Love ambrosia salad or 24 hour salad as it is also sometimes called as it does taste better after 24 hours in the fridge. My Mom since the1960s always made it with sour cream only as there is enough sugar in the fruit and marshmallows and I make it the same way. We always have it for Easter and Christmas whenever we have ham.
"Here, Ernie. Have some of this ambrosia!" "I don't even like ambrosia!" "Don't tell me you don't like ambrosia! You had some before, and you liked it!" "Oh, so now I'm a child. I don't know what I like!" Lol! Nutty Professor reference.
Great and easy recipe. Tastes delicious.!! Hate to have to wait for the ambrosia salad to chill and meld the fruits and whipped cream. This is a heavenly salad!!!! Thank you!!👍👍👍👏👏👏😍😍!!!!!

This brought back such good memories for me. My Grandma would make this every Christmas. Homemade whip topping is the best. She added chopped apples and sliced bananas and chopped walnuts to her's. I prefer the white marshmallows. It was so delicious!

This recipe is fabulous! I doubled the recipe and used plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. I also added a 1/4 cup grand marnier. It was good as soon as it was mixed, but it was mind blowing great after sitting overnight in the fridge. Yum 🤤
Looks yummy. I grew up in the 60s. My mom and grams would never have used cool whip on anything either. Heavy cream tastes divine. I tried cool whip in the 70s and couldn’t believe how off it tasted. 😂 We used sliced grapes instead of the mandarin oranges. My grams used to call in pink cloud ambrosia delight. Not sure where the pink came from. Maybe the cherries?
Wow this whipped cream is amazing I don't think I'll ever use Cool Whip again as soon as you mentioned sour cream I was hesitant and wasn't going to use it but I did and it is amazing thank you
Sour cream is the only way to go ,in fact, I use a little extra because it's just more wholesome and delicious, but it also kind of end up tasting a little bit like cheesecake , Absolutely love Sour cream..

1:24 You might like using a mixing bowl. They have vertical sides that curve in to form a flat bottom. No banging and jumping around. And it gives a better result since the beaters can reach everything.
