyn Manson said "music is the strongest form of magic."
Deryck we need you! Sum 41 is my #1 favorite Rock Band!
First time listening to Candy. Love her interview skills!
