would like to see more track from scratch using the Gnarly presets and some of the others on Deviant Audio. It's a great selling point and also good for new D&B producers like myself
Excellent video! Please do Turbulence. Now when that came out it stuck out like a sore thumb on tape packs in the mix with other tunes of the time. Well ahead of it's time! Also I've been trying for years to replicate the bass from Wolf by shy FX so if you could do that, that would be amazing.
Back in 2000 i bought the dnb mag called Knowledge. It had a section where a few top DJ's like Rap and Hype would give their current top 5 dnb tunes and konflict messiah was at the top of every list. I hadn't heard it at that point but i became eager to see why everybody had it at number 1. i managed to buy the vinyl one day when i was shopping in town. When i finally played it at home on my turntables with the volume and bass whacked up on my amplifer when my parents went out it blew me away and i remember smiling to myself and saying " yeah that's why " and since that day it's been one of my all time favourites. Still listen to it regular to this day. 24 years since that day! Crazy! Where did the time go?
As always an absolute legend. First discovered Stranjah around 2006 with the Blues VIP on Metalheadz. It's amazing that today I can learn about production from the man himself, including recreating this classic. Thanks so much, what a hero.
@@STRANJAH That track (and another of yours) appeared on Knowledge Mag mix by Klute in 2005 ("Metalheadz Americas mixed by Klute") which is easy to find online now. Very nostalgic to reflect that this was nearly twenty years ago, and very grateful for the opportunity to engage with your work in this new form. Thank you!
Finally!!! Thank you so much dude. More techno infused dark dnb would be awesome. Love things in the style of Konflict, Audio, The Sect, Raiden, Current Value among others
@@STRANJAH What are the chances of you arranging full track versions of these recreations as free download bootlegs so we (I) can mix them? Would be neat.
@@STRANJAH Also you never mentoined some of the other small labels no one has ever heard of that you released on like Architecture, DSCI4 and Renegade Hardware.
All killer no filler with this one, what a tune. One of them simple but perfectly executed tracks. Thanks man your tutorials have helped me out many times recently🎉❤
Much love, once it's broken down into simpler parts its easier to appreciate the construction of the track isn't it? When listened as a whole its a masterpiece that one cannot even fathom how to make
Late reply here sorry dude:) Yeah its a monster track for sure, definitely a little bit of a masterpiece. I remember being mindblown when i first heard it. Still gives me the tingles now. The energy of those pumping kicks with bassline is just massive❤
I remember first hearing this track back in 2000 on Dieselboy's The 6ixth Session DJ mix album. Konflict was listed by their aliases "Kemal + Rob Data" back then on the album sleeve.
Iconic Track, will never forget the first time hearing it in a rave. Awe inspiring how deceptively "simple" this tune is under the hood and what emotions these guys evoked with that few masterfully crafted elements. What about a remake/dissection of Bad Company - Planet Dust?😉
@@STRANJAH It was in Mannheim, Germany in 2000. It must have been around the time of the release of the essential rewinds compilation Messiah was on since a german DJ introed with it, can´t imagine he had it on dubplate. The event was called Future iirc...was one of the biggest promotions in Mannheim, multiple floors and lots of UK artists were the order of the day there back then. I just stood on the floor with my mouth open when the reese/rozalla chant hit, the drop then biblically destroyed the place. Will never forget that moment.
Man, that sounds amazing! It obviously left a mark on your life to remember it in such detail to this day! I am glad you have a fond memory of the music and hopefully you have many others, too!
Would love to see some recreations of some Break tunes. Probably one of my all-time favorite DnB producers over the years. "Positive/Negative" and "Accelerate" are still killer tracks.
Probably a lot longer. I assume they were mainly using hardware back then and coming up with ideas out of thin air is much harder then someone else working with whatever already exists!
I went to the Renegade Hardware website back in the day. They had a simple black and white animated homepage with this track playing. And I was like "Whaaaaaaaat the FUCK is THIS?!?" I emailed them and they got back to me saying there was a lot of interest in the song and told me what it was. Went right to Breakbeat Science and picked up the Aftermath Essential Rewinds album for it!
Nice! That is a neat way of learning about a track. I guess this was when the internet was much more infant and it wasn't as easy as it is today to get knowledge and information!
@@STRANJAH Or I just didn't know the right resources. This was around 2000 when I was in college. I don't remember what resources there were online - I sure didn't have any streaming music services if that existed. The only resource I knew was the physical record stores I'd go into and browse, and talk to the sales people (like Reid Speed, DJ DB oh yes!)
Those simpler times I sometimes miss. I enjoyed having to physically put in the effort of going to the record shops to learn of and pick up music. I still miss my cassette tape walkman, too! BTW, 2000 was still pretty scaled back when it came to the internet, at least compared to today's terms!
YT is not sending me your notifications. SMH. Anyways.... good job, as usual. For parallel processing I like to use an effects rack with multiple chains. Your way is cleaner, more visible.

Good skills man. When you break these tunes down it really highlights the talent to hose artists.
This was amazing to watch you use modern software to recreate a classic. Priceless. bigups!
So sick. Hats of for this one. I used to love mixing ed rush and optical 'gas mask' into this.

It sounds so much like my favourite artist ever - The Sect. Their biggest influence was Konflict 🖤
