We're thrilled that you've enjoyed your flight! Thank you for the kind words and the Seal of Excellence ✈ ! Cheers to the mind behind the game Luc Rémond as well as to the talented artists behind the game, Adrien Rives and Eric Hibbeler !🙂
I love it when publishers include modules in the game, they add so much variety and replay-ability! We've gotten so accustomed to expecting stuff like this in the form of expansions (which can get pricey) so Scorpion Masque definitely deserves the praise for providing such a quality product, with tons of content, while ensuring they're not breaking the bank for consumers.
@@DTChrisYithank you so much Chris 🤩 great review 👍 I don't know if it's done in the video (sorry for my english) but we can name our great artists Éric & Adrien 👍
The game actually encourages you to communicate quite a bit, but you're supposed to do so in the way the immerses you in the game. Before dice are roilled and placed you're allowed to discuss overall strategy like "I think we should try to level out the plane on this turn", or "Let's start going through our landing gears if we can". You're only not allowed to talk about the dice themselves because they dont want the game to just be a boring and non-thematic numbers game like "okay i will put 6 here if you put 4 there, okay cool this is so fun." The non-communication rules are there to discourage metagaming and reducing the game to dull strategy and quarterbacking. You don't speak during the placement because it's supposed to all be happening at once, and it also stops players from shouting out in the middle of the round that their co-pilot has placed a bad die somewhere. Really good game when played correctly.
Sky Team is an outstanding experience! It's also nice to see more wooden components being used in board games (again), but considering the fragile nature of tiny pieces, dear publishers, please, be prepared to provide or sell spares! One of my airplane tokens arrived broken, the publisher doesn't sell any replacement parts, so I had to recreate and 3D-print it myself.
One of the Things i love about Spirit Island is being able to set your own difficulty. So the most appealing part from the review is hearing you should be able to win out of the Box but then increase difficulty to what right for you and your mood on the day. Having played several co-op that are designed to be so hard to win as the only way to keep it relevant. This looks like it might be for me
this game looks awesome. as a fan of Flight Simulator computer games, this looks up my alley. I have to say though, if in real life pilots and co-pilots can't talk to each, i ain't getting on the plane 😆
This is the one that got away at GEN CON. The lines were just too much! But I will keep it on my Wish List. I think my wife and I would really enjoy it.
@@DTWendy that is totally fair! This game does seem like a fun one that hits a sweet spot of quick and thinky coop for two (even if the theme still throws me for a loop!). I’ll be on the lookout for it when it releases.
I personally reserve a 'best tagline ever' to any riff on 'I used to be an adventurer but then I took an arrow to the knee' or 'I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum'... but, I'll take this as a close second :-D
I'm picking this up for sure, but the no communication bit is going to soooo piss off actual pilots since communication is the really important among real life flight crew.
This is my Game of the Year. So much fun and so cleverly designed in all the ways covered here. I'm just not sure why they didn't rank it higher than 8.5 because it's a solid 10! No flaws (I even don't normally enjoy co-op games)
I think it would be helpful to understand why a board game is 8.5 and not a 10. What could this game have done differently to reach a 10? I heard no criticisms during the review so I'm not sure why it got this score.
B team up. They have been shifting this past year to branch out... When Sam left, I was still on board. Liked Mike. He grew on me. Now he's on there occasionally. I skip the first min or two to see who is in it and then just close it if it's not the people I am looking for.
Forget "Airplane", I want to see a "Die Hard II" event where John McClane has to light up the runway with the a terrorist plane. Have a 3rd tracker for dead terrorists, damaged plane and the like.
Game was ok at best imo. I'm just sick of the "limited communication" gimmick so many games do now. Just make better mechanics and stop the "yOu CaNt TaLk hEHe!" nonsense

As someone who loves planes, seeing that tilt piece for the first time as Chris tilted it, brought a big smile to my face, that is amazing.
“I am serious…and don’t call me Shirley.”
Played yesterday and was blown away by the elegance of the design and rewards. Looking forward to trying other modules.
Thank you so much 😊
For future reference, the publisher's name is pronounced Scorpion Masqu'Hey. The final é is pronounced Hey. It means Masked Scorpion in french. (7:54)
I'm so excited to finally have a game i like that Wendy Yi does as well! I was starting to lose hope lol
One in a million. 😂

Hahah. When I first saw the artwork on the box, I thought it was a reference to the Mr and Mrs Smith tv show. 😂
I'm only here for the Airplane! references.

I know that Chris came up with the title because is a great reference to one of the best comedies.
I appreciate you thinking so highly of me, however that's the fine craftsmanship of one, Mike DiLisio. And don't call me Shirley 🙂
Chris and Wendy both liking a dice game is shocking!
I always say I'm down for rolling dice and then making decisions. Don't make me roll dice to see if I made the right choice.

Rolling on the floor is considered GAME OVER in this one 😅
They missed a prime opportunity to name and theme the game "Flashbang in the Cockpit!"
Game is really easy in the beginner mode (green destinations), starts to get hard with the red destination cards.
Bravo au Scorpion MasquÉ!
