As a fan of Japanese selvedge AND blue being my favorite color, I’d totally rock these! Something I’d do during the break in period would be to stick to jeans for the first few wears and get a whole pack of blue socks lol
If you really want to go all out you could get indigo dyed socks too. I have a pair. Even after a few years they still continue to bleed onto the lining and insoles of my sneakers. Never tried them with my boots. Probably wouldn’t show up as much on tan leather lining
You are correct that the leather is dipped into indigo as a boot after stitching and not dipped into indigo as a whole hide. I found a couple of blogs from 2014 to 2015 detailing the process used to make the original OSB indigo boot run. It's a really interesting read on the process they use to dip and rinse the leather until they get the wanted blue hue (it turned green during the first dip, which is hilarious to me).
That green is actually just a feature of indigo, it’s actually green but oxidizes to blue. Anything dyed with indigo comes out green and goes blue in a few minutes
Wondering how these are not being talked about in fashion circles rn! Can't decide if they look more awesome paired with denim jeans or orange pants 🤔 I think indigo boots with orange pants is a real statement. Love hearing and learning about the natural indigo dyeing process. Thank you!🙏
Orange sounds interesting, but you better be ready to deal with the transfer. I’ve dyed the white collar on my thorogoods with Selvedge jeans, I imagine this will work in reverse since the boots will also bleed and will be dying the inside of the orange pants.
@@Dragon_McFluteface if my selvage jeans dye my brown 1907’s, then the blue shoes can dye green or brown pants. Indigo is crazy. I want to see the color combos though!

i've had these boots for a couple years and they have been a unique piece in my collection. i got them back when they used Japanese natural indigo and dainite soles. i never had the kind of transfer you were showing here in fact, i would say my previous iteration was much less saturated with a lighter starting point. they quickly developed a brown, neppy, speckled appearance. i guess i've always been somewhat hesitant to put together a wardrobe around blue boots.

How cool. I needed new boat shoes and it was between Oak Street and Rancourt. I was looking hard at Oak Street's navy Chromexcel at $215. I ended up going with Rancourt's Read Boat shoe in natural Chromexcel. First because they'll go with more color options for pants or shorts. But second because they were on sale for $150. Both companies make their shoes in Lewiston, Maine.

That’s hilarious how the overdye bleeds. I have seen their releases, seems really cool. Not sure I would but this, I think it would stain all my clothes lol. I definitely want to buy a boot from oakstreet boot makers. Looks like amazing build quality.
For the price you pay, I'd expect them to make sure the heel lays flat rather than lifting off like that. I've had to return boots that had that issue since they create a pressure point when you stand in them.

Currently wearing my indigo boots from OSB. I got mine between 2015-2017. Not completely sure when in there though. My version has all eyelets and dainite soles. I really like them, though they are a unique boot that cant be worn for everything. The roughout leather tips you off to that idea though. I don't wear them hard or in instances they would get scuffed or teacored very much. So after 6-8 years of at least once a week wear they have started to have some of that natural leather peak through in the heels and toes. Getting a bit of a greenish tone. When it started I thought they just looked dirty where the dye was coming off but now that it is pushed through more they are looking much better. I definitely have some minor indigo dye left over on the inside of the boots. I dont however see any dye on the welt areas, though it could have been there at the start. I'm very excited to keep wearing these and seeing the bigger high's and low's of the indigo and natural leather. I want to try some other soles as well, the dainite have been hard wearing and fine for most things. Though I dont like them much in winter as they slip more than expected, and the circles trap ice and drop it around the house when I walk in. Debating between V-Bar and Dr. Sole like these, I also have some cats paw heels I might put on these boots, I want them to go on the "right" boots. I am a big fan of this last as well. I was very worried about them looking too bulbus before I got them, now they just seem great shaped. My outside toes stay straight for longer than normal and this last helps a lot for that. Sizing: I am a 12.5 on my left foot, 12 on the right. I got a 12D and it fits great to me.

I have a pair of Grant Stone Ottawa's in midnight suede. It's a deep navy and the color does not rub off in my jeans or my dress slacks. It's the best navy blue suede boots. You should take a good look at them.
Fun fact. you know shoe factory's, when you go to the assembly line and head over to the toe lasting area . You generally see big old steamers, steaming the hell out of uppers, steam is really good for this because it adds heat to the upper and moisture. Shoes last better when they're hot and moist. Oops , change of subject a bit. White’s Hillyard. I came so close to ordering but can’t get any confidence the will last at least 2x as long as $120 imported Wolverines. I wear leather out in toe and vamp area in 1-2 years outdoors hunting and camping. Cattails, brush and all kinds of dry grasses tear them up.
Weston didn't cut these boots in half. Here is the cobbler's view of deconstructing the boots. You can see the heel lift, heel stack, outsole, filler, and shank being removed down to the lasting board. ruclips.net/video/-NCAD7_VRVw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/1DHpGE50p_o/видео.html
