      Rick Sharp mine had some issues, but all have been resolved. It did allow me the opportunity to make the upgrades I wasted. Good thing is I bought the car for a real good price. Even after all I’ve had to repair, I’m still under $12k. I truly do love the car though. Thanks for watching, and for the comment. Hope to see you subscribe. Take care.

    I have an '03 C5 50th An. Special Edition convertible, mine has none of those problems. I seriously would have walked away when I saw it previously had Lambo doors, the torn up seats, bad Targa Top, etc. This car had been abused, that's obvious. I went for a well care for 1 owner, with 79k miles, always garaged, always serviced and well loved. I paid 17k in June of '18, I love mine, getting Corsa Extreme catbacks put on this week.

      Jim Murry I was unaware it previously had Lambo doors when I bought it. I was like a kid in a toy store. Bought too fast. However, I did get it for a great price. After the money I’ve put into the upgrades and repairs, I’m right at $12k. And it really does drive great. It’s obvious that whomever had it before didn’t treat it with kid gloves, but at least the engine is strong with no issues. Hey, thanks for watching. I’m trying to get better at this RUclips thing. So tell me this... why be so negative? All I was doing was pointing out what I didn’t like about the car. Just a few things that needed repair or replaced or updated. I made all the upgrades I wanted to, and still have the car. I just don’t get why people are so negative. I’ve wanted a Corvette since I was 13, and I finally got one. I never said I was a “car guy”. I’m not even sure what that means. Do I have to know how to work on card to be a “car guy”? What if I just enjoy the beauty and artistry of cars? Seems to me we have just too many people wanting to attack others with comments instead of saying, “hey man, congrats on the Corvette you always wanted and worked hard to get, and good luck with the upgrades”. Or maybe some constructive criticism like, “nice car, and congrats on the purchase. Maybe try to focus your next video on things like performance and handling”. But that is just the way I see it. I had the same issue with the climate control display going dim. The process of removing the console, removing the climate control and soldering those few pieces takes about 30 mins. Like you said, there's some RUclips videos and tutorials on the forums. It really isn't that bad of a project to do yourself. Whether you do the fix or you have someone else do it, see if any bulbs behind the climate buttons are burnt out and replace them all. Easier to replace them at the same time while it's apart. Good luck with it and if you have questions let me know. I too am interested in what your plans are.

    Good grief! I own a 2011 grand sport vette. ALL the things you are complaining about occur because of where and tear and can be fixed relatively easily. And your targa top PRICES are way off base. Basically this video just makes you come across as a major WHINER!!

      I posted this video 6 years ago and have been amazed at all the negative comments. I was simply pointing out a few things about the car that I would like to change and a few things that were worn out after 17 years. I never complained. I never made any statements that suggested I was not happy with the car. All I did was put out a video of a car I bought that I was planning on fixing up to my taste. And I did. I made the car awesome. Sold it 2 years ago to a lady that loves it. She still sends me pictures of it. So I guess I just have never been able to understand why you and so many others came at me with negative comments. Guess it’s just easier for some people to be nasty rather than nice.

    Granted this is the 1st time seeing your video. That being said all of your issues are due to poor maintenance and taking care of the car by the previous owner's. Yes, there are common problem area's inherent with a C5 but so does every car ever made. No matter the cost or manufacture. I have a 2000 C5 Z51 6 spd. and love everything about. From having to replace the harmonic Balancer to the coolant tank. I bought it from the original owner with 87,000 miles 3 years ago and now have 118,000 miles on her. The only big expense I have had to date is new tires. Nothing else. I hope your video on the 5 things you LOVE about your C5 is better and not so nick picky. I will grant you this, unless you got a really good low price on this purchase maybe you should have spent some more time shopping for one with the less issues. My 1970 Corvette I bought in 1973 when I graduated from HS with money I earned working at the dealership. Went into the Air Force and traded the 1970 for a 1973. Then in 2005 I bought my 1987 C4 Z51 and in 2018 bought my 1995 Z51 C4 and traded it in in 2020 for my current C5. In between Vettes were a slew of Z28 Camaro's and Trans Am Firebirds. My lone non GM car was a 1970 Challenger R/T 426 HEMI 4 spd. pistol grip. Yes, I love my cars and I used to race SCCA in them. I just bought my 2001 Corvette with 18,680 Miles. I believe your video is mid-named. In my option most complaints you have are related to
    Wear. It appears your previous owner did not take good care of the vehicle. You probably should have spend more time researching additional
    C5 Corvettes.

      Jim Wassmouth I suppose I was not clear in the video since I have received many messages asking me nearly the same question. My intention was to point out all the things I didn’t like and wanted to change. Never did I intend to make it seem as if I were not happy with the purchase, or that I was fooled into buying. Yes, I got the car at a great price, and I have made all the changes I wanted and I am very much enjoying the car every day, even the days I just sit back and look at it. Thanks for watching and commenting. It’s always good to get feed back

    One thing I dislike is that the front tires through debre and beat the side and fenders of the body. Aftermarket makes splash guards but the front ones are gaudy and so long I fear if hitting something there goes the fenders! Wish something like the C6 ZO6 protection was designed.

      Tony Hartley I totally agree. The paint gets chipped away and the guards just destroy the look. Thank you for the comment and watching. Hopefully ill have a new video up soon. I’ve done a lot to the car since this video.

      James Linkous It seems a lot of people are getting confused by this video. I never said I hated my purchase. I got this car for a really really good deal, so the things that were wrong with it were not a big deal because they were all simple fixes. Everything has been upgraded and fixed and I still have not spent what others do for this same year car. Thank you for watching, I appreciate your comments.

    What you expect you bought a corvette that was abused you shouldn't mention your doors because the idiot put different doors,the radio is a great radio they put them in to save money and keep cost down

    • @caseybennett4201
      @caseybennett4201  2 года назад +1

      So I was referring to what I did not like about MY Corvette, not all Corvettes. So I feel mentioning the doors was relevant. And yes, Chevy put a Chevy stock radio that was used in pretty much anything Chevy produced back then instead of an upgrade for a $40k car in 2000. And I didn’t expect anything. I knew what I was buying. Not one person ever seems to ask me how much I paid for the car. Everyone just seems to want to give me shit about “complaining” about the car, when in fact I was not complaining about the car, just pointing out what I didn’t like and what I wanted to fix. All the things I mentioned on the video were fixed and I turned that car into one nice ride. Then sold it for $3k more than I paid for it. I do appreciate you watching the video though, even though I don’t make videos anymore.

      gene johnson thanks for watching the video. I get that comment a lot, but honestly, for what I paid for this C5, I actually got a good deal. I’ve been able to spend the extra money I would have paid for another C5, to fix this one up the way I wanted it. Interior, exterior, double den radio, tires...everything has been to my taste, and I would not have been able to have most of the work done if I would have looked around as paid more for a car in better condition. However, next time, I’m buying new!🤣

      Before you criticize those who own an automatic, consider their situation. Personally, chronic knee problems (especially my left knee) precludes me from ever owning a manual ever again. This is tough on a guy who has only ever owned a manual.

      Steven Schmidt nope. Don’t know a damn thing about the mechanics of cars. Does not mean I can’t appreciate them. I would love to know more about such things, but was never taught. But I do not believe you have to know about throttle response, suspension, power, torque, etc..to have an appreciation for cars. There is more to them than just performance. I personally love the artistic nature and design of cars. Thanks for watching and commenting though.

      Scott Evans why am I a joke? I made a video showing all the things that was wrong with the car that I wanted to fix. I have several upgrades since this video and the car looks amazing. Many comments about me complaining, but you all miss the big picture. I was never complaining. I was simply making a video, one of my first I might add, and listing what I did not like about the car. I knew what I bought and why I bought it. It was a project car, and I have had fun improving it and customizing it. Not to mention I purchased this car for well under book value. Thanks for your suggestion, but I think I’ll pass on the Prius and keep the Vette. Thanks for watching though, and for commenting.

    Moans and groans about a beat to s##t 18 yr old car.
    The car was obviously driven hard and modified plus it wasn't maintained properly.
    Corvettes are a dime a dozen.
    Should have found one in better condition.

    • @caseybennett4201
      @caseybennett4201  5 лет назад

      The car more than likely had a few modifications done, like the Lambo doors, but all in all, it is a great car. For what I paid for the car, I was ok with all the flaws. I didn't think I was moaning and groaning, and I never said I was not aware of the things that were wrong with the car, just pointed out what I did not like about the car when I bought it. This was one of my first videos though, so perhaps I may have come across as moaning and groaning. The good thing about buying this car though, is that it has allowed me to upgrade it my way, and things are starting to come along nice! I hope to have a new video out soon so I can show how nice the car is now compared to last year. Mechanically it is a good car though. I take it to a place called Vettenuts and the owner agreed that for what I bought the car for, I got a great deal. Sorry it took so long to respond. Your comment went into my spam and I just saw it and approved it to be public. Thanks for watching the video and for the comment.

      Dave Scheer one of my first videos, so yeah, there was a learning curve as far as the wind noise goes. And there is a difference between complaining and pointing out the things I wasn’t happy with and wanted to repair. Just because it’s an old car, doesn’t mean it had to be in that condition. But I knew what I was buying. I looked forward to restoring it with everything I wanted. Car was super cheap and now I have all new interior, tires, targa top, stereo, and much more. I have actually enjoyed updating the car. Sorry the wind noise was so loud, but thanks for watching.
