I’ve had my atf captoe rough outs for about 4 years or so and I’ve worn them on and off ever since. Something I would recommend if your going to use insoles is to oil the leather insole about once every 3 months if your going to wear them often as mine cracked after I used the insoles. They dried out the leather and it started to crack. Otherwise I’ve had no issues out of mine and they’ve held up great from hiking to working. Also a great boot for working on my vehicles. Their super comfortable with no insole in them and are broken in perfectly

I have the same insole crack on my smw boondockers but still going strong conditioning the insoles is a must!

@@chaoticchameleon853 How do they fit? I'm looking at ordering and am wondering if they are true to size or I need to go up or down a size or 1/2.

I was doubting about quality of this boots. But it shows really good quality in its price. Thanks for your long term review.

Ive had my boondockers for 4 years, got them in 2019 for $199. I put approx 1400 miles into them, including 500 in just rucking( with 45lbs for fitness and training) and the rest of it walking to, from, and around work. *Yes i tracked it*. I am on my feet 12- 14 hours a day. I've had mine resoled after 800 miles to a ww2 correct "raw corded" sole. I applied huberts shoe grease once every season during heavy use, now i dubb them once a year before winter.
I dont wear them as often as i used to, now once or twice a week. since buying these ive gotten the atf N1 boots (also good) as well back when they still made them, and also modern boots. I would still buy these boondockers again, even at the $250ish itll cost you now. Theyre great boots. The original soles still had life in them before i resoled them, they would have made it to 1000 miles without a resole, i just wanted the accurate ww2 soles with the raw cords.
I should probably make a video like them some time
Edit: i dont wear insole in the boots, your feet get used to them after a week or two. Context if it means anything: I was already used to being on my feet all day.

@World War Guy Once in a while use Mink Oil or Neetsfoot oil once in a while when redubbing the boots in order to recondition the leather in the boots it will keep the leather from drying out then put the dubbing on as usual. BTW if you go to a cobbler to put a new sole onto your boots he will use the correct nails to nail them in using a metal bucking plate to spread the ends which locks the nails in. That will keep the nails from backing out over the miles you use the boots.

How is the heel cup? Is it stiff and made from real leather?
