Shadowheart really has a lot of nerve expecting other people to be honest while she dodges every question with the grace of a fucking elephant. I get that mid/late game information explains this, but early game she's just straight up a hypocrite.
The moment I came upon Shadowheart going "Oh, don't worry about this COOL MAGICAL RELIC" in a life-and-death situation on an Illithid ship in another plane, I pretty much instantly killed her and stole the bauble (I did do the generosity of reviving her). I loved that even after the crash, it assumes she still has the relic.
@@Hypersaiyanike thats like the whole thing about her character early on is that she's manipulative. she even tells you outright when she asks you about taking the wyvern poison and no matter what you say she berates you. but if you call her on that she congratulates you for not letting her manipulate you. she's not a hypocrite. she doesnt actually believe you shouldnt keep secrets from her. she's just trying to guilt you into giving yours up so she has more power.
I love how Gale was just happy that his theory was correct, if not a little hurt about not being confided in. But Karlach's "Astarion?!" Is hilarious, like he is a cat that just knocked off a glass.
You just met Gale, walked like 20 feet over in one direction, bit a mind flayer, and he's like "Hmmm i've had my suspicions about you for some time now"...

There's some dissonance with timescale with respect to overland adventuring and actual time. I think the assumption was that you'd take a lot more rests than you might actually do.
@@JJ-qo7th You're right. Apparently the game takes place over 4+ months, at least, according to Withers. So even though you can do all of Act 2 without resting once, you still spent weeks there story-wise.

But I play a Lore bard and I beeline Aura of Vitality/Warden of Vitality. 2d6 healing each round as a bonus action for ten rounds is just *ridiculous*, and I main-healed proper sit-down campaigns as a Lore bard (with a single level dip in Life cleric).
Because she knows full well she can delete him with ease. He isn't a threat, undead or not, and plots gotta plot. Imagine picking Origin Astarion, and then everybody tells you to get bent, because Tav isn't there to tell everybody to get along.

Yup xD I'm playing Karlach right now and had the scene of Astarion trying to feed on me, woke up in the morning confronted with the other people in camp, and just told them: "If you don't like it, you're free to leave." I did hold the same attitude for Gale, when his secret came out, and didn't make a fuzz about the Shar-worship either, naturally.
I love when Gale (with his bomb), Wyll (with his patron), and Shart (with her religion), before telling you about those secrets, have the nerve to lecture you about not keeping secrets. lol
In all honesty, you know about wyll pact from the start based on the fact that he is a warlock. Meanwhile Gale is a fool. Shadowheart is a hypocrite indeed, in basically everything. Result of being brainwashed i suppose.

I think the companions are all concerned about how you’ll react to their secrets. They probably just don’t want to be cast out of the group or treated differently because of that.
Shadowheart is the absolute *last* person who gets to complain about members of the party keeping secrets from her. She would be just fine not telling anyone that she's a Sharran, yet throws a fit if you even try to not tell her something.
You have a pleasant little chat to either of the boys in the first night at camp and she’s like “wat were you two talking about? Tell me everything. You can’t trust them “ . I hate that. Why should we trust her if she’s not willing to do the same for everyone else? Like i know she has the reasons but so does Astarion and he becomes an open book after three days. Sure he’s pretending but he’s at least trying, at least enough to tell us pretty much anything we ask. :)

i'm romancing wyll in my astarion origin playthrough and when astarion told him hes a vampire spawn wyll just laughed at him and told him that it was obvious 😭
Much less effort was put in here than with most of the game's dialogs it seems. It's almost like they didn't expect that many people to play any origin character besides Durge so they kind of phoned it in. I mean with the fact that you haven't even been in the camp, seemingly (based on choice of target) revealed yourself within seconds of recruiting most characters, targetted a mindflayer, and also Sharts "no secrets" bollocks.
If only there was a chance Tav could be like: "no shit sherlock, i allready know my love." Larian cann't tell me that it is not just a campy Joke that all the charakters are to dense to know what he is. 😂😂
That is literally an option. If you get far enough in the game with few enough long rests, he will straight up tell you, and Tav can reply with: "Yeah, it was kind of obvious." Astarian's expression of surprise at your nonchalance is adorable.
I love Shadowhearts pure bitchiness and audacity in the first hour or so of gameplay, constantly wanting you to reveal just about everything about yourself, but will start calling you names the second you want to know simple shit about her. Sure, other people keep secrets, but they're not nearly as flighty and just rude about you asking simple questions, Gale feels bad hes kept his nuke from you, but Shadowheart acts like shes giving you a gift when she finally reveals mundane stuff. It goes away quickly, but i know people who wrote her off cause of it.
it's revealed at your first long rest (or at least, if you have nothing else more important to be shown). You wake up as he's about to bite you. He'll even sneak into your camp to do this if he's not with you.

I must have gotten too far away from the starting area before long resting, since Shadowheart made some comments during my first long rest that made me think I might be on a time limit. Also, I somehow completely managed to miss every clue that the tadpole was unusual until I got to the goblin camp.
@@mattc9598 ...On any other run, that'd be the case, but this is about Astarion origin runs. The game doesn't force you to bite anyone at night when you're playing as him, and if you do choose to bite someone during that scene you can pass a stealth check to not get noticed (so long as you don't try to bite Gale or Karlach). I don't know how long you can go without revealing it - on my first Astarion origin playthrough I had him *tell* them instead of it coming out like that, and on my second they found out thanks to Gandrel - but you certainly can keep the secret way past where the bite scene would happen normally.

I do find it funny that they try to keep it a "Secret" as if it isn't painfully obvious to everybody from the very second they meet Astarion that he's a gay vampire
