Thank you for a very simple and detailed explanation of how to install and work the devices. I honestly opened the box and felt a bit overwhelmed from overthinking the simplicity of it.
What they don’t tell you is that it’s a very easy install and if you hardwire it the battery will auto charge from the hardwiring, but you do need the battery in it. this is good because one time the power went out and some criminal thought that was the perfect time to strike because they thought the doorbell was dead due to the outage but we caught them and they got arrested
I ordered my Ring device from HSN great price and it came with the Wifi/Chime device. Thanks for this information, going to install my Ring system now.
@tammy steves OMG, I got a square table with a drawer and two drop leaves that took SEVEN HOURS to put together. I will never put myself through The IKEA Experience again. Thing'll probably withstand a hurricane, though...
just a FYI, anyone in the house remodeling or siding industry can tell you that is far from Masonite and is actually vinyl double dutch lap siding, it's basically just vinyl plastic dyed and extruded in that shape with that texture on it, masonite is a much thicker and harder material that is made of compressed wood fibers. Source: I've worked in the roofing and siding industry for more than a decade.
I had the original Ring doorbell and just upgraded to the Ring 2. It’s much better, especially because of the replaceable battery and the higher quality video.
It's pretty nice and thoughtful that they included the screwdriver which is reversible and also the bit drill bit which is by the way a masonry bit which goes through concrete
Very cool. If only they'd made it a little less obvious that there's a camera in their. Obviously no petty thief is going to care enough to try and destroy it before they steal something insignificant from a porch, but it's not completely safe. I'd say getting a security camera alongside this would be a lot better. Fantastic video! Liked and shared as always.
He leaves out important things like showing us which screws to use at which time and what package the screws came out of, considering that there are many different types of them and 2 different type bags with screws in them!
Thanks for such a thorough video. We were worried about a difficult installation, but with the rechargeable battery it is going to make it really easy! Purchasing through your link :-D
Yeah, the drill bit at 5:48 is a carbide tipped drill bit that can be used for concrete, metal, wood, and masonry, all of which are possible materials that a Ring purchaser might have to drill through to install this product.
yes, but you have to hard wire it with your existing door bell wiring. The Ring Doorbell can also work wireless off the battery if you dont feel comfortable working with electrical wiring.
You didn’t even show the installation of the actual doorbell, your title of this video is wrong , all you did was explain “the screws, the plates”, what’s up with that.
that wedge that comes with it would take care of that gap u have in the back. u may want to put some out door caulking around it to prevent moister etc.
Hello. Excellent video. I was just wondering if it were possible to have a picture pop up on your TV if your watching TV?? Thank you for your timely response
Hi thanks for the great video. The drill bit they provided was a masonry bit so it would be OK for concrete or brick. Thanks again for the video. Keep up the good work.
I got the doorbell 2 and chime pro and spot light cam. I love them but have been getting a 1-5 second delay when I get a motion detection. So when I click to see who’s there there is never anyone there but when I watch the playback there’s someone there (I live in a communal entrance of an apartment building and my neighbors front door is 6ft from mine and yes they know I have the ring 2 and asked me to watch their place as well!) Also on any recorded video I always catch the door shutting or someone’s back because of the lag. I contacted ring and they told me my internet sucks basically lol I dont know anything about the internet speeds so they sent me a test to perform and said that the ring has to operate on a minimum of 2mbps Well I have 27.46mbps download and upload is 10.76 my connection is good at about -47 Nothing worked and they blamed it on my WiFi saying my ring is too far from the router. My apartment is a tiny one bedroom. From the router to my chime pro it’s 10ft. From the chime pro to the doorbell it is. 5ft I got an email from them today saying I needed to do a hard reset which the button you push next to the lens to do a set up?? You hold that down for 10sec. I have yet to do this to see if it works but I will try it because I like what I got and their customer service is friendly and fast. I honestly feel that if this doesn’t work than they will replace it no questions asked. So hopefully tomorrow when I’m able to do the hard reset and I can find this video and tell you how it goes! Also I installed spotlight cam and doorbell 2 and chime pro on Monday. Today is Sunday so we are at day 6 Both my batteries are already at 77% Average use too So i dont think the batts will last 6-12 months with average use I had to buy another battery and it’s charging now so I’ll see how that goes. I know this all sounds like a lot and for what I payed I shouldn’t be having these issues but I feel it is worth that. I’d still recommend them to anyone. My buddy has the original ring and has never had any issue what so ever at all and is why I got mine
correction Jay; the drill bit is used for masonry mounting and the additional mounting plate is needed if you are replacing an existing older model Ring Doorbell.
how do you take out the battery cover? I just got mine and the cover is either held by the screws in the back but very frustrating trying to get those screws off
Thanks for a very informative video. I'm just starting to look into getting something like this and your video was power-packed with just the information I need.
If you live in cold climates count on battery power not hold charge any were near 6 months. Mine is hard wired and in cold weather below 32 power runs low until warms up.
You didn't cover using the wedge mounts. The screws for my mount would not connect to the mount. I had to go to Ace to get longer screws. Got any thoughts about that? Otherwise good video.
So say for instance someone comes to your door and rings it is there a light on the actual doorbell that notifies them you are watching them or can you see who the uninvited guest is without them knowing
Great video my friend. I have a question. Within my household of occupants and their respected iPhones, iPads, will this doorbell link to more than one phone/iPad at a time?? - as we are all running off the same wi-fi. Please respond if you have time. Thanks, Peter.
For many people, Ring’s new feature would make it dangerous to be in certain neighborhoods at all - a victory for the forces of gentrification everywhere. Ring doorbell cameras have already allowed police to significantly expand their operations, simply by appropriating private citizens’ technology for no additional expense. A photo of somebody as they pass by your house might not on its own tell you too much. But when you’re connecting an entire system that can, eventually, map people as they move around a neighborhood, it gives you a pretty intimate sense of where they live, where they work, and where they go to school,
It auto turns on night vision when it gets dark. Cons are you can see the night vision red lights at night and it’s black and white night vision. The pro or elite has color night vision
The biggest problem with the ring doorbell is that they've sold so many, their server can't keep up with the bandwidth to alert you about motion for sometimes up to a half hour....OR more!!! That is on my phone, i have almost instant notifications when my phone is on the same wi fi network at home though. I finally had to subscribe to their annual recording service in order to see what i am missing by all of those delays receiving notifications when I'm away from home! Of course, i bought these doorbells so when I'm away from the house, i will know what is happening!!!!! I have four door bells at present and when the live video works, its wonderful. And, YES, I have tried all of their suggestions to make them perform as advertised, to no avail unfortunately. Still, they are the best on the market for what they are.....
I just ordered the ring yesterday. I didn’t know there was chime. Is it necessary to buy the chime? Or can I go off without it for a couple weeks until I can order it?
We have just got a ring door bell version 2, only issue we have having is the person speaking at the door bell it’s really quite but the person answering the door with their phone e.g. is really loud #advice
As a 40-year retired professional photographer, the problem I see is that homeowners' camera always point to the "hot" background and the faces on subjects are dark. When I put my up, I just might paint my porch area white, for a reflective surface.
No. If you hardwire, there is no need to use the battery. It does not recharge in the unit. It is low voltage, and in most power outages, enough remains in the home to handle a simple ring.
I installed one of these. Went through mounting on brick and found out it was not compatible with my doorbell. The doorbell is just shorting 2 wires together! Why would it not be comparable! I called Ring to find that out along with a monthly charge for cloud usage. I removed it and sent it back the same day! The mounting bracket really was not very secure and I see how easy people can steal these. Just hide your face and getaway vehicle. Put cameras up high instead of this. Ring has those with the speaker in it that would be a better option. Their security system with sensors works very good. Kind of a pain to set up though.
Thank you for a very simple and detailed explanation of how to install and work the devices. I honestly opened the box and felt a bit overwhelmed from overthinking the simplicity of it.

Awesome job putting this together, I’m installing one for a customer tomorrow morning thank you for doing this it was most informative!
How can you watch video if you are out of home such work , mall , bar ?
I just got my Ring 2 and I'm almost ready to install it. I really like the dog barking chime. Thanks for the info!
How is this bell dear.?? I want to buy.. Is it well??
I ordered my Ring device from HSN great price and it came with the Wifi/Chime device. Thanks for this information, going to install my Ring system now.
Got mines from QVC .reasonable price
whenever i hear "it's so easy - anybody can do it!" . . . . . i just KNOW it will be a pain in the butt
No kidding. I installed a new router 3 days ago and haven't been able to connect since. Musta been through the setup a dozen times.
IT will be a pain in the neck!
Lol

It is, trust me.
This is a great tutorial. People like you make me believe in the future of humanity. Happy Ringing!
Thanks for the video, I'm terrible with tech stuff but was able to get this up and running.
I ordered a ring doorbell 2 and it will be here on Friday!
Great video, thank you.! I just purchased this doorbell 2, waiting for it to arrive!
Same here

Aside from the drill bit, you did a great job. Nice an d quick, almost convincing me to get one now! Thanks
Its a masonry bit
Bullshit!
Yup that's a masonry bit, definitely not for wood.
I really like it so have a good day and peace
It’s a concrete bit. Less common than a wood bit. Most people don’t have a concrete bit laying around.
The drill bit that you stated was for is actually a masonry drill bit which means it’s for concrete walls
Great review & very professional done. Im sold on getting this today. Thanks again
I got mine working fine thus far. I use it with my front door dropsak to receive my package deliveries and no more porch pirates to worry about.
Actually, here in central Ohio they're looking right at the camera and laughing as they walk off with our stuff. Unreal.
I have the same exact shingle type. Did you just screw in the 2 bottom screws without using the bracket?
Very cool. If only they'd made it a little less obvious that there's a camera in their. Very well done video...Very clear and easy to understand..
Excellent video. Just got the Ring 2 and you inspired me to order the Chime.
Very good video tutorial, it was very understanding and easy to install my ring doorbell.
Alexandria Miller I had 3 friends who got it and said it was easy and it very much is easy
Do u have to by the chime piece or can you just by the ring?
That included drill bit is a masonry one
I was gonna say that... he might be techy, but knows nothing about DIY stuff.
Exactly, thats why i couldn't let it go haha
Yeah, the drill bit at 5:48 is a carbide tipped drill bit that can be used for concrete, metal, wood, and masonry, all of which are possible materials that a Ring purchaser might have to drill through to install this product.
He probably doesnt know what masonry is
I'm no great handyman but thought right away that it was a masonry drill bit but than again he wasn't using the bit.
Bit of a silly question but is the ring chime necessary or will the doorbell work with just connection to a mobile device?
What is the purpose of the chime? Can you use it with existing doorbell chime?
yes, but you have to hard wire it with your existing door bell wiring. The Ring Doorbell can also work wireless off the battery if you dont feel comfortable working with electrical wiring.

Thank you for the video. Can I ask you if Ring can be connect at more devices? My e my family phones?
Yes just make a shared user account or use the same user altogether
Yes sign in on the account you set up the door bell on. You can do it with any smart home app
How long does the battery 🔋 last?
Loved the video bro. Thanks !
13:00 a minute and a half? that seems exaggerated, that took about 5 seconds...
Heatmahn Z 5 seconds? That seems exaggerated...
I believe he said it CAN.
Heatmahn Z it took 13 mins lol
I agree. Plus if it would take that long the doorbell would be worthless.
For many people, Ring’s new feature would make it dangerous to be in certain neighborhoods at all - a victory for the forces of gentrification everywhere.

If I buy two can they both be on the same account or do they have to be on separate accounts ?
Drill bit is masonry one 👌
GREAT VIDEO 👌🏾👍🏾
That bottom screw looks like it goes into battery pack. If you hardwire, does the battery pack still need to be installed?
The drill bit is a masonry drill bit for concrete !
Quick question can this device have more then one cell phone connected same the same time ?
Yes
if you hook it up to direct wiring do you still need the battery
No stupid
Do you know if the ring doorbell 2 is motion sensored or do they have to push the button to for it to record
Does it come with the chime included?
Good question. I was wondering how it works if you dont hard wire it. Your phone just rings?
This video is twice as long as it needs to be.
Thank you very much! I feel more confident about putting ours together
Thank you for the definition of theft, i did not know if someone takes a package off your porch without your permission that was theft. /sarcasm
Do you pair the doorbell to the chime? Or did I missed it. Thanks.
How do you link the doorbell to the chimes, if you're on battery power? You sort of skipped over that part of the installation.
Lew Google The door chime gets connected to the wall outlet, then on the app you simply add it as an accessory of the doorbell.
Excellent review and installation
I just ordered the ring yesterday. I didn’t know there was chime. Is it necessary to buy the chime? Or can I go off without it for a couple weeks until I can order it?
How often do you charge your battery and how long will the battery last before you need to buy a new one?? Thank you for yr demo.

What you did not mention is, can multiple people connect to it? The wife and I would both need it on our phones. But thanks for the information
yes both can connect
I bought one and you have to constantly charging it unless you buy another part for that does solar power but it's not all that great
unless you hard wire it to your existing doorbell wiring. We hardwired ours to old doorbell wiring and it keeps the battery charged.
Nice video, a little note, the drill bit It's for concrete NOT for wood.

Do you use the long screws or the short screws to install on the wood panel?
Great video
That is a masonry drill bit, not a wood bit. Notice the tip has two cutters.
Do you need the chime if you are hardwiring it to your existing doorbell
I live on a second Fl, my car is parked almost directly under my apt, it's in full view, will the ring be able to capture my vehicle ?
Just a question...why do you need to have the view of the overhang? I would tilt your camera down a bit. Just saying.
Thanks. Do you know, if you use hard wire does the battery act as backup?
No. If you hardwire, there is no need to use the battery. It does not recharge in the unit. It is low voltage, and in most power outages, enough remains in the home to handle a simple ring.
