    This is the highest mark ever given to a model aircraft kit. He painted it before putting the lower half and wings on and with a PERFECT fit. Boys you can't do that with any kit I've ever seen and I've been at it for over 35yrs! Well done Tamiya absolutely incredible.

      You are right! You should see how precise the engine compartments fit together and then fitting the several exhaust and intake manifolds together; then connecting the various engine segment together is remarkable. From the rear firewall to the cowl flaps to the twin row R-2800 radial to the engine cowl inspection hatches to the front cowl, they all line up perfectly and slide into place without a wobble. These components built in sections, come together perfectly. It is amazing.
      And this plane is built with the ability to easily display or enclose the engine. The engine cowl inspection hatches fit snuggly without clue and one can remove these cowl hatches depending on their mood or the phases of the Moon.
      I fitted the engine with home-made spark plugs and ignition wires. It was a little work, but worth it. Also I bought the 3D cockpit instrument panel decals.
      This cockpit is hyper detailed in the out-of-the-box configuration. With the 3D decal kit, it is almost an exact replica of a full size Corsair. It is hyper-correct.
      I build my aircraft with figures in the cockpit and in this case, used the figure that came with the kit. He turned out nice and when I finally assembled the two major cockpit components, the control stick fit right into the pilots hands perfectly and his feet were on the rudder pedals in perfect position. This occurred without me ever thinking about it while I slid the rear cockpit assembly into the front cockpit assembly. It was perfect and just amazing the pilot was grabbing the stick perfectly and his feet were setting on the pedals just as one would expect.
      After fighting a previous build of a Trumpeter 1/32 Corsair, this build is an endorphin filled adventure when fitting parts together and joining separate major component sections.
      I could kiss the Tamiya designers, whereas I wanted to toss the Trumpeter model and kick the Trumpeter designers in the ass.

    I have always thought that the F-4U Corsair had such a unique wing design and it's profile coming head-on is very cool looking. I always liked that about it when I used to watch Bla Bla Black Sheep (with Robert Conrad) on NBC back in the day. Great technique and paint job displayed here. Your skill with paints and models is very inspiring. My other favorite plane is the P-38 Lightening--again, great overall design and unique as well. Thanks for the video!👍🛩

    Lovely build! This seems to only happen to me so I'm quite curious. When I use Tamiya's extra thin cement on a part that has been painted, it seems to just take off the paint and then not glue the pieces together well. It seems to only work on surfaces that have no paint on them so I have trouble after painting some parts and then trying to glue them on...

    • @justinmorgan2126
      @justinmorgan2126 2 года назад +4

      You never put glue over paint, they way the glue bonds requires that the plastic be "naked". I usually wash my kits in soapy water before taking them off the sprues just to be sure they are clean.
      "At the beginning, it is easier to paint the smaller parts on the sprue and to remove them only after they have dried - paint can be touched in after the parts are finally joined. Note: Do not apply paint to the mating surfaces where you will eventually apply glue. Additionally, you can make holders for yourself, for example using clothes-pegs, cocktail sticks pushed into foam (or similar) or you can secure your ‘handle’ onto areas that cannot be seen (such as the underside of a seat), even on a piece of waste sprue"

      @@justinmorgan2126 Ah I see. It always looked like the surface they put glue on also had some paint on it but guess not lol

    • @jprules2578
      @jprules2578 2 года назад +1

      Anytime I need to get paint off a joining surface I'll have a lightly thinner(per paint type)moistened stiff cotton swab and just clean off the surface with that before cementing. Sometimes regular rubbing alcohol to clean after that as well.

I would also seek out the aftermarket upgrades/ resin kits to the model like the engine . One other question. Which variant had the 3 props or the 4 props and why did they alternate 3 to 4 props. The deep navy blue was always my favorite on Naval Aircraft

    Who is "Romain Hugault"? A man or an aftermarket items business?
    How do 3D decals work? Do they have in them a substance like cellulose that brief exposure to warm water causes to expand?
    Your video is so much fun (if wistful) that I watched it again. I so wish I could build my own (that is a long story!). Thank you so much!
    Years past had I built round a half-dozen Tamiya 1:48th-scale Chance Vought F4U Corsair USN/USMC/FAA Fighter kits in different variants. They (as well as other Tamiya kits) were astonishing, joyous, and thrilling to build, to detail, to paint, to weather, and to display! Ohhhh, how I so keenly wish I could afford a dozen of these!

    Why do people think aircraft were allowed to sit around looking shitty? From 42, when we entered the war, to about 44 when we got the Axis on their back foot, airplanes SOMETIMES were allowed to get seedy. If you know anything about the Marines there is always a bucket of paint and some privates with not quit enough to do and corporals who need to be watching something. Idle Marines are unhappy Marines and unhappy Marines are bad for morale. The AAC and Navy stopped painting their aircraft because the paint was dead weight and unwanted drag.
    POL leaks HAVE TO BE FIXED! Pilots like to know that their airplanes are safe, it can be a long ass walk, or swim. home. Dirty or oily exhaust is an indicator of engine wear and should be fixed before it becomes a problem. Gun powder residue was cleaned up because reloaders didn't want walk around with dirty knees.
